Why Is Everyone So Stupid?!?!?!?!?

Ok, I am in the state of panic now because all those "weak minded" matrix fans cannot understand the dang freaking plot line of the movie.

They're all saying that The Matrix is one of those movies you have to watch 10 times to understand. NO IT IS NOT!!!

Message to the world: Stop getting so caught up in all the freaking special effects and think about what the movie means every once in a while. Remember, all the cool blurry stuff is nothing but strings and computers.

What is the Matrix?

That's the question I get every freaking time. No one understands what the Matrix is!!! They get so confused because the characters are always popping in and out of the Matrix in the movie. Well, get this. If there are cars driving around and the characters are in nice clothes and sunglasses, then they're probably in the Matrix because they can generate all that stuff using the construct. If they're wearing rags and in this 22nd century looking hovercraft, then they're in the real world.

I actually think the Matrix can be understood on MANY different
levels. Rev Joshua made an interesting post a while back
on how the movie relates to Buddhism (as opposed to
Christianity, which most people believe).

Than again it's hard to follow the plot the first time you
watch the movie since the special effects are so amazing.

After all, The Matrix DID set new standards for movie special
effects which everyone is trying to copy.

There are a lot of simple minded fools who will never understand
what the Matrix really is.

I'll end this post with something Cypher said when he tried to sell

If you have seen the Animatrix clip "The Second Renassaince Part 1 & 2" then you'll see the orange panels moving along the side at the beginnings and ends of those films. You see the lady sitting and it looks sorta like Buddha.. heh.

in response to your remark, i am not dissing other matrix fans. i am dissing people who THINK they are matrix fans, but really they aren't. I just believe that people who dont even understand the story (or aren't bright enough to) are not worthy of calling themselves matrix fans. why? cause all they awe about are the special effects (not that that's wrong) but you cant call yourself a fan of the movie if you dont appreciate it's true meaning (aka the plot, theme, and/or purpose). The Wachoski brothers said that when they made the movie: (This quote is not exact)

DNT5 - you've got to slow down there! Can you not just let go and be happy with the fact that some people are hard core (definitely you) matrix fans and there ARE other admirers? Risking getting all patronising on you, you've got to remember that there is a lot out there that you still have to learn - maybe social skills. There is nothing wrong with people asking you to explain the matrix to them - you should be flattered to explain the finer points rather than totally crapping on them. And I'm sure you'll appreciate this when it is your turn to not 'get' some movie, theory, etc.

It is really dangerous to be getting around like you are all-knowledgeable and all-powerful. There is always more to learn and other points of view to listen to.

this post started out with atleast some point and meaning but now it has turned into petty arguments between two individuals...

on the original subject... i think that it takes one viewing to understand a movie, but upon viewing the movie several more times you pick up all the little facts and details that you missed during the excitement of your first viewing...

to DNT5 - i'm sorry, but you are coming across as an arrogant prick who thinks you know everything about the matrix... but i am sure that you do not... and i am in no way stating that i do... don't hack out at people for being ill-knowledged about these films we all adore... give them your backed up opinions and help them to grasp the concept more clearly...

I hope you don't think I'm weak because when I first saw the movie, the first thing I remembered afterwards were not the effects or how they looked, but the concepts behind it...I mean of course the effects were awesome, but to me, it was the entire "idea' of the Matrix that got me hooked...
I think everybody has a right to their own opinion, but I don't think it should be expressed that negatively...but I know how it feels to talk to people who think they know, when they don't.

There will always be people in life that take a subject and make it into a religion onto itself. I think that is what you will see here.

I had a second cousin that found Jesus and was 'saved'. She then tried to convert everyone in the family to her level of excitement and understanding. When we failed to see what she saw, she called us weak and undeserving of it.

Get over yourself. The people here span many age groups, intelligence groups, professional groups, etc. Everyone gets something else out of the movie. As was said before, there are several levels to this movie - some I imagine the Wac brothers never even planned or considered, it just worked that way. Take it however you take it and use it to make you a better happier person or something. Who knows.

ok, message to everyone. The only reason i started this thread was to get people to appreciate the Matrix more for what it meant. If you look above to one of my posts above, you should see a quote from Andy Wachowski of why he and his brother really made the movie. That's all. I'm not trying to make myself so self righteous or anything.

also, the only reason i was talking about everyone being weak was cause septicore was really taking it to a level i didn't intend for the conversation to go to. i must apollogize for him cause i doubt he will. i just meant that he was in a category of people that dont really appreciate the true meaning of things.

to jz-is-me: maybe i just understood the movie faster than many other people, but i am not a hardcore matrix fan. i just saw the movie for the first time a month ago and have only seen the movie twice more after that.

i was surprised to see all these people that had seen the movie 20 times who really still haven't appreiciated it's true meaning, not that they couldn't, but they just didn't look hard enough. i heard these people complaining to me that the movie was hard to understand when they werent paying attention at all to the story when they were watching it. the way i took the movie was the philosophy behind the story: we are living a lie. it just made me think about alot of things. I'm sorry if i offended anyone unintentionally (but i may have offended some intentionally which i will not be too apollogetic about) and i just want people to see a bigger picture when they watch complex movies such as this.

I was simply looking for the trailer then stumbled on to this brilliant site. This particular thread is quite intriguing. Why be upset if another does not see things as you do? Then conversation would stop...

But -- to give a nod to something the thread starter said: the movie has certainly made many people think.

What if we are living a lie? OR, put more correctly, what do we do when we begin to realize we are living a lie?

I'm sure many of us know that it's hard to live in constant battle with the norms of our societies. Isn't it easier to just believe the steak is real?
How many of us can sympathize with that guy?

it's truly amazing how this movie opened so many doors
in our minds.

yes i will admitt sometimes it does get anoying havin to tell people the plot and why this and that happened. but it may take some people a little longer to figure certain complications out. there was alot of stuff to payattention to in it. if u left the room for a second you may miss somethin.

The message of the matrix is about life (including politics and all religions). The matrix is the world all around you - go outside and take a look!. Wherever you are - there it is.

There are those who aren't ready to wake up yet, *the matrix has them*, that makes them dangerous - and they will fight to defend their position within it.

I guess DNT5 has learned one of the lessons of the matrix right here. Like Cypher says "ignorance is bliss". (George Orwell also said it was Strength in 1948 in "1984" - ... did I hear what??)
