I'm up late and should get to bed because I have work early tomorrow, but screw it. I'm gonna write this fan fiction. Sorry for all you Star Wars geeks out there, if I butcher anything about the Star Wars universe. I'm basically making this up as I go along. I love the Star Wars series, but am unfortunately not particularly knowledgable about them. I've read a few books, and seen all six movies, and am pretty sure that Yoda is one of the darned coolest characters in all of cinematic history, which is why I started wondering how Yoda started out. Again, sorry if I butcher anything here, Star Wars maniacs, but here goes nothing.
Chapter 1: Dyrth Caedo
The cold expanse of space stretched out before the massive ship as its captain stared out at the glittering stars and the inky blackness. He adjusted his uniform, and looked down at himself, nodding. He looked good enough. He hoped. Soon his master would be arriving, and he wanted to look good for his master.
After all, if his master didn't believe he was receiving proper respect, he would obviously be killed.
That was how Sith were.
The captain squinted as he tried to make out the faint outlines of a planet not too many parsecs away. He wondered if this planet was the one they were looking for.
His master had claimed it was. Something to do with some intangible "Force" or something like that. Apparently the Force was exceptionally strong on the planet, but the captain didn't really buy into any of that. He had heard people all over the galaxy talk about this "Force" thing, of course. Jedi, for the most part.
But he had never really liked the Jedi. They were few in number, and nothing really compared to the enormous power that the Sith wielded. That was what had attracted Captain Hatlori to seek out the Sith. It hadn't really been a difficult task. They were everywhere. It was the Jedi that were hard to find. The Sith had had control of the galaxy for many many years, far longer than Hatlori cared to think about. They wreaked havoc and destruction wherever they went, always quelling any Jedi rebellions that threatened to start up. They had recently stopped on a planet on the Outer Rim. Tatooine, Hatlori believed it was called.
Didn't really matter. It had been easy enough to crush. His Sith masters had just gone down onto the planet and came back a few days later.
Yes, masters.
The Sith traveled in pairs.
Hatlori had heard rumours that the Sith did this because they were afraid of becoming extinct. He didn't dare ask either of his masters, though. He would surely be killed for such an act.
The captain turned toward one of his aides. "What is taking Dyrth Caedo so long?"
The aide shrugged, then went back to his work. Hatlori frowned. He considered for the briefest second going to check on his master's quarters to see if he was coming, but quickly decided against it. That would accomplish nothing, only death.
And Captain Hatlori was in no hurry to die.
They were getting closer to the planet. They had traveled days to find it. At first Hatlori had been skeptical that there would be anything out here, but Lord Caedo had insisted on it. Hatlori had complied, as always, and now his patience was paying off.
He opened his mouth to speak when he sensed Dyrth Caedo entereing the room. Instantly everyoen was quiet. Even the low humming of the ship seemed to dim slightly in deference to the evil that entered the room.
Hatlori began to sweat involuntarily; despite having been in the Sith's presence so many times before, he never got used to it.
Never.
The clanging of Dyrth Caedo's metal boots bashed against the floor like laser blasts. Hatlori cringed every time the Sith Lord took a step. It seemed to take him ages to arrive.
Finally he was standing by Hatlori's side.
"Grettings, Captain."
Dyrth Caedo's voice seemed to drip with hate, evil, and malice. He wasn't being polite. He wasn't exchanging pleasantries. Behind every word he spoke was a silent threat of death. Hatlori swallowed.
"Greetings, Lord Caedo."
"I see we are approaching the planet," Dyrth Caedo said.
Hatlori looked over at Caedo. He was quite tall for a human, well over six feet high, almost seven, Hatlori guessed. His big bulky framed belied his nearly unbelievable stealth and quickness. Hatlori knew. He had seen the Sith Lord in combat. It was a mighty sight to behold, one of the reasons Hatlori had decided to seek out the Sith in the first place.
"Yes, indeed, Lord Caedo," Hatlori said. "As you requested."
Caedo turned to Hatlori this time, showing his face that was scarred many times over. His straight black hair drooped down to his shoulders, enveloping his face in a curtain of darkness. His eyes seemed to exhude a sense of evil, more than any other part of him.
"How long until we reach the planet?" Caedo asked.
Hatlori turned to an aide. "You there. How long?"
The aide looked up nervously and said, "Approximately 12.5 hours, Sir."
"Good," Lord Caedo said. "That will coincide with what we are planning."
Hatlori wanted to ask what they were planning, but he didn't dare, fearing yet again for his life.
Caedo looked at Hatlori. "You look nice, Captain," he said, grinning evilly. Then he spun around and marched back the way he came, his blood-red robes billowing behind him like an evil cloud.
As soon as he was out the door, Hatlori exhaled in relief. Unwillingly, he had been holding his breath the entire time.
Turning back to look at the planet, he wondered to himself, "What is on this planet?"
