Theory for basis for big Zion party!

Although I reacted negatively seeing the Zion dance/party at 1st & wonder how it fit into h Matrix theme I have come to understand why the Bros. put it in there, I think... it was thrown in the mix to show the very thing that makes us human - passion , love & sensuality - something machines cold never feel.

:: it seems funny but i called the scene the "almost orgy" the big speech by morpheus started an almost primal dance somewhat simular to a rave... im not sure if they still have electric keyboards in zion or what, however this scene mixed with the sex scene was to show us that in the real world love is more passionate more primal and somewhat entrancing.

in the context of the fim you also have to realize that Morpheous speech exhorted them to shed their fear - he asked them to 'shake this cave' and to send that army of machines a message that 'we are Zion and we ARE NOT AFRAID!!!' So what better way to exhibit no fear than to have a big party and get yo' freak on!!! I thought it was alright - I just wont let me 10 yr old watch that movie til its on DVD and I have contol over what he can see.

That's a very good point although I do still feel that it was a pointless scene to have.

I usually abhor sex scenes but I found this one to be completely enthralling. *Shrugs* I could actually watch it, and the dancing was showing that Zion was human - they were enjoying themselves, something only Smith ever seems to do from the non-exiled machines. Well, I liked it anyway.

I must agree with all you guys who think that the rave party scene as well as the lovemaking scene gave a human and passionate touch to the movie. And I think they were correctly placed (as far as timeline is concerned) as well as correctly sized (as far as duration si concerned).

That Party was for humanity to remember what it is fighting for, Love, without love our race dies... I feel this is why we saw such close intimate contact...it was sexy but not sexual also another thing the machines cant do is Love or Trust, notice how many times the word Trust is used in the movie. Trust and faith are human qualities.

I think the Zionites were just displaying their traditional behavior: whenever they congregate in a group, they rip off their clothes and grind their bodies together ... doesn't matter if they're dancing in the temple or shopping at the mall. How else do you expect them to go from 23 people to 250,000 in 100 years???

zion is HELL. its decadent and the people dance in an entertaining yet monotonous way. whenever they can, trinity and neo lust for the primal sin.

i have to admit that at first my reaction to the dance cum sex scene was unfavorable. i kinda felt that the scene was prolonged to sell sex as most advertisers do. but reading some of the replies here made me realized that it was a showcase of the human race and what we truly are.
