at the end of the matrix reloaded . . was ion destroyed or was it still there?

the ion that was in the second movie... is that one still functioning or did the machines destroy it?

To the best of my knowledge, Zion is still there, but those ships were destroyed (as well as the crew) because of a EMP that went off. The million dollar question is who set it off.....

I think it's most likely the Smith-infected-Bane...at least, that's what they hint at and what seems the most logical.

Zion still exists, since the ships that were destroyed were outsidezion, counteratacking the machines!!! I'm almost sure that was Bane the one who triggered the emp, since he was the only survivor...

Yep in Enter The Matrix they show shots of Bane performing this sabotage, just before he cuts his hand again lol :p
