Hey,
I've watched Reloaded again with some friends. When I asked them, if they liked the movie one of them said. I think this movie is just "Dark City" in another version. Everything's the same. One guy has the ability to change everything and to destroy his enemies (machines). And he frees humans.
So that's my question. Do you think Matrix has same story as other movies (e.g "Dark City") or is it just inspired by movies like that?
There will always be parallels to other movies. I mean, look at 'the 13th floor'. That movie has a lot of similarities to the matrix. The matrix has been influenced by a lot of different things, be it other movies, japanimation, psychology, metaphysics, religion, ect etc. The problem is that people tend to say that a movie is an exact copy or ripp off from another.
I just like to think of it as taking the best ideas from a lot of places and combining them in one kick@ss trilogy! :D

A gross version that puts a spin on the matrix 1 movie is called eXistenZ.
eXistenZ (1999) Directed by David Cronenberg
And I just saw the movie "The Recruit" with Collin Farrell, and this exuded a lot of Wach Bros "you are the one" qualities. Some of the scenes between Al Pacino and Farrell seemed a lot like Morpheus and Neo conversations even though it had nothing to do with a dreamworld or machines.
M1 & M2 movies has effected the way I watch and analize other movies.
in dark city, the enemies are aliens. it's decently similar though, but it was released in the same year as the matrix, so there is no chance that they actually borrowed from it.
I think the matrix has changed the way I live life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (especialy M2) It's funny though, star wars the first trilogy did the same thing!? It must be trilogies, that god for the Matrix!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
