When Zionites sit down, jack in and enter the Matrix their bodies go into a coma-like state.
When Neo enters the Source -- which is beyond the Matrix, as an operating system is to an application -- from Zion, without being jacked in, that is, without a wire, and shuts off the sentinels, he immediately collapses into a coma-like state.
It seems a coma is the price you pay to access code DIRECTLY, whether Source or Matrix, from a physically real human body. It's like all your energy must be concentrated on your Matrix/Code reality, which means your body gets as little as possible, so little in fact that it appears to be in a coma.
What this means is that in stopping the sentinels, Neo went into severe energy DEFICIT, which caused him to collapse into the coma he would have otherwise been in when accessing their code.
Make sense?
What if he is learning to use his powers outside of the matrix. Remember he stopped and said "I can feel them" then turned around and stopped them. If he can feel them than he must be able to do that stuff for real. In the real world. If he could stop those centinals like that he must be able to fly and fight multiple people at a time. What do you think?

What do you think? Neo learning to use his powers outside the Matrix is my whole point. As for flying and fighting 50 Smiths, no. Physical superhero powers are for cartoons, and what makes this film seem real is its avoidance of this type of fantasy, the grounding of human abilities in the laws of physics.
i don't know if this has been mentioned before but i just thought of it, Neo's coma is related to the jacking in of the people in zion, i don't think neo is having a coma due to lack of energy but he my be "in the real world", say zion was just a matrix within a matrix and now that neo realizes that, he can acheave "self-substanciation" just like the kid in "Kid's Story", because in kids story he had to do something massively shocking to get out of the matrix (jumped of a building). Neo shocks himself by realizing his powers and believing the real world is a sham! Neo is truely awake!!
His comatose body is no longer needed and it just goes limp (like in "world record")
Well... When they enter the Matrix, only their mind goes in there, not their bodies. So the mind has to be separated somehow from the body. That's why it looks like coma - mind separation.

Right, but when Neo enters the Source to stop the sentinels he is not in a coma until AFTER the event. That's why I say the event itself caused an energy deficit. Pay me now (jack-in coma pay-as-you-go) or pay me later (wireless coma pay-later). Thanks.

Because it's an infinite regression, a black hole that will suck your mind and never give you any SOLID results. Nothing is real, or at least you can never be sure. Also, I don't know those other movies you mention so can't comment. Thanks for posting.
