I read the critics and had my expectation low because of it. I just watched it for the first time. I see that it was working on a much higher level than the original. Making it much less accessible. Most people do not have the attention span. So this is the basics to help. The first one was the ground work on how the human race is plugged into the matrix. The second brings the real world and the matrix into the same playing field. The matrix is a programed reality with many different levels. Neo uncovers a higher level. Were there are meta-programs controlling lower ones. But the real world is also made of programs, not neccassarily as comuter oriented. In each system there are anomilies that can never fully be controlled by master programmers, keeping the future uncertain. Study chaos theory and general systems theory. Neo is the anomily(uncertain element of action) of light and agent smith turns into the anomily of dark. Neo is starting to be able to control the real world. Each being has a purpose, including the AI machines. This purpose was made beyond the achitects, being a achitect is their purpose. There is no freedom other than making the choice to complete your purpose. It looks like the third movie is set up to have the two opposite anomlies, come together to discover the original source of the whole universe, matrix and non matrix. Anomolies crash systems. As the system crashes the source is discovered. Anomlies hold the greatest life force, due to the fact they hold the greatest complexity. Having the greatest comlexity, it can only stay in exsistance by having a cooresponding simple essence or core. This inner simlicity leads it to be closer to the ultimate source which has the simplest core of all.
