Do you need anybody?

Do you think that the 'kibbutz' idea could be applied to places other than Israel, if so, how? and if not, why? do any of you know of similar attempts around the world? (and no, i'm not talking about communist russia or china)

(for those of you who are not familar with the term 'kibbutz' it is a kind social village where the life is like a socialist commune, most of them are based on agricultre and indusrty of some sort, the food and laundry and so on is done communaly and the members of kibbutz receive an equal salary)

It does happen outside Israel. Personally, I'm in favor of such communities so long as they're led by fair people. If such a thing were to become corrupt, all is destroyed.

I heard of communes overseas but not of anything other than that. i'd be intrested to hear more.
Sadly here about a third of the kibbutzim are no longer 100% socialist and have taken part in privtisation, personally I believe that they will regret thier decision in ten years time. Perhaps even less.
