Installationproblems

thetwins

Hi, I just purchased the game today, and I have been having quite a bit of trouble with the installation (for PC). For some reason, after I finished installing the game, I click the "Enter the Matrix" icon and it simply states, "d3d9.dll is not working" or something like that. I assume that the 9 means Windows Media Player 9 (which is a requirement for the game) and I have that. Does anyone know whats going on? Also during installation, I encountered an error screen that said, "Wrong volume." What the hell, if anybody has any suggestions, I would be overjoyed to see them. For anybody who knows a lot about computers, this one's for you. Thanks a lot.

I had the same problem. It might be directX 9. Try installing DirectX 9 from the cd. I got an error saying something failed, and I ignored it. Then when I went to run it, i got a similar error about something failing. What I did was navigate on the CD to the directX 9 installation and installed it. After that it, it worked fine.
Hope this helps!

I have to admit, out of the few forums that I have posted this question on, you have been the only one that has offered a helpful comment. However, I did try using the "Play" disc to install directX 9, but for some reason, it keeps telling me to go straight to disc 1. So, I went online, downloaded direct x 9 and windows media player 9, and tried to solve the problem from there. Finally, after going through the installation process about 9 times, I got to the point where I was about to click on the game icon. I clicked it, and it said, "d3d9.dll is not working" or something like that. I talked with a friend about it today, and he informed me that dll files can be downloaded off the internet. He's coming over today to hopefully work it out. I apologize for my rambling, and thanks again for the very helpful advice. Maybe my computer sucks.

open my computer
right click on the cd drive
click explore
navigate to a directory that looks like it contians directX 9 (the dir name is something like dx9)
There should be a setup file in there
run it and install DX9

I'd tell you the exact file name, but I don't have the game here--my g/f has it.
