I can't stop thinking that the Architect wanted Neo to chose the door he did. Although using quasi-reverse psychology he kind of told Neo he wanted him to go to one side - but pushed him out the other...
Why would the Architect say that Trinity had entered the Matrix and was dying?
At best he could have kept quiet about it.
And by saying: - Which brings us at last to the moment of truth, wherein the fundamental flaw is ultimately expressed, and the anomaly revealed as both beginning, and end. There are two doors. The door to your right leads to the source, and the salvation of Zion. The door to the left leads back to the matrix, to her, and to the end of your species. As you adequately put, the problem is choice. But we already know what you're going to do, don't we? Already I can see the chain reaction, the chemical precursors that signal the onset of emotion, designed specifically to overwhelm logic, and reason. An emotion that is already blinding you from the simple, and obvious truth: she is going to die, and there is nothing that you can do to stop it.
Isn't he challenging Neo - almost pep-talking him to run after Trinity. A "I bet you don't dare to do it" thing. He even describes how he can see the "chain reaction" leading to the choice he was expecting...
And here: It is interesting reading your reactions. Your five predecessors were by design based on a similar predication, a contingent affirmation that was meant to create a profound attachment to the rest of your species, facilitating the function of the one. While the others experienced this in a very general way, your experience is far more specific. Vis-a-vis, love.
It almost sounds as Neo and the predecessors had been designed/constructed by someone to serve as the one. And the only difference from before was that this time the one loved an individual more than the group...
And while the 5 predecessors had been failures, not perfected enough to feel genuine love. Now finally in front of the Architect was one that seemed capable of it, and the architect was happily pushing him out the "correct" door....
I dont think he wanted him to choose the door he did, but i believe he knew what Neo was going do.
I dont think he cared at all. if Neo chose to save trinity the humans died no problem with them, and he said they had other ways of power. and if he choose the other door everything keeps spinning.
I beleive the architect was lying when he told Neo that all the humans were going to die. If he wasnt then why did the Matrix not crash when he chose the other door?
The matrix doesn't crash immediately, it starts to run out of control uptil a certain point where it eventually crashes.
The Architect says that, "failure to comply with this process will result in a cataclysmic system crash killing everyone connected to the matrix" He does not say how long the process will take, but his wording leads you (me anyway) to believe that the crash will occur quickly after he chooses the other door. This obviously does not happen, and being how there is another movie and an endless online game following it the crash does not happen anytime in the forseable future. I also see no reason for the Matrix to crash just because Neo refuses to "reboot" it. The only reseason I can see for it to ever crash is the fact that Smith can copy himself. Rebooting the Matrix would not solve this problem because the process obviously does not delete exiles. So is there really any proof that the Matrix is on the road toward a cataclysmic crash?
hmmm.... interesting... it does seem as though the Architect was using reverse psychology... but yeah, he does make it sound as if whatever he chooses will happen immediately... which it doesn't... i'd say that the matrix is won't just suddenly crash... systematically being the word used... that could be over a long period of time...
I also see the only way for a system crash to happen, is because Smith is infecting too many of the "humans" and even other programs there. Like a virus. I can't see any other indications of what could actually cause the crash...they are all just talking about it but not explaining it.
And to my second point - doesn't it sound as if Neo and his predecessors had been designed by someone? Made for a purpose?
There is nothing to indicate that the crash is immediate. I did not get that impression.
But to the original question as to whether or not the architect would want Neo to take the door to Trinity... I do think that ultimately the goal is to perfect the Matrix. Love seems to be the anomoly that the Architect is struggling with and Neo is the first to have love. I believe it was to have played out one of two ways
1) The architect knew that Neo had true love and wanted him to take the "reset" door, at which point the love "program" would feed back into the matrix and that anomoly would have been overcome.
2) The architect wanted neo to take the trinity door to prove that neo in fact had true love. Now the architect will try to get it from Neo. That scene at the end with Neo unconscious could have been the point at which the architect tries to get the program.
I tend to believe #2.
Poledawg your second conclusion seems to be missing a substantial point. How would the creator retrieve code from neo without him being inserted into the matrix. Correct me if i am wrong but without the link or his insertion how could the architect possibly copy code from neo to the mainframe.
I am not trying to prove you wrong i am only questioning your
approach. I would happily stand corrected
thanks :)

you see...this "more general experience he was talking about was the previous anomoly's love towards the entire human race...in which they would all chose to save Zion....but Neo's specific love showed him to the door not traveled....because Neo is the first anomoly to really show alot of human similarities....

So are you saying that Neo isn't human? Since it is special for him to show human similarities I mean....
Kind of what I feel is being indicated too, but not too sure what to think.
ashrumm, i don't know the answer to how the architect can now retrieve code. i don't believe the matrix in a matrix theory. that being the case i do not know
1) how neo can dream about events in the future in the matrix while outside of the matrix
2) how the oracle can know that neo is not sleeping outside of the matrix
3) how smith/bane can move and function outside of the matrix
4) how neo can stop the sentinels
there seems to be some link between the real world and the matrix but i don't know what it is. maybe now that neo has proven he has love it will be up to smith to bring back the code. i really don't know.

Yep, those points sums up the whole core of the movie I think. Answers to this would probably answer the rest of the open questions.
some ideas here:
an explanation on how smith is able to copy himself and function in the real world. when he grabs a hold of someone he copies his hardware with his victim causing their brain to be an exact copy of his.
also along w/ neo and his powers outside of the matrix, chill out. i promis that we will never be able to figure out what they have in store for us in revolutions. its ok to think up theories but we'll never get it right. theres some strange link between neo in and out of the matrix that will blow all of our minds.
i dont think that the arc lied, because i dont think that he is capable to lie, he thinks in percentages and probability. i wouldnt put it past him that he kind of wanted neo to go in the door that he did. if i were him, i wouldnt tell him that trin entered the matrix, but then again, mabe he had to, in order to give neo true "choice".
View Full Version : The Architect got his will...
Neo isn't packin' - Does anyone know when the Reloaded DVD is out???
