christians?? arent we all narrow minded

Ive read alot of the post in this sections and everything is science vs. religion and the one religion that people mention is Christianity.
there are many diffrent religions in the world one not better than the other but all very simular in thought and practice. I dont have a problem with religion or the books that each sect has. It basically chicken soup for the soul. I mean The Bible says love your neighbor.. good advice .. but in reality I know alot of church going folks who wish they didnt have the neighbor the did.. Why? I dont know.. but they are not following the book. I mean.. If you take america and you take christians elsewhere.. I think we are more about money and power and oppression. Im catholic my girlfriends family is Baptist.. they arent happy and if we get married its not right.. Where in the book does this say that. People are racist. But we are all of god's children so why the hate? Utimately, its about choice. You know whats right in your heart and do you follow that or do you think with your head?? ITs a choice.. and consequence you dont really know until you take the road.. and is it ever the wrong decision?? You make think so because soemthing bad happens.. but what if you learn something or meet somebody that says something profound that you carry with you for the rest of your life? What if the Wachoski Bros are a median of which people are supposed to start thinking about our lives and how wrong our lives have become?? after all there are a lot of you talking ALOT. Why?? Is it that important.. Obviously because everyone wants answers to questions that they already know so its not that important. But inside you need to know.. but thats what Faith is about. Knowing Just knowing. You know.. But its accepting that is hard. If you accept that you are flawed how much easier will your life be. If you accpet that you are no better, smarter, stronger than anyone else.. what would you focus on instead of spending so much energy that you are right or better? We are all tainted by others that have programmed you since birth but you were born with your main frame intact and you know what to do.. but somewhere poeple started re-programming you (call it a virus) and once you allow yourself to be corrupted what happens to the pureness that you were born with.. its still there.. you just have to re-program yourself to get back to the person you were at birth.. no hate no anger alone but not really ... just a thougt

crawl back under the rock you came from. Re-read the christian, Judism and Buddist Threads, then cross-reference them with books to the relevant texts and then post something slightly more credible than this please.........

i like this post. It's very idealistic, for i think there will always be preconceptions.

In the US, we have every ethnic group, every race, every etc. There will always be someone that someone dislikes because of some perceived wrong.

Rich think poor are lazy and dirty, poor think that the rich are thieves. There are tons of these comparisons.

The best you can do is be as openminded as possible, resist temptation to take on others' dislikes, work to make others more openminded, work to make your kids more openminded than you.

You'll never be able to make huge changes, but hopefully every little bit helps.

Totally respect your post, e_roll. But, as you said, you have to make a difference between the deepest messages of all religions and what humans made out of it.. :(

I understand that yes we CAN be the product of upbringing and in turn it is our responsablity as parents to keep our children on an even keel and to make them more open minded to new ideas.

However I can't equate an upbringing as being downloading, or a virus, and children aren't 'tainted' unless they are brought up in an abusive house. Then it is up to them the choices they make to break the cycle of abuse or whatever has happened to them when they where younger. Babies aren't tainted and it is an extreme generalisation that you are giving. If you want to equate a newborn with a computer, then it should be an empty kernal not a mainframe that is intact. I agree that we have to re-programne ourselves but to get back to the person you are at birth would be to delete yourself.

Why, cause they do not look at facts that can prove that there is no god or that there is a god. They believe that they are right in there beleifs and try to convert people to that religion. I trully am not any religion at all. I look at the facts and there is no facts to support any of these religions at all.....

I loved M1 and so did my Friend Mel, shes not a christian but I am,
She loved the action sequence and the cool music and the FFFFFFAANASTIC original plot....and so did I.

But what I also liked was that one of the main ideas it dealt with was faith...

If you have faith...you have it. If you don't then I hope to God that you will begin to question...like Neo the things you see around you.

I don't really care if you rubbish my belief or respect my decision to believe...because as Morpheus says in M2..it does not change what faith is...unfortunately what he put his faith in looks at the moment to be crumbling...or is it? I mean the story ultimately must have a good ending...In fact I have faith that it will!

I beileve The Matrix story will end on a happy note. Why? Because I've read the script? No....I'm a psychic? Nup. But because every movie I have ever watched has had the purpose to tell a story with some value that Good either wins, or fights against wong. These facts whether tangible or just a gut feeling gives me faith.

I have faith in God beacause I know, through tangible means and in my soul, that He exisits.

i can tell you have not read, researched or seeked the knowledge and wisdom shed by some of the religions you have listed. look at what an ignorant comment you make. how can you speek on all religions as being narrow minded if you dont know what all religions teach? the problem with most people is that they are full of ignorance which is disguised as knowledge in their own minds.

First off sight, all the religions i metioned except atheism believes in only one god, that right there is narrow minded since no one can ever prove there is only one god or if there is even a god . These reliogions believe as if it is a fact that there is a single god. That right there is a very narrow minded. Athiesm is the same way just thet they believe that there is no such a thing as god. Also sight, i had to do a 20 page report last month on all the religions i just mentioned so don't say that i haven't reasearched my topic!

you may have done a half assed book report on a few religions, but you haven't dug nearly as deep as you would need to to fully comprehend them. people spend their whole lives researching one of the religions you mentioned, and you think you know the whole thing after one book report? homie please. i was more referring to the point that you named those few religions and added " or any other religion" like you are an autority on all religions. you generalize too much. it takes away from your point. its like cussing at someone, you may have a point, but they wont see pass the cussing at them to hear it. feel what im trying to say? also, what is proof to one, my not be proof to you. i know that the Almighty exists, because we have our connection. you just may not have one, or be open to finding the truth, whatever the truth is to you. the way i see it, there can only be one Almighty True God. why? because there is only one Truth. if it isn't the trugh, its false. there is only one me. i can talk about this for ever, so ill just chill.
