Matrix Theory of Knowledge

I have a question for you guys, let see how hardcore you guys really are.

1) What was Tom Anderson looking for and why did he have so much difficulty in finding it?

2) What is the structural oringin of the Matrix? What is artificial intelligence (AI)?
What do the two have in common? Who are the agents and what are the sentinels? How do they differ from human beings?

3)What is the meaning behind "There is no Spoon"? What did Neo imply when he cut the elevator cord and stated: "there is no spoon."

Thanks for reading and hope you guys reply, I wanna hear what you think.

2) I think that the structural origin of the Matrix is a system to keep humans under control--a virtual cage, as it were. AI is the artificial, digital conscience of a being (think The Bicentennial Man). They're different in that the Matrix isn't really conscious; it's just a background. AI is conscious. Agents are AI, but exist only as programs in the virtual world. Sentinels are AI, but are Machine in nature and therefore are artificial. They were not natrual; man created them. Man is intelligent and conscious.

3) "There is no spoon" I wonder. Is Neo referring to the fact that, despite all the trickery and convincing qualities of the world around him as he experiences it, it is still all fake?

I'm still trying to answer 1). Excellent questions, theonerb.

This isn't about us, it's about you. How hardcore are you, really? Why are you just now posting this, and why are you just now joining this site? I truly hope you just "discovered" this movie...otherwise, shame on you and go back to your hole.

Aw, PP, don't go scaring then00brb away so soon. But you are kinda right. Where did Mr. Know-it-all go? He needs to get back in here and defend his self-formed rep before we tear him all to pieces.

Here's a good question: How do the hovercrafts connect to the Matrix?

The Osiris was able to have that one hot chick jack into the Matrix on the fly ... while it was flying ... while it was under attack.

This implies a wireless connection.

Thus, the information that makes up the Matrix is transfered back and forth over a global wireless network. All the hovercrafts need to do is park next to one of the Machine's wireless router-equivilents and presto - intsant Broadband Matrix connection.

No more screwing around with stupid dial-up. :P
0Silence1

The ships don't plug into the matrix the chairs are connected to the computers and the computers hack into the matrix. Just like a house doesn't hack a computer does.

You know if some of you new members would do some searches, you find some very good submissions that would answer many of your questions. Maybe even inspire you to ask some original ones.......

Anyway, I'm a sport......

1.) The Matrix.
Because he did not know what it was.

2.) This is unclear.
A synthesized, self-aware, singular consciousness
This is unclear.
Measures of control.
Seriously.....I hope you're kidding.

3.) It isn't real. "I thought is wasn't real."
"Your mind makes it real."
Neo must prevent his mind from making the unreal real.

Parts of your second question need some specificity for you are asking broad questions that could amount to thesis statements for dissertations. Narrow it down.

lol, the thread kinda drifted away from what i was saying. is the matrix wireless?
Titan

No, they all have really long network cables, its how the sentinels find them, but somehow, due to either utter stupidity, or because they like humans and want to give em a go, manage to fail to notice the HUGE ship in front of them, despite the masses of heat that must be radiating from the pads. Hmmm?

In conclusion, the Matrix is a mass of cable, that all connect into a server that is in Zion. Big Conspiracy, the councillors are really agents. Man this post is getting dumb. Whoever asks me if this is actually what happens is going to get a slap. Metphorically, of course. And i mean asking seriously, no umm oldies saying, is this true?!!!11 W00t, i ahve unc0vered the s3cr3t of the M4tr1X

I am shutting up now!

i think the ships connect to the Matrix wirelessly.
Apollo440

Yeah they do thats why they have Broadcast depth, if they had cables they'd probably jack in from Zion. and only use the ships to get Red Pills
Patriot

Good point. I hadn't thought of it that way. ... i thought that if they used wires, they couldn't jack in from Zion anyway because the machihens would cut the wires ... but that's not nessicarily so either
Apollo440

I do suppose they could run wires through the Tunnels and set up a beacon in broadcast depth that recieves the signal run the wires back down to Zion and just jack in from there, although as you said there is a risk of the Machines cutting the wires and maybe using a wire causes lag.....
Patriot

not to mention cutting the wires would be fatal to the operative
Apollo440

Exactly i imagine it would have the same effects as a ship dropping out of broadcast depth when someone is jacked in, Which could be why the Osiris never escaped since they had to stay high enough that she could complete her mission. Of course odds of there escape was slim anyway.
Patriot

Um, I thought the Osiris knew they were lost before the gal ever jacked in at all. That's why she jacked in: because it was the only way to send the information to Zion. (they knew they'd never make it there)
Apollo440

Well they definitly knew they had to contact Zion and the only way to do that for sure was for her to jack in
Patriot

I don't see the difference between what I just said and what you just said
Apollo440

Yeah there probably isn't one. The first draft i wrote went on for a few paragraghs, until i got lost and realised i was just repeating that had they not gone into the Matrix they might of had a bigger chance of survival but they were dead anyway, so i thought i'd cut it down a bit and at this point i had forgot what you said so yeah to sum up; I agree.
Patriot

OK ;) what else was there to talk about here ?
Kid

1) He was trying to find out what is the MATRIX and think wouldn't it be almost impossible if millions of programs try to stop you from finding out what the Matrix is. Plus, agents would kill you the second they knew you knew.
2) For the first question watch the Animatrix. Artificial intelligence is a thing that is inanimate object that has the ablilty to think for itself. AI created the Matrix. Agents are programs that stop people from getting out of the Matrix and try to kill people who are out/know of the Matrix. Sentinals kill people who are out of the Matrix and live in the real world. There inanimate (AI).
3)It's giving Neo confidence that he can do it and that this whole thing is just a virtual reality.
Titan

Sorry about my noob post earlier in the thread.

It puzzles me that the Matrix, which is all contained in the area that is where Neo sees the tower, and the power is linked via huge cables to Machine City, would have a wireless transmission. There is some link from Machine City to the Matrix "Hub", but again, could be through cables.

This being said, if no transmission through the air is neccessary, then how can the ships hack in wirelessly. One could imagine that Redpills and Free Borns could have installed wireless transmitters, but its likely that the Machines would have discovered these.

So really, how do they hack in. The Matrix has no need to transmit wirelessly, so if it doesnt transmit, how could it receive, and then how could it be hacked into?

Thats really gonna bake your noodle later.
