worth buying?

Is the Animatrix worth buying???

in a word "yes"

I obtained a copy some time ago from a friend of mine over the internet and havnt looked back since. After it came out legally I then went out and bought myself a copy, as well as a copy of the soundtrack. I would considermyself a fan for sure.

The animatrix is amazing, not only from an animation standpoint but also from a Matrix standpoint, it enhances your understanding of the Matrix-esque world and how other factors and sub stories come into play.

After watching Animatrix I then went out and bought 4 new anime DVD's including Ninja Scroll, Ghost in the Shell and Akira. The Animatrix opened my eyes to a whole new world I knew existed but never quite appreciated.

Anyways Its an awesome Dvd and nice to pay for their hard work:)

I would give the Dvd a rating of 8/10, simply cause its really quite amazing, but lacks special features I was hoping for. There are some great ones but I want more damnit :)

On the heels of what the previous thread said. I have to say NO.
I held out on buying and rented it instead and I am glad I did. What made The Matrix & Reloaded so amazing was their replay value. You couldnt just see them once - either cuz the storyline or the action. Animatrix holds no re-play value and really doesnt explain too much we didnt already know. The special features were basically non-existant although some of the stories were great , others just held no weight at all. Rent it - if you like it buy it later but consider yourself warned.

Thank you both, i think i will take apts advice and rent it first, and then if i really like it enough, i will buy it...

Either way u have to see it, it is GREAT......
