Civilians in the matrix?

I have a question, it may sound kind of stupid, but i'm going to ask it. Has anyone noticed that there are people living in the matrix realm, yet they are not fending off agents or anything! All they do is live there driving cars, walking down the streets, eating food, and living a normal life like us. Who are these people just living in the matrix and not having any ties with neo or the rest of the characters?

I have no idea what I want to know is are they plugged in like neo and morphius and trinity. Or is everyone there just a program.

The general consensus is that those people are living out their normal lives just as you and I would. The machines need their body heat to create energy. They are helping the matrix by doing their jobs, ie: washing windows, etc. Everything has a purpose, and a cause and effect. Of course this is just my opinion, so dont flame me like someone else did.:p

I´m sorry, but that is no question for a matrix fan....

don't take any offense in this, but the idea that people are decieved into believing that they are still living in a human society is the whole point of the matrix.

let me get this straight.... you guys are saying that everyone else in the matrix besides neo and the gang are programs and not real people plugged into the matrix?

ok, so you're saying that everyone in the matrix world is a program and not human at all. hmmmm, then how do you explain the kids in the oracles home that were hopefulls? they were in the process of being released from the matrix. if they were programs, how can the be released? I still hope that you misunderstood my question.

The entire matrix is "a computer simulation", everything you see, hear, smell, taste and manipulate is NOT REAL. It is a program. The humans living out there lives DO have a real mind, but its outside the matrix in a pod. Their bodies are programmed into the matrix.

As for the hopefuls, well it can be two things.
1) The hopefuls are still in pods, or
2) Just as Neo was released from a pod and hacked into the matrix to meet the Oracle IN the matrix program, the hopefuls are all being hacked into the Oracle's apartment from hovercrafts to have their lessons from the Oracle

These are my opinions, but that's how I think it works. Did that answer your question? Or did I misunderstand something?

this is what prompted my question. by this statement I took him to mean one of two things. either everyone's, including neo and the bunch, a program or neo and co. are the only ones who are not programs. I knew that neither of these could be completely true. I also knew that the 'programs' in the matrix were the digital representation of the people in the pods living out their life in the matrix.

I just could not believe someone thought everyone there were programs and not human.

but, to you jaded, bravo on handling the situation and not flipping out like mr.Xontas lol
