What happened to everything Else?

Hi,

I'm new here so you've probably already answered a dozen questions like this already...(by the way, thanks for having me! Great site :) )

I watch The Matrix movies constantly and I keep coming back to the same questions-
The oracle said that there was a program written for the birds, what happened to all the non-human life forms outside the matrix in the real world?

Mammals (exc. human), amphibians, birds, insects, are they all just programs in the matrix and did any of them survive in the real world? Could other animals (mammals especially) be used for their bio-electricty by the machines?

Also, IF all humans were to be freed from the matrix how would we survive without any of the above and vegetation???

I would imagine that they all died. If they didnt get taken to Zion that is. Given the fact that we are told humans could no longer live on the surface and that when we get to see the planet exterior it all looks rather barren. If the humans didnt take some of the animals and plants to Zion with them then everything is most likely gone.

As for their survival, vegitation is obviously not needed. There is none seen in Zion. It seems they are able to produce their own air, water and food.

I agree TheDon because the animals wouldn't know a damn thing and unless the humans took a few down to Zion to reproduce they would die in the cross fire and only the humans would make it to salvation. Think of it as the Jurassic period and how the dinosaurs died.

As for the food I'm guessing the humans use the machines they have to make the so-called food with everything the body needs as dozer said in M1.

P.S. sounds exactly as what you said in which case is why I totally agree with you TheDon

I agree with the above two posts. As for using the bioelectricity of other organisms besides humans, I'm betting that would have worked. The machines just used humans because they were at war, and it was a convenient way to keep them under control & provide their energy at the same time. I'm guessing all the animals died, because the machines wouldn't have kept something alive that didn't have a purpose.
