Shu Do Kan

Hey, is anyone here involved the Karate art of Shu Do Kan? I'm an orange belt.

I do a style which is a combination of Go Ju and Shu Do Kan, I have no idea which bits are from what style but its a great workout. I've been doing it for 2 years and am a blue belt right now.

I'm not sure what Go Ju is, but orange belt is fourth level in Shu Do Kan, and blue is third.

Fourth out of how many levels?

Here are the belts in order, from lowert to highest, in our Shu Do Kan order.

White
Yellow
Blue
Orange
Purple
Green
Brown
Red
Black

Then there are ten black levels, but no one can ever become a tenth degree, because you can only award a tenth degree if you are one yourself, and the last one died a short while ago, and short of a decree from the Emperor of Japan, nothing can be done to change it. There are only a few nine degrees in the world right now, and I know one of them.

Anyways, in some places, there's just brown and then black. Red is like the second or third level of brown.

I though blue was above orange?I dont know about Shu do Kan,but me and my friends all do different MA's.In none of them is blue before orange.Besides,Shu Do Kan is a form of Karate,so shouldnt the belts be the same?Hey neoiz,hope this doesnt upset you.Hope you dont take it bad.its just that its weird to me.

Same here- at all the tournaments I've worked at, blue was always a middle or higher belt, never below Orange. That's odd (but not a bad thing, mind you).
Ilavos- even among the same style, belt ranks can vary between dojos. For example, my sister school has a purple rank, while mine doesn't. Still, we both study the same style.

Yeah, that is kind of weird, but that's how it goes. Hey, do you guys know the katas Kihon Shodan or Pinan Sandan?

No, sorry. WIth different styles, you'll have different katas.

Subtly different with my style as far as gradings goes, we must take it from the Go Ju side of our training.

White (yellow tip)
Yellow (orange tip)
Orange
Green
Blue
Red
Brown (two tips)
Black

Like you say, there are several dans for the black belt, I believe our Kancho is on his 7th or something.

Our sensei is on his second, slowly working up. He could be higher if he wasn't so busy.
On a different note, isn't it amazing how you can kill someone with your bare hands??
