In class the other day we got to talking about what exactly terrorists and terror are and is. Why did bin Laden and those people attack the US? Why do so many people hate the US?
This thread is to talk in general many philosophical aspects of terrorism, terror, and terrorists.
So, go ahead, guys! Write out your thoughts and let's have a discussion about it!

P.S. What the heck is it with you guys? Usually everyone here is pretty good about responding to debate topics!
People hate us because we are arrogant fucks (excuse my language). The US has adopted the policy of being better than everyone else and essentially being at war with the entire world to make sure no one rivals us. The war in Iraq was a great example. We ignored our good allies completly. We barely even asked them for help. In closing, i'm sooo moving to Canuckland.
Alright being complete serious and information provided by the net such as comcast, I will be glad to answer you question "Why did bin Laden and those people attack the US?"
Getting this info from Comcast Osama said "I decided to attack the buildings of america after the way our people were being treated, and as well as our security." He also said he got the idea from bahroot (bay-root.) when there was an invasion durring 1982. "To avoid another 9-11 you must stop threatening our security." as well as saying, "Your security is in your own hands."
So there you have it the reasoning the buildings of manhattan were attacked. Still I feel the worst is yet to come only if we don't do what he has stated.
I hope that has answered that part of you questioning neoizcool.
There is an extreme terrorist group much closer to home that we must fear much more than any extremist religious sect as US citizens. A terrorist group that (pardon the cliché) is ripping at the thin fibers that hold together American society. Who is this that destroys us from within, you ask? MTV is the enemy; yes, MTV. The terrorists should've targeted an attack on MTV's headquarters, but they're not gonna do anything that fuckin dumb. Teenieboppers through twentysomethings everywhere would be distraught, suicide rates would grow exponentially, but they'd also be out for vengeance. The same instant self-gratification taught to them in part by MTV would come back to bite the terrorists in their asses tenfold. Enlistment in the armed forces would see huge increases, American media would back all of this just like it's supposed to, and Armageddon would follow. Once again, I say fear not remote terrorist sects in distant lands, wake up to what's really going on within our own homes on a daily basis. We're only terrorizing ourselves by believing and augmenting the hype. Down with MTV and RIAA.
Someone in my class said that the main reasons for attacking the US would be our rampant immorality, which MTV helps to augment.

I agree. MTV really does nothing to help the solution to any problem. And even if I didn't have anything to say about the moral side of it, their programming SUCKS.
The way I understand it, the radical Islam groups the exist throughout the world do not like any sort of western civilization because they don't like the way we live, the freedoms we have. We allow our women to walk around wearing less than a full black dress + veil. They don't agree with this, they see it as wrong, so therefore, we're evil to them. There are other thigns too, I just used that as an example. And the more radical ones see that the way to eradicate this evil is to destroy it rather than coincide with it. At least thats what I understand it.
I know some people hate US becoz US initiated the war against Iraq, and all those chaos and stuff... they want peace.
However, I treat everyone, every race equal, unless he/she is my enemy heh heh.
Yes, but what about before the war in Iraq?
