Any Animatrix viewers out there?

Does anyone know what happened to Detective Ash in A Detective Story from the Animatrix series?

I know the movie sort of leaves it to your imagination, but I want to know what other people have thought up.

Easy, remember how the first three PI's had weird things happen to them, one committed suicide and the other went mad?

Two theories of mine,

First reason was becauset hey couldn't "handle the truth" and quite naturally went mad.

The second is while it wasn't because they found out the truth directly, its because they found out the truth and the agents did some sort of brain washing on them, so that they wouldn't be able to let anyone else know, Same as the runner story they did something to him to make him go all weird.

Now back to the detective, since trinity told him he would have been able to handle the truth, that means after he meets the agents, they brainwash him and he either kills himself or goes crazy.

um trin shot mortally shot him in the chest when he was about to be assimilated by an agent.

right, he was shot by Trinity. Remember Switch pointing at Neo with her gun for the case that he'll turn to an agent? That happened to that detective, but not to Neo because they had finally found the one.

i think rama's theory is more accurate, but to UltimateTrinity, who says he was shot mortally? He was still alive when the agents found him, and then it fades out. Could have had a better ending...

He died after Trinity shot him because he was being taken over by an agent.

i think that the agents killed him. you know how was holding the gun at them? if one of them tried to follow trinity he would have started to shoot,and they would have been forced to kill him. even if they didn't kill him, all he had to do was keep them stuck there with him untill he died, giving trinity enough time to escape. either way, he died.

it was the case to end all cases. he definitely died at the end. she probably didn't have to shoot him though. she probably could have kicked his ass pretty bad, to where an agent couldn't really gain much use from him. or she could have forced the red pill down his throat or something. i don't know. it just didn't seem like a very well planned out meeting. of course, meeting neo in a completely packed nightclub in m1 was probably twice as stupid. maybe morpheus should demote trinity or lower her pay or something.

it was probably not that stupid, becuase there were so many people there. ever heard of the phrase "hiding in plain sight"? it probably was better than meeting in some small, empty place, especially if you weren't moving anywhere. at least make it difficult for the agents to find you.

when morpheus and trinity are taking the onramp to the freeway in reloaded, trinity says "you told us never to use the freeway. you told us it was suicide." i assumed it was because of the potential of being pursued by agents taking the bodies of other drivers. and during neo's orientation in the construct in m1, morpheus implies that people who haven't been freed are to be avoided if possible, since everyone is a potential agent. "if you're not one of us, you're one of them". you'd think the best meeting place would be in the middle of an empty field, or the top of a hill. wherever it is, it should be relatively near a phone. imagine being discovered in a busy nightclub, soon to be completely filled with agents, and no where to run.

yes but don't they have ways of detecting agents? So they would know if an agent has caught onto them before the nightclub is filled. And Trinity would be out of there within minutes!

it only takes a few seconds for the agent(s) to show up.

it only takes a few seconds for trinity to blast through a wall or do some crazy gymnastic stuff and get away... hasn't she done it before?

it takes a few seconds more than the agents. and she can't just start blasting away at people when they start turning into agents, she would run out of ammo. either that or they come where she can't see them and then start to shoot.

if he wasnt shot mortally why would the agent not take him over? sorry if this was already said.

he might not have had to be mortally wounded. all trin needed to do was damage the software enough that an agent wouldn't be able to use the body well enough to capture her. if that was the case, then the agents probably killed him later on or he "bled" to death.
