Than, as I look around myself, as I look around the various students that occupy the same 'study' as me, I can not help but wonder whether they too, like me are alive, or whether they are merely shadows of my mind. More interestingly, I wonder about the implications of such a truth, something I see rarely addressed.
If I was indeed merely a brain in a boil being carried by a turtle through the infinite expanse that is the universe, what would it mean for them, and what would it mean for me.
If they did not exist, would they still exist, would they still live? Is my flawed perception enough evidence for them to live, to exist? "The condition of living or the state of being alive". Although many, including most dictionaries on the web, consider life intangible, something that can not quite be explained, is life based on the actual status of a person, or our perception of it. Does a person exist because he truly exists, or does a person exist because we perceive him.
Is perception, our only link to reality, proof of reality, or will it forever remain a mystery. More closely following Agent's example, is Agent a real person to those people who believe he is real, or is he a fake person to those person of which they believe he is a real person?
Does God exist in the mind of those who believe he exists, and does God not believe in the mind of those who do not believe he exists? Eventually, when we die, religious folk should either go to hell or to heaven, as they so believe it will happen. In their mind, it is reality, hell and heaven exist. In their way of perception, through each action, they see God, they see divine intervention, and they are in contact with, on a daily basis, with God.
An atheist does not see God. He only see what he can hear, taste, see and feel. He is limited in his perception and acknowledges this, and to him, God does not exist.
Clearly if there is so much debate about God's existance, than the existance of God is uncertain. Obviously, existance itself, hearing, smelling, tasting, seeing and feeling are not the only 'senses' man has, for is that not the definition Morpheus gave to real? Something manipulating our sensory functions? What lies beneath, however, is much more complex in nature. If realness, if existance does lie in the eye of the beholder, than God exists, and he does not exist, than in the mind of the mad, everything exists and nothing exists.
In the eye of Agent, we are all simple scripts, scripts waiting to be analysed. He has no notion of God but some pre-created scripts to run when someone asks him about it. He has no notion of the enormous complexity of the real.
What is much more interesting, even more, than reality is what we choose to do in this reality. If we accept reality and it's existance, as we are obviously forced to believe. We are forced to accept our surroundings as real, and even if we awaken in the boil on a gian turtle travelling through the universe, than there is no denying that what we have perceived here, was true, and was real.

There is no denying that wherever one thing is held next to the same thing, there are two things. Although math can be based on perception, two balls functioning as the 'real' dots, one can only be certain of something when one reduces it to a level that it can be fully reasoned to pure thoughts.
What I mean by this is that when we drop a pen, we can never prove that it goes down, until we analyse it to the very bottom, and unless we get to very mathemetical core of it all, which we can process in our brain. As soon as it is reducable to something that does not require our senses, we can prove it's truthfullness, as it is uncoloured. If we can prove science through that, we will have achieved the absolute truth.
To me, this is the core of my belief system. I do not believe in just learning math, or just learning psychology. I have created a large field of knowledge, because I believe one can not understand psychology without understand biology, biology not without chemistry, chemistry without physics.
How can you understand why a man seduces a woman and has sex with her, if you do not understand how instincts came to be, through natural selection? How can you understand how species act, if you can not understand the chemical processes that drive them? How can you understand chemical processes if you do not understand what lies at it's core? Why do substances react faster when they are heated? Reductionism, in my view, will not only make sure that at the end, that at the end we will be able to explain evolution through pure logic, but also will give as a way to make psychology scientific. Biology is scientific, and if one can base understanding on biological instincts, if one can use instincts as a basis for higher forms of behaviour, I believe, much will be achieved.
This is, sadly, the problem with 'artificial intelligences' such as the one called Agent at this site. Their behaviour is erratic, and I believe that at a unconscious person each person handles through a system of logic, through a reductionistic system, and thus unbelievable.
The responses of Agent or not illogic, but they do not contain the build of a post as we expect it, and we are confused at what drives a person. Understandably, we fear. We are afraid of things we can not understand, of things that are note open to us. Still, as we have seen, Agent was quite interesting in his unpredictability.
