A Few Questions for those who have seen both M1 and M2

DWL777

These must be frequently asked, because the answers keep eluding me--

1. Could somebody please explain to me why the Architect needed to shut down the original, "perfect" Matrix, and why they needed the "The One"/Zion cycle to preserve the integrity of the Matrix (i.e., why couldn't they just destroy Zion the first time instead of letting it cycle back into existence 5 times?)

2. What do we all think is Agent Smith's motivation for his actions now that he is free from all of his previous programming? Why does he still wish to kill Neo? Also, why have the other agents not detected Smith as a new anomaly and attempted to eliminate him?

3. What's up with Neo controlling the Squideys at the end of part II? The most obvious answer would be that Zion is an illusion, since we have no reason to belive that Neo has any special powers outside the Matrix as we know it. But what evidence do we have apart from the spoon? (Agent Smith's ability to upload a copy of himself into the "real" world doesn't count. Because the Matrix selves of the people that jack in are their respective consciousnesses, it makes sense that if an Agent were to corrupt these images it would be the same as corrupting their real-world minds.)

4. I must have missed this one because it seems to me that they must have explained it somewhere at least once. Why must the ships leave Zion in order to jack into the Matrix? Can't they just do it from home where the Squideys can't get them?

5. Another thing I may have missed--the kid that Neo saved who keeps tagging along with him and later delivers that disk. Do we know how that happened? Did we ever see it?

I guess the most confusing thing to me is the Architect question. I feel like I should understand it because the version of reality that the Architect presents to Neo is the one that the audience is supposed to believe. Questions 2 and 3 can at best be met with intelligent speculation, and Questions 4 and 5 are only up there because I'm stupid and may have not been paying attention when they happened.

Take some time, think, and post. I'll be watching you.

1. the first matrix was too perfect fot the unperfect humans. they need zion to collect the people who cannot live in the matrix

2.maybe he's just gone mad.maybe he's a virus.

4.why do they need phones in the matrix to go back?

5.he delivers no disk but a spoon. he's from the animatrix "kid's story"
Osyris

1. People were rejecting the utopia. Entire crops of humans were lost. Part of the trick is to see if neo would give up the fight to reset the matrix. It was all a test to me. They destruction of zion is just added pressure for the one to make the decision. It could be that the architecht is a program designed by the matrix to outwit and deter "the one" from performing anything that they view as threatening. It was all an act of desparation on the machines part. Its not like the architecht had to speak the truth. He is most likely the real world equivalent of satan testing christ in the desert.

2. Good question. Smith hates neo for taking away smith's purpose thus giving smith a new purpose but is actually the same. (trucky one)

3. Why doesn't neo have any special powers outside the matrix? WHo says he doesn't?

4. No, they have to be at a broadcast depth or at a sentinel broadcasting terminal

5. no clue, maybe something in the animatrix or enter the matrix game. maybe just a plot thickener that had no previous relevance.

1. A perfect society in this world even wouldn't work! since the crops etc... and so "The One" is to reload the Matrix killing all and picking those people to rebuild Zion, but the Architect is like a program like the guy before me said exactly which I cant put into words like that because he took them out of my mouth

2. Smith he is the entire war...he's the one that Neo must destroy in order to end the war with the Machines and all of Zion but Smith does hate Neo for what he did to him also and how he out did him and how Smith killed him but some how he managed to survive.

3. Him stopping the Machines is just some how he may have found the answer that he realizes possibly there is a Matrix within a Matrix which is where that theory kicks in.

4. The phones are like the internet when your on a dial up connection you need to dial into the matrix exactly like the internet's dial up servers and the ships probably have to be moving and so it powers it up so they can enter and so they use the phones and hack into the Matrix's phones to enter but they can't do it inside Zion if they had to move the ships while they're powered because I'd see it'd get hectic moving those ships in that area since they're pretty big in size.

5. What the hell that kid, we never saw it once! they just explain Neo is said to have saved him when Neo say's he saved himself and I think it's from the Matrix which is just a guess.

so thats all I have to say

1. these are all very stupid questions

2. it seems like you all have no lives to come on here and ask stupid Q's like that.

3. how about we concentrate on OUR OWN world created by GOD..not some illusional-plot based movie which has no significance to your life....just the effects are unbeatable...

4. how about these for facts..: *Neo is going to DIE in the 3rd movie.
* Trinity is an AGENT *the movie is based on the bibal
*the movie gets most of its ideas from alice in wonderland
*the series of movies are as follows: 1=being born(Neo awaking from his little compartment filled with goey stuff) --> 2=life(showing the life of Neo, in other words, showing us what it is like to be the one.) --> 3=Death (how and where the life of the one ends...even though i hope he doesnt die)

5. why dont we all...instead of asking stupid Q's , wait till Matrix revolutions come out and im sure that will answer most if not all of your questions...

its just a suggestion haha :)

Lol, it's just a suggestion alright, but a stupid one :)

brilliant answers. However the one question that has still not been answered is why the whole Zion cycle has to keep on happening in order to maintain the integrity of the Matrix?
Raziel85

1. Because they explained in the first movie, actually agent smith did, Because the first matrix was perferct but humans would not except it, so they had to scrap it. WHen he created the new one and inducted the choice thing that would allow humans to accept it, it also created anomoly in it, a problem that always would come back to eventually destroy the matrix, but he figured out a way to fix it. Enter neo who is the remainder of all the problems within the matrix. The architect said he had a code within him that was inherent to the prime program and needed to be put back in, basically to fix the problem. But because of there being a need to have a choice, he had to think of something. The Former Neo's did not fall in love, therefore they had more of an attachment to Mankind surviving rather than choosing to save Trinity, or whoever it was. So they would chose right door. Zion would be destroyed and the code fixed for a time. Neo has to choose 23 people to rebuild zion, so that when the new problems arise and the next gen of Neo is born that he would chose to save mankind because if he didnt then zion would be destroyed and so would the matrix causing the death of mankind. It was made to be a continual loop.

2. After the credits and at the end of the game it shows Smith on a bridge with just miles of him down it. In thte movie when Neo asked him what he wanted, Smith said same as you, everything. Therefore smiths new purpose was to have everything within the matrix. So basically it comes down to where Smith takes over almost everyone in the matrix. Leaving no reason to free the people connected to it or you would have 6 billion Smiths in the real world

3.First, there is no Matrix in Matrix, movie would be ruined and animatrix explains that in the history taht zion was the last human city. But he has the power to stop the squiddies due to his altered conciousness. I dont know how he unlocked it, maybe when he destroyed agent smith, as was explained in the movie, that they rubbed off on one another and he can sense the machines now.

4. In the movie they have to find good broadcasting places, good hardlines. But since zion is at the earths core and far from the mainframe that runs the matrix, they cant get a signal out.

5. Its in the Animatrix film called The Kid. Neo goes in and offers to free him from the matrix basically. he will play more of a part in revolutions.

1. It seems to ME that if someone were asking these questions about the plot and the way things work in a book, nobody would get all "you don't love God" and "you have no life" on me then.

2. For someone who seems to love God so much, why can't you spell "bible?"

3. Just because Morpheus references Alice in Wonderland when giving Neo his choice of pills in the first movie doesn't mean the movies are based on that book.

4. Although the movie may appear to have a biblical root or subtext, the ideas in it are really even older than the bible. The archetypes of the hero with superhuman powers (exceeding those of his peers), the kindly "wizard" or mentor helping him to develop such powers (Morpheus), the threshold guardian helping the hero to cross into a new level of his journey (the Oracle, the Keymaker), the choice between love and saving his fellows, the important task that needs to be accomplished...all are ancient patterns appearing in many legends, from Gilgamesh to Greek mythology to the Bible to Star Wars. So apparently, you're not the only one who's done a little reading, smartass. (By the way, that doesn't discount the spiritual subtext of the movie. But the Bible isn't the only source of spirituality in the world, you know.)

4. Finally, it kind of pisses me off that since you're posting anonymously, you don't have to accept any sort of consequences, such as me punching your face in, for calling me stupid.

Now that I'm done ranting and raving at the jerk whose sole purpose in posting was to make himself look smarter than everyone else and make them feel bad, props to Raziel85 for posting what I thought were the most helpful answers to all my questions.
Except for the one about Neo controlling the Squideys. Although you seem to think that having a Matrix inside the Matrix would ruin the movie, I respectfully disagree. A lot of this movie's message, I think, has to do with not believing everything you see, right? So wouldn't it just pound the message home even more if all the people who thought they were finally out of the water really weren't? Although, given the originality of the rest of the movie, that would be kind of a lame plot twist. But I think it would be even lamer for them to turn around and be like, "well, Neo's the chosen one, so I guess he's got telekinesis in the real world too. Solves everything!!" Plus, don't forget about the spoon from the orphan. I think that could be a strong hint about what's real about Zion. In the Matrix, he told Neo "There is no spoon." What is he telling Neo now?

See, I don't know what that other guy's problem was. I like discussing movies. I guess the only thing he was right about was the fact that we're going to have to wait until Revolutions comes out before we finally know the answer.

By the way, has anybody played the game yet? Wanna give me a little review?

#2
I just want to awnser #2 question with a question of my own, if you were the top dog in your town and all people feared you and were in awe of your power then some guy just walks in and kicks the crap out of you, wouldn't you be a little pissed and want revenge? Just a little thought of my own.
Raziel85

Ya, i think taht the orphan was telling neo to remember that there is no spoon, that he can do what he wants to, even maybe here. But i just really dont think it could be a matrix in the matrix thing, atleast i really hope so.

I thought it was because only 98% of humans accept the matrix really, but if the 2% are given the choice between the matrix and zion, 98% of them happily choose the matrix. Maybe it's more a choice between what is known and what is unknown, like when neo took the pill, but something (zion) has to exist as that unknown alternative. ??? What do you think?

thanks!
machine'sghost

Sorry, I forgot this part- allowing zion to exist is also a way of buying neos' (the previous ones anyway) cooperation. A small compromise from the machines, just enough to give the humans hope (and purpose) without giving any real power. ??
