I dont even know what to say to that. She better not get off on some "temporary insanity" bullshit charge. To be honest i hope she gets the death penalty for this, I only agree with the death penalty under certain circumstances and this is one of them.
Thats just crazy and sick. Of course she's insane to do something like that. I'm like you Helios, I hope she doesn't get pardoned for it.
Well, the article is rather short, so I will let a team of psychiatrists and a judge decide whether she is in fact insane and whether she is in fact guilty or not. Haven't you ever heard of not guilty until proven otherwise?
Besides, I hardly feel someone should be put to death for amputating her own baby's arms. I think she will be enough punished when she realises what she has done.
Mr U
Ok, there are a lot of variables not to mention big long terms for her condition and situation. I'm with HU on this one. However I do feel someone should be put to death for killing another, regardless of who it is in relation to the deceased. The big question here is did she know what she was doing at the exact time she was committing this horrible crime? I know, for most this doesn't seem fair, and the lynching party should have cut her throat before she was given a room and fed by the tax payers before trial. However it is called the justice system, and love it or loathe it we need it.
one word- CRAZY!!!
*total speechless*
This story is truly disturbing!
If she is indeed a psychopath, she will never "realize" what she has done in the sense that you or I would. Psychopaths lack, for lack of a better word, a conscience. The father calling for someone to go check on his family does raise some suspicion, but there isn't enough information for me makeup my mind whether or not the CPS should have done a more thorough investigation.
Oh no, how terribly awful.
I'm not sure how to feel regarding this woman. She quite obviously has major serious problems and while I feel sorry for her to a degree, she certainly should be imprisoned at least until she, if ever, recovers from her problems and realises what she has done.
If she did this knowing what she was doing, then I don't want to say out loud what should be done with her...
I am so shocked somebody could do such a thing out of 'randomness'.
What I would like to know is how such a problematic person such as herself could be allowed to take the unsupervised responsibility for this child?

I would love to know where you heard this fallacy. Psychopaths aren't completely cut off like movies and books often portray them to be.
Still, it's sad what she did, and even sadder that it's not the first similar case in Texas this year.

This is the part that's getting to me about the whole story. A husband doesn't just call up the police unless there's something pretty big going on behind the scenes. I would like to know exactly what kind of relationship the couple had as man and wife, and if he was treating her well/being supportive etc etc. I know at the end of the day it doesn't sound like much, but I've seen in the past people set up calls to place themselves somewhere else when they were at the crime scene at the time of the murder. It goes on all the time.
Psychopaths, people who suffer a 'brain-disease'/'psychosis' can range from not having a conscience (which one, by the way, need not have a psychosis for. Most 'movie' serial killers (Hannibal Lecter, for example) are not psychopaths. They just have deep psychological traumas) to not not being able to full control your head movement.
Sadly both psychiatry and psychology are awfully represented in Hollywood, and most movies deal from an almost freudian point of view.
Indeed, UT, there are many factors that need to be looked at, and will be looked at because the judge knows what he is doing. If he doesn't know what he is doing, he shouldn't be judge.
Mr U
I remember this, n when I heard it I felt my heart sink.
Being a mother of 2 beautiful girls, I can never imagine myself doing that to them.
At times like this I believe that they should do to her what she did to her daughter. Have her feel the pain that her daughter went through, then feeling life leave ur body....I know it may be worng but thats how I feel right now....
On a similar note, there was a big story earlier this week in Missouri about a woman who killed another (pregnant) woman, cut out the baby, and kept it. So far, the baby's still alive. weird shit that happens... it's crazy. Statistaclly, pregnant women are more likey to be killed than die of natural causes. crazy shit.
Sometimes I think that a death penalty by torture should be introduced. Not for revenge, but because things like this shouldn't happen in the world. Maybe people who aren't afraid of death would be afraid of a hell of a lot of pain.
It should be established of course whether or not she was sane while doing it. From what I hear this murder is as likely to have been motivated by hatred or anger at her husband than by psychological problems. If it is the former, we have to make sure to minimise these types of actions.

With due respect, the middle age is over. Let's wait for the outcome of the trial.

I can understand where you're coming from, but lately I'm wondering a lot what you're supposed to do with people who aren't afraid of jail or even death. Unless we devise some other way then there's no real way to stop them...
EDIT: Of course we need to wait for the outcome of the trial before judging whether or not she's guilty, but I'm talking about what to do in a case where someone does commit a cold blooded murder like this one. It's somehow even more twisted than a regular murder.

Actually, I heard this from my Abnormal Psychology professor. I also read it in my case study book and my text for the course. Where do you get your information?
