Cost Efficiency of the Matrix to the Machines

The humans are the sole power source for the machines, but like any computer, the Matrix requires power itself. But the Matrix probably requires more power than the human bodies can dish out. This is because each human that is born and added to the Matrix means that more power is needed to operate and maintain it.

Besides, even if the humans body warmth and bio electricity alone can power the Matrix, I doubt that there will be any left for the rest of the machines at the end. So how can there be millions of sentinels trying to dig into Zion if most of the human energy is going towards to operate the Matrix.

Maybe the machines direct more electricity to run their race when humans are sleeping. When a humans goes to sleep in the Matrix, then maybe their energy is directed from maintaining the Matrix and more towards recharging the squidies Duracells.

Does anyone else have any theories on the energy maintenence of the machines?

I have a theory: It's a movie. Therefore if they say they are using us for energy, then they are.

I imagine people generate more energy than they consume.

You've seen the fields and the rows and rows of thousands upon thousands of humans being used....the energy level is so huge that I'm sure they have stored batteries and that's what they use to power Sentinels and other machines.

They don't have a human inside of them like a battery pack.
The humans are the source, but I'm sure they have storage vessels to store the generated power.

But, on topic, I think it's a silly idea to use humans as batteries. Proper fusion power plants would work much better. But without us little humans batteries as a premise, it'd be a dull movie.

Perhaps they not only require physical energy but also human innovation? ... I think the premise of using humans as batteries could be done much more efficiently ... but just perhaps the humans in the Matrix who are programmers are really coding for the machines?!? (sinister music enter ...) Providing a dual purpose.
