TV Series

Anyone know if a Television spin off is likely?

It has happened with many other films - X-Men, Stargate etc.

and we've already had some spin off's - AniMatrix...

I hope they wouldn't do it. It would water down the experience for me. Things like the animatrix are cool though, because it's a limited feature too. I'd like to see a second animatrix DVD released just after M3 though. But if you start turning things into a series you'll get cheap cgi and very thin storylines.

Personally I thought that Stargate was excellent as a TV series, they
concentrated far more on the characters and storyline than special
effects.

With TV you can take much longer to spin out a storyline and
flesh it out over several episodes. With film you have to fit it all
into a couple of hours, or drive people nuts by waiting 4 years
for 'episode2'!

X-men started as a comic actually. From there it progressed to TV cartoon, and then they made a movie. Stargate, however, was a true spinoff, and an excellent one at that. They raraly make them that good.

And a spinoff for the Matrix would be a bad idea. While I agree that they can expand more on the characters, they shouldn't over-do any of it. That's why the AniMatrix is a great idea. 9 Episodes for a nice history lesson. They could make another 9, if they wanted to, but then people would know everything. And that's exactly what they're trying to avoid. They want to keep us having our discussions.

Well I wish they don't do any series with The Matrix. The Matrix is a myth, a phenomenon that should not (and cannot I think) be transcribed into a TV series. Even if it is, though, the real Matrix fans will say it sucks.

I hope they don't, and I really don't see it in the future anytime "EVER" but I doubt the brothers would do it ... they arn't going to let them do anything they didn't invision... and i hope they didn't invision ruining the matrix by putting out a little cartoon show every weekend...

I also hope they don't make it a TV series, I hate those that goes on forever and nothing really happens: Like a man searching for something...spending 645 episodes to get from A to B....

If it happens I will start shooting people. The Animatrix was concieved to further explain the story, not as a spin-off.

I'm not sure if I would want a Matrix series. It could just as easily ruin all the Matrix saga.

And no, there must definitely never ever exist a Matrix television show. If it does, people will die, planets will collide, stars'll supernova, galaxies will crumble, and the whole of reality will collapse in on itself. Therefore it's a bad idea.
