Are furbies AI?

just a thought. I think we've probably already invented AI and didn't notice because it wasn't smart AI.

Dude it isnt AI. Furbies dont take what we do and make it their way of living. Only AI and natural beings can grap things and evaluate it for themselves.. Furbies are just copying or reinstating something that is given to them.

I don't think that we've invented something simmilar to an AI yet. I would call it an intelligence if it could create something by its own without using any sort of program..

i can smash a furby with a hammer and it will break down...but if you watched the animatrix AI puts up much more of a fight to its attacker.

But how much of a fight can a furbie put up? They can't defend themselves, they can't move half the speed of my sisters pet tortise. How do you want then to "put up a fight"?

furbies have a list of things they can do, ai does not, if u play about with one long enough it will say a phrase u have already heard it say.
also the fact that u think they r smart is scary as hell, b cos they r the most annoying thing on the planet and mine is currently w/ batteries tee hee

I have yet to meet a person that likes furbies.I only like them cause i like to shoot them with eather my 30.6 bolt action rifle or my grizzly 50 calibor rifle. They make a nice sound when they get hit by a bullet. I have also never person that considered furbies as AI. Come on, they only do what they were programed to due, be anioing.

mum bougt my little sister a furbie and she did not like it. mum would talk to it and then one day mum came out of her office and furbie scared her and she said really loudly die furbie die. mum says that when things scare her. she is funny. and then my sister cried and mum had to say sorry to the furbie.

Yes conner I did say die evil furbie die because he said ewah or something to that effect. The thing doesn't have a brain in his head and it always makes me jumpy.

Furbies are not AI. They would be starting to verge on being AI, though.

AI can only do what it's programmed to do. Furbies aren't programmed to fight back. The AI in the Matrix is designed to be self-concious enough to know when it's being attacked, so it fights back.

That's a negaTiV, Captain. AI is not programmed to react. It reacts on intelligence. If ! beat my computer, It won't fight back. If I attack a AI driven machine, It'll kick my soft.

Immediate response would be self-defence, upon the realisation of itself as a unity and the attempt to evolve, not dissolve.

AI has to be able to choose and make a decision on its own to be considered intelegent. Furbies do not choose or make a decision, furbies say stuff in a predetermined order cause it was program to. The end about this furbies being AI descusion.

I would consider Furbies to be in the direction of programs of repeating tracks (like an old record that keeps skipping)

If any one wants to get rid of there furbies, give them to me. I am running out of targets to shoot so i need more furbies for my target practice. I will prefere that the furby would be turned off since i don't want it to move at the last second and dodge my bullet. I don't feel like practicing leeding a small target at 300 yards. It will be a very nice site watching my .50 calibore grizzly rifle bullets tear the furbies to shreds or create a giant hole through the head of the furbie.

some machines r nbecessary for our living, and sum r just cool.
for example life support machines, think about howmany wood die if we didnt have them.

demon stuff? being what? demon stuff could mean anything....

incantations and sending demons back to hell and summoning them thats a pinch of darkness then i do healing spells and use lots of light magic

well ok, that's my problem here: once what someone "practices" is neither any secret nor something special, it's the most naturally thing of the world, can call it "mind over matter" too or "contacting the higher world" or as you wish. and the second one: why do you send demons to hell? Don't know if it's true but for example in buddhistic believe you too start your "career" somewhere as, whatever, stone, worm or demon, here called "hungry ghost" - you think they have fun of it? They haven't cuz they are the farest away from real whisdom. And to get whiser they have to work on themselves like every being and you just harm them if you send them back to hell, if you relly can, which I doubt.

Hm I "believe" in some things, but only cuz I "know" them, one of those things are ghosts with which I also had to handle once. But even a being that seems to be evil shouldn't be handled like that. Yin and Yang, everything has its purpose. And sorry, but I find "sending demons to hell" and such things only... eh... funny.

by the way, funny how you got from Furbies to Demons :D would suggest to open a new thread here, maybe insert a poll for asking people about what they think about magic etc. Would be intresting to discuss that.
