What if ... The Architect is actually lying ?

jam2k

What if the 5 previous Neos and the loop thing is a lie and actually it's the first time 'The One' meets the Architect.

What if the architect actually cheated everyone to force him to stay inside The Matrix while Zion was being destroyed because he was the REAL ONE that had powers OUTSIDE The Matrix and therefore was the only one being able to stop Sentinels and no one except the architect knew about this ? Neo could have stopped the Sentinels that killed Zion just like he did after Nebuchadnezzar exploded.

I know there are many holes in my theory, just wanted to hear about your opinion.

Yeah, I got that feeling at the end of M2. I just didn't trust this guy, this Architect. In all actuality, he could be cypher's Reincarnated matrix agenda after he survived and jacked back into the matrix.

I would say CHEAP TRICK.

The Wachowski's haven't given us any reason to believe they're cheap B-rated screenwriters lol. Put it out of your head.

Thats true, the Wachowski brothers wouldnt risk losing a lot of fans over something as important as this in the Matrix 2. I mean, they lost a lot of Hardcore matrix fans just over the movie because of different things, now they could lose many more if the Architect isnt real. And the architecht is a machine. I believe that Machines are most likely not able to tell a lie. i believe they are programmed to tell the truth, the whole truth, so help them god...

Nothings is what it seems in the matrix. It doesn't matter if the architect is lying. The truth of the matter is Zion is being invaded whether it's a matrix in a matrix or whatever. If they die in zion, most likely their dead anyway.
Neo_Andersion

well, the answer would be in Revolutions...

The architect could be lying so he could control Neo into doing what he wants Neo to do, so the machines could destroy Zion more easily. If Neo believes he ISN'T the one,(or that he cant do anything to save Zion) wouldnt that naturally make him weaker?

I tend to agree about the Architech, why would he be lying, the plot is already complex enough as it is. Neo meeting the Architech is a monumental occasion for the audience to then find out everything that we were expecting was a lie.

I think this is a twist enough, if he was trying to trick him, why would he give him 2 choices. Would he just say you must go to this door blah...

Although the problem with everything it seems thus far is "choice" so hmmm im still not 100% convinced even on my own opinion as yet.

I do think he is telling the truth though. This also backs up that everyone in the Matrix, real or otherwise is there for a purpose, even if they dont know it yet. I think thats what makes Neo so special, the fact that he was able to break free from the constraints of the program...

Like when darth vader tells luke that he is his father. Maybe he could be lying to wind luke up but thats just NOT how movies work.

Another thing to remember is that several times during M2, various characters mention previous cycles of The One. e.g. the Merovingian tells Neo that he survived Neo's predeccessors, and he will survive him. Smith also mentions at the beginning that "things are happening exactly as before", i.e. implying that the cycle of The One has occurred before.
Baudrillard

One thought: maybe the Architect is in fact mistaken, not lying. Maybe he truly believes that this 'edition' of the one will be no different to the others.

His claim to be 'bound by the parameters of perfection' only applies to his creations, the Matrices, and have already failed twice because of something he failed to take into account, choice.

Perhaps he will have failed to realise that his method of control, the production then reintegration of the One, is lacking another important factor that will lead to the collapse of the Matrix, just as his failure to factor in both human nature and choice lead to the failure of the first two Matrices.

The first film chronicles Neo's discovery of his abilities, the second explains the discovery of actual purpose (a running theme in The Matrix Reloaded), the third will most likely lead to Neo ending the war by choosing his on path (and not being guided by the prophecy as in the other two). I suspect that it is this ultimate free will that will destroy the machines; Neo rising above his programming.

Just a thought.... :D
