Klitchko/Lewis Fight

Dusk

Did anyone else watch the fight that occured tonight between Lennox Lewis, the undisputed Heavyweight Champ, and Vitali Klitchko, the number one contender for the fight, on HBO tonight? Well, i did, and i must say that it is a tragedy that Lewis was awarded the win by TKO just because Klitchko was bleeding a little. This is not fair to Klitchko, because, if you watched the fight, Klitchko won the fight through the first 6 rounds, and he was probably going to know Lewis out in the 7th or 8th round, due to the fact that Lewis could HARDLY STAND UP, let alone punch the guy. I have to admit, Klitchko was bleeding excessively, but to award a TKO victory to Lewis because of 2 cuts to the face, (one on the eyebrow that was particularly gruesome, and a small gash on his cheek) is just a travesty. I say they shouldve given Klitchko's corner a few extra minutes in order to close the gash, preferably with sutures (stitches) if anyone feels as strongly as i do on this, please post here.

P.S. I feel particularly strongly because i myself am a boxer of sorts...

I think two guys punching each other while people cheer at them is pretty dumb. And then they wear gloves, which only makes the fights longer so their heads take more trauma, smart, and then they officiate it and make up funny rules, and the guys just sit there for a few minutes, hug each other (I guess they needed some lovin), take a few swings, hug some more (ok, so they needed a LOT of loving) and continue on.

Funny thing really. All those muscular men huggin and bleedin. Kinda kinky.
Dusk

LOL very funny.

But... Have you ever boxed? it is one of the most tiring things you can do with your time. That is why boxers only do 1 or 2 fights a year. (the fact that they get a couple million dollars for each fight doesnt hurt.) But the "hugging" as you call it is necessary just to hold yourself up. So it does have a purpose.
Terikan

I think they should make hugging against the rules, since they have so many funny rules. I mean, if a football player hugged another one, I think someone would get hurt and a flag would get thrown lol.
Dusk

Yes, i agree, they should make it against the rules, and i think it is, you're only allowed to hug, or Hold for 3 seconds. And yes, you would probably be hurt if you hug a guy in football. (at least in a sexual way...) and a flag would be thrown... Its called holding (unless you're on D, on D, anything goes)
Terikan

Why do they let them hug for three seconds? I mean, is it really that hard to restrain your affection for the other guy? Just get a room! Hehe.

I mean, maybe they should just use pillows to hit each other. Then they wouldn't be brain dead at the end of their careers. I mean, doesn't it seem more fitting for two guys to hit each other with pillows, then hug for three seconds, then hit each other some more?

Seems like it to me.
Dusk

Well, like i said, the hugging, while seemingly ***, is necessary, because of how tired you are from throwing punches and keeping footwork, it is also an effective way to stop a guy when hes throwing huge punches that are connecting, by pinning his arms down to his sides.
Terikan

and I mean, face it, who doesn't need a hug on occasion?

:p

You want real fighting watch some UFC. (Ultimate Fighting Champion) They do a PPV at least once every three months or you can rent them from your local vid store. In UFC, you can hug them as long as you squeeze the living daylights out of him. Peoples arms, legs, ribs, necks get broken, and some even die. Now that's a sport.
Terikan

Well I wouldn't call that a sport, I'd call it a psycho circus, with lots of very kinky hugging.
Dusk

LoL. That is not a sport, that is completely barbaric. Im not saying boxing is a "civilized sport" but it is much more civilized than that. Boxing is the civilized man's contact sport, if you will. I think that this UFC stuff that you are talking about is a couple of very mild steps above gladiatorial games...
eblah2

Every major sport I know of is fixed. Boxing is notorious for being fixed.

If you have to cheat to win, I wouldn't call that "civilized" either. I'd rather get beaten fairly than someone hand me a million to throw the match.

I'm not calling all athlete's cheaters. I'm saying our civilization has become a bunch of sissys, especially when it comes to sports. i.e. 8 million for swinging a bat, 6 million for throwing a football. Come on, you cant' tell me these guys a truely worth that much money. And then caught cheating?! (Sammy's corked bat). If Sport = cheating, I'm glad UFC isn't categorized as a sport.
Terikan

are you happy that it's categorized as 'dumb'?
eblah2

It's dumb to the people that don't understand it. I've been studying martial arts for 20+ years. I fight & ref amateur full contact martial arts tournaments, nothing compared to UFC. I've seen people fight with split skulls, busted eye, broken nose, broken fingers, or dislocated arm. Maybe you haven't watched enough or any of UFC. Not everyone dies or gets something broken. There's ways to win without killing somebody. Submission (tapout); Knock-out (just like boxing); ref calls match; other team throws in towel.

If you're willing to do something you love, win or lose, even if it means risking life. That's honor. I have more respect for these guys than our brainwashed society that think cheating is o.k..
