ok forgive me if this one has been put forward already... but:
we know that in M1 agent smith can control sentinals... i assume we all agree that his main objective is to kill neo...perhaps stopping the sentinals was his way of getting close to neo again (aboard the hammer) so that HE himself could kill neo, perhaps pride?
