Neo is not the one

The oracle said in the first one that neo was not the one because she jus said so. And the reason neo can do all this stuff is because he believes he can. Which trinity and morpheus said all u have to do is believe and he did. Which doesnt necessarily mean he is the one. So tell me what u believe on this subject

you have a point but if hes not the one then who is??? I think it would be cool if morpheus became the one.

In the Matrix 1 the Oracle told Neo he was not the one:
Oracle: 'Sorry, kid. You got the gift, but it looks like you're waiting for something'
Neo: 'What?'
Oracle: 'Your next life maybe, who knows? That's the way these things go.'

In his next life Neo could be the one.. and that is exactly what happend! Neo was killed by agent Smith. And after that incident he became the one.

But the oracle only tells you what you want to hear. at the beginning of M1, Neo didn't believe he was the one. but at the end he does. she also says that 'Being the One is just like being in love, no one can tell you you're in love you just know it, through and through. Balls to bones.' neo just knows at the end, not at the part when he meets the matrix

The Oracle tells you want you NEED to hear, not what you want to hear. I agree that Neo is the one, and that theory of "maybe in your next life" (with Mr. Anderson dying and Neo coming back to life as the One) is a VERY good interpretation.

When the Oracle agrees with him that he is not the one. She means is that he is not the one because he has doubt. Your only the one when you act it. Believing will not make you the one. You have to, in action, do with out doubt. This causes there to be no cross currents and you enter the field of pure action.

Exactly - this is, I believe, the correct interpetation. I also thought that the Oracle's comment was a bit of foreshadowing of the later revelation that Neo is the 6th incarnation of "The One" (and I thought it amusing that the "French" AI said that Neo's predecessors had more respect, lol)

Hey, people have you thouht of this (actually another user in another thread thought of that, but I'm going to say it again here in this thread): Neo is the annagram of the ONE, so how can't he be the one?
