Ok, so I'm wondering if anyone else is experiencing abnormal weather. Here, for example, we had a delightful day some 36 hours ago. It was sunny and warm, and one could walk around outside without a jacket. I only wish I'd taken the temperature then. Now, it's -9 F and feeling pretty bloody cold. This is the coldest it's gotten all "winter" and, for the most part, we've had weather that's been shooting back and forth between nice and terrible since Christmas.
Here's my question- does anyone think this could be some sort of result of the December 26th Tsunami, or is it just global warming, or some other abnormality? I'll admit I know very little about weather patterns, so any input you folk could provide would be much appreciated :)
Not very likely YOUR weather is because of the Tsunami, because, fistly, that was caused by an earthquake, and secondly, that happened on the other side of the globe.
The winds of the world, or rather, the movement of the air in the atmosphere, produce the weather. The major bringer of weather for the northern part of North America is the Jet Stream. It make fronts head from west to east.
My guess is global warming, because SoCal got loads of rain this past week, and we don;t get that much rain, expecially at the beginning of winter. That and the cold California ocean current doesn't like precipitation.
Yeah I heard there was like 9 feet of snow up in Sierra, thats just insane.
There's also a huge cold front coverming the east and midwest right now. I was IM'ing someone yesterday telling me how much ice its been there.
I was supposed to go up to Tahoe last weekend, but I guess there was 9 feet of snow...on the first fucking night! I think Boreal got 19 feet, and other places at least 15-17 feet over the week. Nuts!!!!
Lots of fresh powder to shred.
I dont know if an earthquake, even a massive one, can alter weather patterns. I dont think that it can, but I dont feel like doing the research needed to back that up. I do know that severe weather is patternistic and usually on a 20 to 50 year cycle. Research your area and see if you are due for some freaky stuff.
It seems like our weather gets worse every year. This year we had what four or five hurricanes hammer Florida, then up here in Indiana we had two feet of snow then it got spring-like warm and flooded and now its very cold again freezing everything. Today is the first day i've seen the sun in two weeks i bet
Aye, about two days ago it was nearly 60 degrees outside over here. Right now it's 4 degrees outside with a -10 degree wind chill. Freakay, eh?
It sounds like a case of The Day After Tomorrow to me. (Saying in a spooky voice.)
Ok, so that wasn't scary but the weather sure is and its happening all over the world. Such as rare Brizil tornadoes, the rain in California, Tsunamis in Asia do to earthquakes?
I for one think there is something going on out of the regular and we the public won't be told due to a possible panic. Hell I live in colorado and the rain from california is going to move east to denver and should drop lots of snow as it did rain.
This year, the year of 2005 is going to really mark a year of weather to remember.
theres a possibility that it could be interelated, like all the pollution drfiting over from asia and fucking over the US, you think pollution like that would be more localized but meh..
i dont see how a tidal wave produces snow but
well here it was 80 degrees, abnormally high....but today it was about 72. All i know is that the north pole shifted and the equator moved slightly.
I don't think the abnormal weather has much to do with the Tsunami itself. However, according to many we have a changing weather climate. Where they get divided is to whether we're going to freeze or burn
Did anyone else here about those two ICE lands that both stretch for more then 10,000 miles, and are going to hit one another. What they're worried about is what some of the ice chunks will and can do when they make way with the water?
Personally I don't know what they could do but it must be bad if politics the media, scientists etc. are all looking into this. Though it isn't going to happen for quite some time but for how long I don't know.
Could this also be due to the strange weather of mother nature or just something that was bound to happen over time?
According to many (sorry I can't cite anything/anyone at the moment) there is a global weather change that will occur. And no, I'm not just going off of the Day After Tomorrow. It just depends on when it will occur. They are saying that when the last ice age occured, it was right after the reign of the dinosaurs and that it had to happen pretty quickly. Because they did actually find a wooly mammoth frozen that still had food still in its stomach.
