Why that nickname?

So I was talking to ThisIsNotReal, ( quite a decent chap actually ), and he asked me how I got my nickname.

So, I thought we could post out how we got our nicknames.

I'm really interested in learning a few of my friends ( Neo-sporin... and a few other peoples ) names.


My name:

Zehirut, the way its originally spelt, in Hebrew, means Look Out.

Before you ask yourself "Is X Hebrew?" nope, I'm not, I stumbled across this handle by sheer accident.

I have always hated the letter Zed ( Z for those who don't call it by its proper name ) and I thought because Zed and X are pronounced the same in the English language I could take a liberty with my favorite letter of the alphabet. ( X.. if you haven't figured it out yet.. ) I freely took the liberty, and changed it.

I got Xehirut....

ThisIsNotReal here, I was just never prone to picking names like one word, then a whole bunch of numbers. Too messy for a nerd like me. So i copied off of ENTER THE MATRIX, and used the password to get your mail...ThisIsNotReal...That's me story, and i'm sticking to it!

LoL, i came up with mine when me and my friends were watching m1 a while ago and it seems that "neo" has got the "treatment" for every situation, regardless of how bad a situation he is in.

So i just started calling neo, "Neosporin" outa knowhere and my friends were laughing there arses off... so they all call him neosporin.


Its so stupid that its actually funny.Its just cheap amusement

I have had the name of Trinity before the matrix came out. I have used it on the pc for 5 years and when I was younger I used Trinity on the CB radio. I have always loved it because I believe in the 3 theory. Everything comes in threes good or bad.

I also was going to name my next child Trinity but he turned out to be a boy I called him Ewan.

So there you have it. Oh I also have been a big believer in Tri Kaya.

I got my nickname when I decided that I should choose the name I would call myself when I were set free from the Matrix...I was obsessed with the thought of becoming Neo and Trin's daughter, so I picked the name Dawn, cause to me it's like "a new beginning"..."the dawn of a new world...so that's how I got my nickname :) Not that original, but it means a lot to me.

That's interesting because my best friends name is Dawn and when she had her first Baby it was a little daughter so she named her Eve, since then she has had no more children and I don't think ever will lol, but I always loved that premis.

Atari. A legendary name in computer entertainment. An Atari VCS was my first gaming console. Distributor of the Enter The Matrix game.

DCLXVI. 666 in roman numerals.

when i first saw the matrix, the deja vu scene really stuck in my mind because i had often wondered myself what deja vu meant, and why it happend.. and to see it incorporated into the matrix as a glitch was really nifty, so.. yeah.. it became my handle for this board. the end:)

i chose my name because i wanted a different name. most of the time i normaly call myself Goshin when i join a forum but as been this is a matrix forum and i like neo i just called my self ./Ne0\. because most other ways of spelling it are taken

First thoughts went to the Matrix characters of course, but found that I was way to humble/ to consider any of them for myself. I have also always believed in having my own identity rather than taking/borrowing from others.

I am a Leo, and as a kid my favourite books were Astrid Lindgren's: "The Lionheart Brothers" (don't know if this is a correct translaton of the Norwegian/Swedish Brödrene Lövhjerte): A young boy is sick and dying - his older brother sacrifices himself to die with his young brother - so he may protect him in the next world. The next world is full of bad creatures (dragons, trolls etc) but they have to go on a journey to reach the gates of the third and final world - kind of paradise. This was why the older brother decided to die with his younger brother, because a failure to reach the third world would leave him in eternal pain or something.
Or this is at least how I remeber it now - it's more than 20 years since I read it so my memory might have holes.

Anyway, all this lead me to wanting a name with Lion, but Lionheart sounds a bit to pompeous to me (like a bad action movie). While playing around with the name I ended up with Liondale which I think sounds good phonetically. Don't know - haven't actually checked - if it means anything, but that's what I went with.
Pretty long story for a couple of minutes hard thinking ;)

hmm, let me go back in the day, when i first came up with the handle "gurrlpunk." it has absolutely nothing to do with the matrix, obviously. i made it up when i was in the 9th grade and making a yahoo! email account. i put punk cuz i can be one sometimes, kinda like a prankster/trouble maker, and because i listen to some punk. and the "gurrl" is cuz i couldn't think of anything cool. i think gurrlpunk is better than punkgurrl... but i dunno, i guess it's a crappy handle. my bad

You guys might think this is stupid but used my cat's name as my user name. I named him after the bad brother from the movie "Desperado". The character is ruthless and a bully and so is my cat but I love him to death.

my name is a combo of two thing:

1. jthm- Johnny the Homicidal Maniac. my real name is not johnny, but i got my name from the author of happy noodle boy comics (the base of funkyhorror's name) Johnny the Homicidal Maniac drawn by Johnen Vasquez (also known for Invader Zim)

2. 667- a friend of mines email is jesus667 i always found it funny that he had christ then ALMOST satans number, im easily amused thus jthm667 was born

My nickname used to be CrashHandler, but since it sounded so stupid I just decided to abbreviate it to CraHan. Little did I know that CraHan would actually be a last name for some people :rolleyes:

But since a lot of people knew me under that name I stuck with it. Been using it since 1999 or so.

I think it sounds good, can't remember how i came up with it .. Also easy to remember ;)

It's actually about a couple of pot smoking Harley Davidson riders. It had the "Born to be wild" as the title song of the movie (now don't tell me you haven't heard of that either :) ), and it's more about that (Born to be wild) than actually driving...

It was either "Methuselah" or "Mahalalel / Mahalael" that I was planning on using for my nick, since those two names struck me as "worthy" (they're names from the bible, or so I believe. Sons of Cain, probably...)

So, instead of using one of them, I decided to mash them together, and voila! Methelael....Sounds like a name you would give to a machine (or so it does to me), and since I have an affinity for the machines in the Matrix (squiddies 0wn!), there you go....

i got my nickname by playing to much of a game called deus ex (it actually has a matrixy feel to it) and one day at school my english teacher heared me talking about it and she asked if i knew what deus ex means (i didnt) so she told me it was latin and it was part of a sentance which was deus ex machina, then she told me it translated to " the machine from god) so i thought that was such a cool name whin i signed up here it had to be my name(plus it was the only one i could think of at the time)

That's strange...that's not the true translation of the phrase Deus-and yeah I love Deus Ex too! A masterpiece-and part 2's just over the horizon! :D Deus Ex Machina actually means 'God IN a machine'...not very clear on what that means...its pretty obscure and definitely religious.

I have always loved UT. Due to the game, Unreal Tournament. However, when I origionally signed up here, I was aiming for Trinity (as I'd been using that nick for years, even before the movies came out). But alas, it was taken. So I made it UltimateTrinity. Then I kicked my ass as I wanted to make it UnholyTrinity, (which is used btw by another awesome woman and admin of another Matrix forum who also goes by the shortened nick UT herself. But that's a story for another time lol) Then after a couple of thousand posts, and people either calling me mum or UT I shortened it like PP has. Now if I can only get ThereIsNoMatrix to do the same lol.

Splinter wasn't actually my first choice for a name. I was going to pick Only_Human. But the site wouldn't let me. So I chose the name Splinter when I joined because I liked the whole idea of "A Splinter in your mind". And it had a nice ring to it, I thought.

I like Splinter; it reminds me of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles...except you're kinkier than the TMNT Splinter ;)

-Seraph~011101 : Used on MM : Basically, I wanted my name to be a lesser-known character. Since Seraph was already taken, I did the 011101 in the back because that was his made-up binary code.

-Seraph : Used on MH : Same thing as above. However I began to feel unoriginal.

Basic Sites--

-Psycho : Used on Basically Every Site : My most well-known name. It came from CS when I was trying out for a clan. I was knifing people and they started calling me "Scream", but I chose Psycho. It is also the name of my production/gaming company -- Psycho Studios.

Comes from the name Beowulf actually. Shortened it to my own personal username whic ironically came out to look like Neo cept with a 'B'. And for those of you who don't know, it's pronounced 'Bay-oh' not 'Bee-oh'.

I finally discovered the origin of the username 'eRider'. It's a danish phrase going 'Er I der?' which means 'Are you there?' .. a phrase you can use at rock concerts etc.

My username represents a site I go to occasionally.

Well those of you who know my username was originally theonealmighty which means god, chosen one, anomaly or the one and only etc. because those who believe in the lord know he is the one almighty but about a year ago I changed it to AlmightyOne which indefinitely means the same.

I have always loved the big GM cars, Chevrolet Caprice being the most prominent of them in my eyes. Perhaps this is also why I own one? LOL

Well, my choice for picking this screen name was my vision. I've had bad vision for as long as I could remember. So much so, that I think my other senses are enhanced. The best one being my ears. I feel like f*cking DareDevil of DC comics, all the comic book fans out there know who he is, and for those of you who don't know, they even made a movie about him. Same title and all. So yeah, I got super freakin' great hearing! I'm surprised I can't hear you reading this right now. lol

But yeah, my vision is so bad I should be collecting disability checks at home. Its bad. Bad. Lucky for me, modern day medicine has fixed this for me as of 2 years ago through the miracle of contact lenses and soon enough laser surgery. Or an operation, not sure which yet...

Anyway, I'm begining to ramble.. I picked SQuiNTZ2020 cuz I had to squint almost my whole life. The "Z" because its just cooler than an "S" lol, and the 2020 cuz I got 20/20 vision now.

there are several reasons why i chose this screen name, one is that i knew no one would actually choose this screen name, another is that it does resemble who i am.

When i register i thought the trinity was going to have a kid in the third installment. My guess was wrong. But i still like it.
