What is the Matrix?

There's one thing I dont understand about this movie. What is the Matrix? can someone please explain to me what the Matrix is? in great detail...

The matrix is a computer generated dream world. It escapes you from reality. If you died in the Matrix you would die in real life because your mind makes it real. Your body can't live without your mind.

ok here i go. the matrix is a computer program created by the machines to keep the humans in a state of sleep. the humans are plugged into the matrix and they live in the matrix believeing this is the real world. i hope this helps a little. not much in great detail. sorry.

Kind of hard to miss;) in M1 closely listen to Morpheus explain it... The Matrix is [hypothetically] where you are right now. The world we live in would be the Matrix. All around you... a computer program designed to eventually turn humans into a battery for the machines in the real world. If you want greater detail... I'd refer to M1....

I'm not so sure if he/she ever saw Matrix 1 before if he asks this question.

by the way I did! i wouldnt see the second movie with out seeing the first one... i was just too lazt to watch it, not to mention i cant find the damn movie:mad: either way i did watch it. i just wanted to make sure...
