Matriculated?

Stans_50

Ive just seen the entire animatrix, with all 9 eps. The one i was really interested in was matriculated. And i got some questions

What happened to the machine when it was plugged into the program along with other humans? I mean, they were just simply running around, hiding, teasing the machine's mind. Was it some kinda process to change machine's perspective towards humans? Does it symbolize the nature of relationship between man and machine?

I cant get my head around it.

id guess theres symbolism between man and machine in there

Matriculated happen to be one of my favorites.
So here is what I think I understood.

When they plugged the machine in, they were shaped in differently with vivid colors. The machine has never seen anything like that before, so very unlikely it got the machines curiousity.
Especially when the machine shed it skin, n saw its supposely form.
It was somewhat like them (human). But something happened, something was trying to get a hold of it, so it felt threaten. Once it was struggling, it felt like his was struggling to stay alive, who comes to help it out, we do, human kind. We help it out, so it could live.
When it gets unplugged, it sees what is happening, Machine destroying human, humans struggling trying to stay alive. The sameway it was trying to stay alive, when it was plugged.
The one who came out to help it, was the same one who was asking for help. N just look what it decided to do, plug her back n stay with her, until the end.....
I have to see it again, but this what I understood of it, I may be wrong, but with this who knows........

Matriculated was my favorite of the Animatrix.

When they pluged into the machines i thought that they were trying to free the machine, trying to free its mind using a construct like program so that it would join the humans in their fight against machines.

It seems that the machine was forced to change the way it thought, it was tricked in a way. The humans lead it to where they wanted it to be and how they wanted it to think, the machines choice was taken away from it.

When the machine woke up to see the humans being killed he tried to save them as he now saw them as friends maybe, especially the main female charachter which the machine then plugged back into the program.

But she then felt afraid and threatened by the machine and seemed to dissapear.

The machine was then left alone, the humans were dead, one human rejected it and it is now unable to rejoin the machines after being shown things it had never seen or could of imgined, if a machine can imagine. that is.

When the machine plugged her in, I think she did feel threaten, but remember how the machine was supposely saved, the machine was plugged in. N thought he may save her if he plugged her back in.

I think they actually also showed the machine choice, when it was plugged in. There were several crossroads and doors to chose. But he was of course manipulated to follow a path...

In the end I didn't understand why the woman died. Did she die of the injuries already sustained in her battle with the machines - or did her mind reject the friendly machine?
Niva

If u remember, one of the humans (I think it was the female who died when she was plugged in, but I forgot). She was saying that she doesn't feel right tricking the machine, thinking the machine is making a choice when it is not...........That was the same thing what the Matrix is doing to them.....
liondale

True, now I remember...
But why did she die in the end?

well being beaten up by a robot might do it, plus the shock of seeing one in their construct advancing on her might lead to a heart attack, and for the story line of the machine having no-one to turn to in the end rejecting the machine way of life and no humans around to communicate with!

Matriculate is to complete a long task or a realisation of something. Watching it thoughroghly I think the only 'being' that matriculated was the machine.

See how the humans wanted to show the machine how to co-exist in a symbiotic relationship by plugging it into a construct.

When she realised the machine wanted to co-exsist with her after saving her, the human couldn't matriculate.

Either that liondale, or she continued to hide in the construct until her outside body perished.

yeah but that would have to be for a long time cos that walker didn't look as though he/she/it was going anywhere fast!

hmm, since this machine was the only survivor, maybe he will go out to avenge the deaths that took place in front of him, itd be cool to see that runner in M3. I tinhk the humans made him realize what he is trying to kill, and why the humans are trying to stay alive. They gave him a choice though, and i would strongly believe that it is how the third movie must end. once Neo destroys smith, maybe Neo will choose to let the machines and humans live together in harmony. But who knows, anything could happen..

I thought the machine stood plugged in??????????

The machine stayed plugged in with her till the end. This will be the 15 th time I've seen it know, and with a fresh perspective in my head, she did die. From shock. She was unconsious when the machine plugged her back into the contruct, and she died of fright when she regained consiousness, so she perished in the constuct and the machine couldn't understand non-acceptance so it to faided if it were away

Matriculated really has a deeper meaning, and it is a great, but sad story... That machine actually become "human" in the end, realizing what it's kind had done to humans, and I think it really "felt" sad to see the last one die before his very eyes.
UT

Yes I agree. The machine did finally feel empathy towards her near the end. God it is becoming my favorite one now after 'Beyond'. It had everything and was an extremely poinent anime.
