NEO28 Does anyone have info on the identity of the Merovigner's 2 bodygaurds Cain and Abel? Not the twins, its those two guys that take care of his "dirty work" so says persephone. wrathofthetwins i really dont know... SyKe I dont know about them, but I know in the Old Testament, Cain killed Abel, who was his brother. "Cain said to Abel his brother, "Let us go out to the field." And when they were in the field, Cain rose up against his brother Abel, and killed him. Then the LORD said to Cain, "Where is Abel your brother?" He said, "I do not know; am I my brother's keeper?" And the LORD said, "What have you done? The voice of your brother's blood is crying to me from the ground." I forget the whole story, but I think Cain was jealous of Abel, but I dont know if it has to do anything with the movie. elminster I forget the whole story, but I think Cain was jealous of Abel, but I dont know if it has to do anything with the movie. Here is some of the background. God told the people alive then to present sacrifices in a certain way. In this specific case it was as a thanksgiving for the first fruits of the harvest. They were to present a male yearling lamb as a burnt offering...Anyway, Abel was a shepherd and had lots of yearling lambs, but Cain was a farmer and had fruits and vegetables instead. So instead of trading some food for a lamb he thought that God should accept his sacrifice of food in place of a lamb, while Abel did what God told them to do and presented a lamb. So God accepted Abel's sacrifice and not Cain's...don't know how that was made clear to them but apparently it was. This made Cain jealous and he decided to kill Abel. Unfortunately for those who like to read some hidden meaning into everything in these movies, I can't really see how this one has any deeper meaning than as an allusion to the Bible. However, if you can come up with something I look forward to reading it. IamMorpheus There is no alluison to the Bible its just a movie using names from the Bible elminster Originally posted by IamMorpheus There is no alluison to the Bible its just a movie using names from the Bible that is an allusion to the Bible. I'm not saying that they chose the names for any significant reason...just that they happened to read Genesis, then they wrote a movie and said, "Hey, lets name these two guards after those guys in Genesis...you know, the guys were the older brother kills the younger one" flanish we there are some people who think that Mero=adam, persephone=eve. i think that these people believe Mero to be the first "one". this, of course, would make sense if u believe they do represent adam and eve Terikan In vampire lore, cain is the father of all vampires, and cain and abel are vampires. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Neo6th They are vampires, thats why Persiphone shot one with a silver bullet. Niobe 16 I think u r right. They are computer programmes that take on the role of vampires. mrandersen Originally posted by Neo6th They are vampires, thats why Persiphone shot one with a silver bullet. I thought werewolves were killed by silver bullets ... or am I getting my lore mixed up? Neo6th Originally posted by mrandersen I thought werewolves were killed by silver bullets ... or am I getting my lore mixed up? You are getting them mixed up. mrandersen I found Merovigner (still can't remember spelling) and his companions to be an attempt to explain vampires, ghosts, and other occult thoughts... I felt they were portrayed as false illusions and simply conjured by AI programs. Relating this to the Christian elements found in the movie, I would say AI programs almost represent demons in a biblical sense, and these demons are creators of lies such as vampires and other occult thought ... I don't nescesarily agree with this Christian view, but it appears to be present. WildCard Yeah, remember in Blade? He had all those very cool silver killing tools. :) -WC- Neo6th Originally posted by WildCard Yeah, remember in Blade? I was thinking that was in relation to vampires. Thx for the correction. The One V6.0 Werewolves are killed by Silver Bullets. But in Blade silver kills Vamps too... The One V6.0 "Just a point you might find interesting, maybe... the folklore of werewolves being affected by silver weapons is a mistranslation. Basically, werewolves and vampires were originally killed by the silvered metal, which was actually mercury. They were forced to swallow large amounts of mercury and then ususally buried alive with metal pins embedded through their knees and elbows, locking them together, so they could not walk after death. " This was later also used on witches, and I would point out that the holy water and other religous weapons were only added later by the Christians in an attempt to increase the strength of their god." Smith's Bane You are getting them mixed up. It's not that he is getting them mixed up. Werewolves are also killed by silver bullets. For reference see movies such as SilverBullet and Monster Squad.
