Persephone v. Trinity

When neo kisses persephone, persephone turns to trinity and says: "I envy you, but such a thing is not meant to last."

what do you think that this means, does it mean neo will die, trinity will die, they break up, what?

yeah i think it meant that she was going to die :|
not sure though....might be something that is going to happen in matrix 3......you know like parts of number 1 are "fulfilled" in number 2 :)

Theres really only 3 things it can mean
1. Neo dies(not likely)
2. Trinity dies(probably)
3. They break up(not really likely)

well... in M2 trinity does die and is saposed to stay dead but neo has some special new abilities (stay still while i fix your heart)

Maybe it means that she was just saying that about her relationship with her husband that with her experience love doesn't last. And that trinity almost died. Then neo brought her back.

if it referred to anything, i think it would be Trinity dying, and that could be one of two things. Either she dies in M3, or it means when she dies at the end of M2, when Neo saves her,

Maybe that's because the way the matrix was built, Neo was supposed to choose the other door, and it wouldn't have lasted, but he didn't, and he managed to save Trinity.

What really confused me was that the frech guy took the matter that she freed the key maker so easily, I guess what persophone said about love doesn't really matters and she just did it as a revenge to the frenchi smashing on the blond... I might surely be grong but is just my opinion

I thought Persephone was really sexy.

Here's an idea: the Oracle's prediction was wrong, trinity did not die. A lot of the film's underlying plot has to do with what one considers 'freedom.' maybe neo really is free, where as the 5 "ones" before him were not... and he is going to break the cycle that has destroyed zion and kept man under control. The machines are making predictions, but neo started making things happen his way.

I got something different from it... When Persephone says that to Trinity I think she is implying that because she knows the french guy has been cheating on her and she doesn't think love was programmed to last very long. Obviously I could be wrong.
I've also heard that Persephone was the one who created love [she is said to be the Mother of the Matrix, and I think she is] and she created it to be a weakness. Ex. Relate to the conversation bewteen Neo and The Architect and listen to what he has to say about love... and who created it.

Yes that is true about persephone, but the architect never really says who the mother was, neo guessed the oracle but that insulted the architect. So who would the mother be?

That's my point. Persephone.

She tests Neo's love for Trinity to make sure it is genuine. Also, since she created the program of love a long time ago, she has not since felt it, that is why she wanted to "remember it" Love, as Arc. put, was "designed specifically to overwhelm logic, and reason"
This is why the Architect said he was frustrated by failure the second time he made a new version of the Matrix. That he needed someone else to help him.

Of course, this is all just my opinion.

I'm not ready to say that Per created a love program for the matrix. but the idea of her being the mother of the matrix is right up my alley. Did you see my post, Secret identity revealed. What do you think?

Yes that is an extremely well put opinion, cause I remember the architect saying that he needed something of a "lesser mind" to contain his perfectionist mindset. So came in Persephone.

My thread is fourth from the top in this forum. But the short version of my thread is that Per is leadind a double life. She is the Oracle. That's why Arc was insulted when Neo mentions her.

I think the Arc's thinking was, " i don't know who this Oracle program really is, bit I'm tired of hearing about her!" Also, note that none of the programs SAY Oracle and the French guy calls her a fortune teller, like its a slur. Also, I don't think French guy know his wife is parading around with Seraph as the "Oracle".

Hmm.. but what if tha Architect's responce "Please!" means that he has a disgrace for the label "oracle" because she's not a fortune teller.. but the humans take such respect from her.
That pretty much contradicts my thoughts though, because I think Persephone is the Mother of the Matrix.

ermmmm i fink all she means is that he's a gd kisser an that sumthin that good like ther relationship is not goin to last.... but sayin that trinity DOES die near the end which almost leads the end to ther realtionship but cos of his powers she's saved

Although the Oracle did say when we see/hear of ghosts, angels, etc its a program not doing what they're supposed to. Maybe that's why.
Persephone did say they caused more problems then solved.

Well, first of all I think that the only reason Persephone said it wasn't meant to last is because she used to have that kind of love with her husband. But obviously not anymore. She says that to Trinity because she is very envyous and honestly believes that their relationship won't last, and that Neo will desert Trinity in the end. Nothing more. Persephony can't tell the future, remember? Anyways, as far as being the mother of the Matrix...hmm...interesting. I'll have to look into that...

I agree with that. I believe that indeed she IS jealous and that she believes that there is no such thing as true love. That when it comes down to it, everyone is for themeselves and nothing more.

...was suposed to die...and the program knew it...what it didnt knew was Neo's choice in the Arquitecht room...

What the architect said made perfect sense, yet it still is speculation if Persephone is actually the mother of the matrix. The architect is basically plagued with his imperfections and he knows that even in the most simplistic mathmatical calculations, down the line somewhere there will be an anomally. Its a fact of mathematics.

yea i kno THAT makes sense...i mean it makes no sense 2 me that perseohoney can be the mother of the matrix i don't see y she can b the mother....all she can do is predict these things....well i think that all she meant was that a love that strong is not meant 2 last as in its 2 good 2 last like she had that relationship with her husband but then he jst wasen't interested in her.....i don't think she was implyin that trinity was going to die that was jst coincidense

there was an interview with someone, i think the wach bros, were they said that neos story will definatly end in M3. basicly that he will die at the end of M3. so it may be that neo dies not trin.

Keep in mind both Merovingian and Persephone most probably exactly know the path of the One. Thus I think what she said meant "Yes he loves you, he loves you so much. But when he meets the architect, like his predecessors, he will choose to save Zion and you will be killed by the sentinels".

As for the conversation in general, it's possible that Neo will die, but I've never seen the movie, so I'm not going to say that it's probable. Just like I may think I'm living my life...but it's always possible that I'm plugged into a supercomputer...;)

Lets get back to the topic, just for a minute....
Persephone is angry about love, her love did not last. She is still inlove but is not getting that love back. In her eyes when she sees 2 people love each other so dearly, she envies them n thinks just that her love will not last, no one else's love will also last. Until she feels loved again......

I agree with you...on both points.

JWShorteo- Persephone probably means that it won't last because she see Neo and Trinity have a very passionate relationship, and sooner or later lust just fizzels out. Maybe.

is jealous (hahaha) about neo and trinity's relationship and that somehow trinity and neo breaks up? ...i dunno
