Why does the Matrix II looks Star Wars?

Oxyd

It really looks like a Star Wars. Especially that scene when Neo pulls a sword into his hands (did he used the Force?). And also that scene where he`s knocks off agents with that bar (like defending using LightSaber). Sorry for that advertisment...
liondale

I have to disagree with you, those two very small examples hardly is enough to claim it looks like Star Wars.
If that would have been the criteria Matrix II would look like a lot of other movies too...
Gore

*agrees* the matrix is its own movie. movies can only be compared to it...

i saw an advert for "the transporter" and the slogan was "rules are made to be broken" and it showed this dude jumping about 10 foot in the air and double kicking these guys

i wanted to throw up
Anomaly

The Transporter was a good movie, obvisouly your view of the trailer was just as blank, as this guy's view of The Matrix
CraHan

Why does the Matrix II looks Star Wars?

Why is your brain the size of a peanut? (it obviously is since you're able to draw these kinds of comparisons).

from first impressions. it seems a complete rip-off... rules are meant to be broken. its taken straight from the matrix come on... it might be a good film. but it seems to have taken so much already it'll have lost originality
Oxyd

It looks like every time I post something on some forum it ends up catastrofe. I meant it as philosophical question - just to talk about st. in a Matrix. When I saw that scene I just recalled simillar scene from SW - that`s all. If I`ll think that it is only stupid copy of some other thing I should leave the cinema at the half of the move, shouldn`t I?

And I also enjoyed that scene where Neo knocks the agents off with the bar. Especially that part, where Neo clears the rest of concrete from the bar using agent`s head :-) cool.

Oxyd - the use of a sword by a hero? C'mon dude.

Some people are too damn defensive.

I can see what he means.

He is relating it to the sudden use of the council, just like EP i and II.

Also, when he pulls the weapons off the wall that looks like he is using the force. The only reason we draw this comparison is he does it ONCE in both movies. Give oxyd a break!

However, i might add that i do agree with liondale in saying those examples arent enough to truly relate it to star wars.

But there is surely a difference in claiming that the whole movie looks like Star Wars, which was what oxyd did (although maybe not intentionally?). And to discuss the resemblence between a sceen or two...

His first statement was "It really looks like a Star Wars." Nope, it doesn't at all. Sure, similarities will always exist by pure influence but with so many remixes and remakes of movies and songs these days, the Matrix is securely original.
