Matrix Reloaded Released MAY 9TH in Chicago Theater? WOW!

Ok, here's the scoop.

I was searching the web a few minutes ago for movie
tickets for Matrix Reloaded. It turns out that a theater
in Chicago (seems like the south side of Chicago) is
playing this movie on May 9th, 2003.

I called em up just to verify, and they told me they
are the only theater (that they know of) to start playing
it so early.

What's up with this? Why would a theater in a crummy
neighborhood get this movie so early? Kinda weird.

Keep in mind that this is a pretty bad neighborhood, so
if you decide to come, it's best to do it in the afternoon
and try not offend anyone. Be careful and best of luck!

I worked in the Video movie rental biz for some time and I was always told that movies are released the same ways DVD's and VHS are. That they all have a certain release date unless they have a premiere issue. Makes me wonder if maybe they will have it in hand on the 9th but actually not be able to show it! Who knows.. but I would give my eye teeth to see it then! lol

Ok, so I figured out why this movie is playing in the south
side of Chicago long before it plays anywhere else (thanks
to a friend).

Apparently, the Wachowski brothers were raised near there
a while back.

i have a female friend that works at that theater and she informed me that M2 will not be playing this was a mistake. It will play on MAy 14 at 10pm on 3 screens.

Luc called there. I would suggest anyone that is in this region and considering going to the rough south side of Chicago, call first.

Luc, the people there confirmed with you that it is sitll showing on the 9th. Get back on the horn and confirm that!

I called them and they said they're not playing it anymore.

Kind funny, because it is in this Chicago paper and it says
they're playing it on the 9th.

sorry to disappoint you luc, but it's all a bunch of bs. i think moviefone meant that you can reserve your tickets for the May 15th showing on May 9th. Yeah, he's right: the first showing is actually gonna be on May 14 at 10PM.

Basically the world premier of the movie is at whichever time zone get's to the time first. That means if you live in New York, you can be one of several to see the movie first. Sucks if you live here on the West Coast.

No, most places started selling tickets on the 1st, including Moviefone I believe.

Luc heard that the opening was some payback to the neighborhood the Wac brothers grew up in or something. I wonder if they are disinforming people to keep the crowd down.

Call the paper and ask why they got that info wrong. Something's fishy here.
