Ok, This is just a thing thats been getting in my head since i saw the matrix... and i wanna see if any one of you, even the brainy moderators ( hehe ) , can help me to understand it..
In the film Neo Sais To Morpheus , So If you die in the matrix you die here too , and morpheus tells him " The body can not live without the mind, anyway what i dont get is if you'r shot in the matrix how come blood comes out of you in the " Real World " When it is only you'r mind that has been affected, does anyone know what i mean? just like when neo gets punched in the sub-way and he coughs up blood why does he cough up blood in the " Real World????? " : Well, remember that this is only my persepective, but I think that when you get hurt in the Matrix, then your body tells yourself you are hurt, and then your body might be able to actually tell your cells to split. Its weird, but your body might be able to control every last atom of your being. It can subconciously tell your skin to break and tear apart. That is how in control your brain is over your body.

A very interesting thought there , and maybe thats what it is but it still seem kinda weird :confused: i agree with Helix i mean think about it, it does make sence To clarify you guys, all the movements our body does is controlled by our brain... itīs the source of everything in our body...
So, if in your mind you get hurt, your brain will auto reply to the body the consequences. True Rubinho, also remember Morp also tells Neo, "The mind makes it real". Think if you will about a person who has been in a car wreck and they are brain dead.. most let them go even tho the body still functions, if the brain isnt working then whats the point! As for the bleeding when the body hasnt truely been hit out of the matrix, I cant explain it other than the brain is the one thing you have to have in order to live.... if you place your hand on a hot stove... you pull away not because you really feel something but because the brain tells you too... the brain makes it hurt so that you will pull away... "the mind makes it real." so when u get spanked in the matrix, you spew blood in the real world. if the mind makes it so real, when you fight kung fu in the real world, why is the body sitting still in the real world....when the agent punches Neo at 100000punches per second in the station, Neo's body is shown jerking in the real world.......now why in the hell would that happen??? Just what I said the first time... the body its self isnt in the Matrix.. the mind is... the mind is making it real.. so if the mind is "seeing" the body get beaten its going to react.. Ya know, I just dont get it, Ya hardly see any girls up in these threads and when you do it's always tha same ones.. I really dont like being a minority, lol. Do you wanna say that, if he jumps in the Matrix, his body should jump in the real world? Thatīs impossible. And what about flying?
His body is gonna start flying inside the ship?! inevit... I am not sure we are on the same level here... do you mean... because the body moves in the matrix that its movements should be the same outside the matrix? Cause if thats what you mean then, no the body isnt going to do the exact same things out of the matrix as it does in it... Take a dream for example... you dream you are running, so while you are laying in your bed while you may not realize it your feet may move a bit... because thats how the brain works...so its the same concept for the matrix... the matrix is a dream state... the brain sees it and reacts to it... granted the movie takes it a step further... but its the same thing basically :) There are two levels of dreaming.
You can go to sleep and dream while your alseep and dreaming. It's been proven. EKG waves settle down whilst someone is in a dream and that represents them going to sleep, THen the EKG goes haywire and the readings are off the chart because they are "double-dreaming" if you will. #2 They don't get thrown accross the room in the real world when they do in the matrix. They only react in small ways to what happens in the matrix.
#3 When Neo is doing jujitsu in the matrix, His body IS moving, but is restained by the straps.

Just post it! And here we have many sections and you can choose the one you like most. Just see in the "home" of the site the Forum options. I think that some of you are missing the point. When you are in the Matrix, you are really just going inside your own head, that is why you get a plug into your head. However, when you are in the Matrix, your mind is telling you that that is what is real, that that is reality, even though it is just like a dream you can control. Once in the Matrix you move as if you are not in the Matrix, Neo is just learning that because he is in his own head, he can control all aspects of his being, hence the flying and "super" powers. You have a plug in your head because you are sent information fromt eh matrix. Like a moble internet connection. Your mind just reacts to what it see's while you are being sent information about the matrix. Helix you are totally off.

This last part makes some sense for me. This is not too bad. It can be right. only problem is, he never got cut in the real world. And I can't remember if the bulletholes showed up in real life. But I don't think they did, I think he just wriggled around. Yes, but when he fell from the building, he was bleeding. Wriggling could not have caused his mouth to bleed, it had to be his brain telling his mouth to bleed, and then his mouth responding by tearing its own tissue apart to get the blood out. It's the early Japanese belief that if you really belive into something you can do it, even FLY!!! so when neo is in matrix, he has to believe that he can do something, not only belive it, but know it, that's what Morpheus said. so, when you get shot in matrix, it is so realistic that your brain thinks you are really shot, so you bleed in real world too. and that's not some bull ...., Then way Japanese people can fight, they can stay in the air longer then we do, just because of that, when they cross their legs and sit quietly down, that's the period they start to believe they can do it. I've seen documentaries about this stuff and you see them doing kung fu fighting and stuff, its amazing, i actually at first thought that they just had really great animators making this stuff up, but it was real. Good point morpheus vs neo (ok writing your name is pissing me off so im just going to refer to you as morpheus :D ) I wish I could change my name too, it was silly, you can just call me morheus. you know I actually tried to do that, with the match, I set it on the table upside down, and tried to make it fall down with my eyes, I was staring at it 10 minutes, but nothing happened, then my friend called me from the other room, I turned arround, but just with my head, I didn't touch the table, and when I looked back, the match was lying on the table, it was no longer standing, i didn't think of that much, cause there could be some little wind, or earthquake, or something like that, but it was kinda weird Yeah, the mind can do some pretty cool stuff. I know that at least one of the moderaters used to be able to do telekinesis. But I know this site that is all about energy and how you can use your mind to manipulate it. .- When plugged into the matrix, you are in a dream like state. several times in the movie, being in the matrix is described as a dream like state.
.- When you dream, your body does move, not a lot but it does jerk and kick, this is why you wake up in a different position than when you went to sleep.
.- When neo is fighting Agent Smith, he is fighting harder, taking hits, fast and hard, causing his body to jerk in the real world.
.- When neo hits the ground when trying to jump for the first time in the Matrix his teeth are bleeding in the real world. Hitting the ground could have caused his jaw to jerk so hard that in clamping his teeth he causes his gums to bleed.
.- When neo is shot in the chest in the first movie, you see his body jerk, but no blood on his chest in the real world. Why? because the brain is not just going to "manifest" bullet holes in his chest, but can cause him to go into shock and have a seizure like state.
.- It's not that complicated really, dying in the matrix makes you brain dead in the real world, like having a computer without a CPU, yeah the parts are there, and technically they are all functional, but without the CPU nothing works. I think you made a very good explanation for us.

when someone believes too deeply that something is happening the body actually responds to it with symptoms ...

Some theories say that this is the reason why we usually canīt dream of our own death. We usually wake up moments before hiiting the floor in a fall, for example.
Other , lighter, examples of psychosomatic effects are the body postures we assume when sad or pissed. If we are sad, for instance we, uncontiously, arch our backs. And if we are proud of ourselves we tend stand taller.
So getting hurt on the Matrix, when you are awake and concious, should cause psychosomatic effects as it seems "too real" not to be true.
Neo, after seeing the matrix as it is, have the chance of not going through this as he is the only one that, while inside the Matrix, is fully aware of the fact that it is not real. The other are somewhat aware but not as much or they would be able to do the same. Itīs kinnda like our fears ... we know most of them arenīt real but we still cannot control ourselves totaly. Neo would be the one who "really" knows the he has nothing to fear inside that Matrix as it is not real.

Carlos (from Brazil) Yes but he DOES have something to fear. Just because he died in the first movie and came back, doesnt mean he can do it again. He probably could. But what about some other possiblity. Maybe the agents manage to implant a virus in he Matrix body that goes throught to his real body. And remember what Agent Smith was doing to Neo?
