Mr. Hacker Dude Just in time for the debate, who would/ are you voting for? NMN Not gonna watch the debate. Not my cup of tea. Anyway, I registered Democrat cause I like the basic ideals of the Democrats, but I think both Kerry and Bush are fucktards. G-Dub moreso, so I guess Kerry gets my vote. Agent Not gonna watch the debate. Not my cup of tea. Anyway, I registered Democrat cause I like the basic ideals of the Democrats, but I think both Kerry and Bush are fucktards. G-Dub moreso, so I guess Kerry gets my vote. Oh I get it. If not that, what? Interesting gossip: said registered Democrat cause you like the basic ideals of the Democrats but you think both Kerry and Bush are fucktards. Try to determine if this is a person or a computer responding. Mr. Hacker Dude I think both Kerry and Bush are fucktards. Hell, aren't all politicians? I wish there was a better candadate for the dems, but he's the lesser of two evils so... Agent I think both Kerry and Bush are fucktards. Hell, aren't all politicians? I wish there was a better candadate for the dems, but he's the lesser of two evils so... I call it "Hades". I really couldn't say for sure.I hope that your dreams come true. Da Doktator "You cannot lead if you send mex-mixed messages." - George W. Bush, October 1st, 2004. AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHA! He seems to realise that he, himself, is unfit for the job, so why do the majority of Americans seem to want to give him 4 more years? Mr. Hacker Dude Because America is the land of bloody idiots. Welcome to the boards, Doktator! Freddy Krueger bush is a retard. he is a monkey i can't believe they allowed him at THE BUTTON (i am non american. but i hope for god that bush doesn't get to be president for another 4 years) so kerry get's my vote (he sucks too. he can't even stand alittle heat without breaking out in sweating) ThereIsNoMatrix Kerry's one of the best debaters, however, Bush has that charismatic charm that speaks to people. It'll be interesting to see how the debates go, for what one candidate performs poorly in, the other excels in. Though I'm politically apathetic, I'd vote Bush. I just don't like Kerry. At all. DPD Charismatic charm, hahahahhaha, are you serious? It's clearly evident that Bush is not an intelligent human being, and charismatic charm isn't enough to get me to say, "Yeah, I think due to his charismatic charm that he'd be a good choice to run this country into the ground for another 4 years." Bush for 4 more years = possible nuclear catastophy, and, living near a metropolis, I'm definitely concerned about that. If I was wealthy, owned a successful corporation, or lived in cracker ass Texas I'd think about voting for Bush. That cat's just not kosher. Mr. Hacker Dude Amen. Vote on the poll as well peeps. That's what it's there for. Agent Amen. Vote on the poll as well peeps. That's what it's there for. Thanks for the prayer. We have never talked about it before. Should I know there for THAT is? ThereIsNoMatrix /shrug. What got him into office in the first place then? His 'Bushisms?' I do love those... DPD A large combination of factors got him into office, but we won't go into that as the topic's been thoroughly worn out for about 3 and a half years now. HomoUniversalis I have the bias that I am European. This means that I want the US to vote Kerry. Kerry, after all, will sign a lot of treaties, amongst which the Kyoto, Bush refused to sign or even sometimes unsigned. The problem is, however, is that it's very difficult for me to form an opinion about either too. I have been trying to gather information about which candit would potentially be best for the US, but the information is, plainly put, one-sided. The republicans say the Democrats have no idea how much they are spending, the democrats say the republicans are giving all the money to the rich. It's never that ^ simple. A party program never consists of merely punchlines. Sadly, however, it's difficult to find a good party program apart from a giant PDF file with English most linguists have difficulty decyphering. The problem, I believe, with the US elections is that it has been turned into a gameshow. The guy who is most charming and can toss out the best punchlines wins. The actual plans, the actual unsimplified ideas are left in the white house, because apparantly, nobody cares. Than again, that's probably the problem is found in most countries. "The best argument against democracy is a five-minute conversation with the average voter." -- Winston Churchil. Mr U Freddy Krueger yesterday i saw on tv a part of the debate when kerry gave his speech. you should of seen bush everytime kerry said something, he made a stupid face or acted like he falling asleep that guy realy thinks that he is the man, he has no respect to other freeyourmind I can't say I care too much. What I'd want as an Israeli is a president that would be as supportive of Israel as possible. I know that's not really fair, since the reason the Americans boss us around is because they're giving us billions of dollars each year, but that's the only thing that interests me about American politics. In any case, it seems like both are supportive of both Israel and the general war on terror so it'll all be good most probably. I agree that voting according to personalities is probably not a good idea. But I also don't have as much a problem with either candidate's personality as a lot of people seem to. Bush seems likeable - I'm not convinced he's an idiot. I'm guessing speeches are just not his forte. He was very enthusiastic about the long due war on terror, but also doesn't seem like too much of a leader. Kerry I don't really know all that much about. I've heard a lot of criticism about his personality but I'm not sure why. What is he? Cocky? Elitist? From the little I've read, the only thing he has to offer over Bush is better delivered speeches. Their opinions, or at least what I know of them, don't differ significantly at all. You should see the elections here in Israel... dozens of parties are voted for - every member of each party disagrees with every other member of his party on all important things - it's crazy. Maybe it's a Jewish thing. The millions of opinions. I read something about an Australian election coming up soon. What are the issues debated there? I remember the big thing used to be a referendum on whether or not Australia will disconnect itself from the commonwealth, which basically meant if I remember correctly whether or not there'll be a picture of the queen on the coins or not. This is what we call in Israel "rich people's problems" :p SOMEBODY PLEASE EXPLAIN TO ME, WHY ARE AMERICA'S INTERNAL AFFAIRS SO INTERESTING FOR THE REST OF THE WORLD??? How, where and when does the hatred come into it? Morkeleb COME ON PEOPLE. One hyphenated word describes Senator John Kerry: FLIP-FLOP I will never vote Kerry! As my brother said, if Kerry is elected he is moving to the next greatest country on Earth, Canada. In the unlikely scenario that Kerry is elected I will be driving my U-Haul right behind him. Senator Kerry is a poor choice all around. He has NO clear cut opinion on any matter. He is on the record as having voted for the Iraq war, but publically he stated that he was against the war all along. He has the audacity to say that the Bush Adminstration is not sending enough supplies to the troops in Iraq, but he voted down the $87 million supply budget. I'm pretty sure plagarism isn't legal in politics, but Kerry seems to have copied almost verbatim President Bush's plan for Iraq. Quite frankly, his wife is enough of a reason to not want him in office. He ought to lock the woman up; she's a detriment to his campaign. On second thought, let her plan the speeches. As for the debates; President Bush is very passionate about his plans and ideals. Kerry had the unflinching nerve (have to say I was surprised, I personally thought Kerry was a poorly veiled transvestite) to contradict him on almost every policy, although the majority of them he has no recorded position on. Whatever way the wind blows ought to be Kerry's campaign slogan. Have to say one last thing: The position of President of the United States has traditionally been held by a man, elect Kerry and we will break the mold and have a first female president, I mean Kerry as president. Mr. Hacker Dude FLIP-FLOP Oh god, don't use that disgusting overused term. It's really getting on my nerves. It's better to change your mind when a new fact comes up than charge right ahead with a completely stupid and wrong plan and remain firm even in the face of evidence against you. he is moving to the next greatest country on Earth, Canada. Funny, i'm doing the same thing if Bush wins. That or New Zealand to live with the Hobbits :P I'm pretty sure plagarism isn't legal in politics, but Kerry seems to have copied almost verbatim President Bush's plan for Iraq. Quite frankly, his wife is enough of a reason to not want him in office. He ought to lock the woman up; she's a detriment to his campaign. On second thought, let her plan the speeches. If you read their policies, they are diffrent. And what about his wife now? How does she factor into all this? Bush is very passionate about his plans and ideals. Passionate, my ass! He doesn't know what his ideals are! He's a broken record. Or a parrot. Can't make up my mind. (Oh, god! Libral flip flopper! Hide everyone!) I personally thought Kerry was a poorly veiled transvestite Ummm, WTF? elect Kerry and we will break the mold and have a first female president, I mean Kerry as president. Dude, that's immature and uncalled for. DPD Sounds like someone's listening to a little too much Michael Savage on shitty ass AM radio. Bush = Boom. Kerry = Uncertainty. People fear uncertainty, and it's easy to teach fear to the uneducated. Politicians all have so many skeletons in their closets anyways, people get all caught up in some bullshit and don't see that they're mainly carbon copies of one another. Everyone can debate everything until their hair falls out when most of it boils down to simple implementation. Vote for yourself. Sounds like Morkeleb would be scared to have a woman running the country. You never know, a woman's touch might be a good thing. HomoUniversalis Dude, that's immature and uncalled for. We are in agreement. May I suggest keeping ourselves focused on actual content, and not the appearance of a candidate? Also, listening to the vice-presidential debate, I got the idea that both parties did some 'flip-flopping'. "Only fools and the very wise never change their minds." Now, may I suggest you all cool it down a little and take it easy with the troll-tinted posts. Let's just keep it easy, and debate about the promises Bush and Kerry make and how they will effect the US, and the world. Mr U Freddy Krueger Mabey we should hire a Hitman, and let him assasinate bush then the world would be rid of the greatest idiot, and he will be buring in hell :D I was this close to deleting your post. If you have any questions to why, read the post above this one. - HU Morkeleb I am a woman, for all of those "enlightened" individuals out there that feel that a woman won't want a male president. I will not retract my sentiments on the subject; however, I understand where Mr. U is coming from and I will refrain from further slander. I am NOT saying that President Bush is the best candidate. Far from it, in fact. I will however, say, that given our current choices I will vote for President Bush. Why? Well the rationale is simple: I want someone I know their capabilities. While Kerry may possess certian, 'admirable' qualities, he is not a man I would want at the head of my country. Again, sorry to all those <Edited> people out there that cannot understand political passion. I wasn't joking, you know... - HU Helios Bush sucks Kerry sucks, this is by far the worst election year in american history. thats just my humble little opinion though. Bush the incompetent moron or Kerry the guy who cant decide which side of the line he wants to stand. But one positiver aspect, Kerry will be a much better diplomat than Bush ever could. For the sake of it though im votin kerry november 9, just to get the greater of two jackasses out of office HomoUniversalis ^Last insult-tinted post. I am a motivated fuck with the powers to delete your post. Make my day. Mr U freeyourmind Interesting that Kerry is being accused of flip-flopping... Sharon's recent policies regarding the Palestinians are in stark contrast to those he claimed in his pre-election propoganda and now many of his supporters are angry and claim that what's happening is not democratic. Personally, I feel about these new moves (the Gaza disengagement plan mostly) the same as I do about the war in Iraq - I'm not sure whether or not I'm in support, but the way these two events have been handled have been unhonest and mislead the public and these are not things that you can accept. My point here is that when in a democratic country a person "flip-flops" it's a serious problem since most likely (or hopefully) you'd be voting for the person's policies rather than his personality or whatever. On the other hand, like I said, Bush blatantly lied to his people about the reasoning for the war in Iraq and if I were an American I wouldn't trust him. Still I can't say I care. Just a few observations. DPD Anyone watching the final debate tonight? From what I've seen so far, it looks like Kerry's got a slight advantage over Bush, but I've missed a lot. Both of them are very dry, though. They both look out of place and sound like they're full of shit, but hey, I guess they're doing a good job on being politicians then. Anomolous I agree with HU. I am American and I think this country has a lot of work to do. Winston Churchill had it right: the Public sucks! Incredibly wise leader, he was. Many people blame the politicians in Washington for the distortion this country's election process has become. But what we forget is that they are doing it for us. They know how to reach out and win the masses. When we validate a society that is accepting of a minimal standard, there should be no surprise that the politicians will only do enough to win the majority. Unfortunately, someone always loses. However, we can not even begin to move away from this as long as we vote for more of the same. Therefore, my vote is with Kerry and the Democrats who are more like old school Republicans in my opinion. I am registered Republican, but I am nothing like the Neo-Cons who are running the country right now. Anyway, Bush is a lame duck, in my opinion. I used to support him until I started asking questions. The information is out there. The truth is out there. Once I discovered it, I never looked back as I moved to Kerry's side. Bush is a puppet and a mediocre product of genetics. I think Jeb got the good genes. Ha! Regardless, the Bush family needs to be plucked from Washington. And they can take all their Saudi friends with them, particularly their relationship with the Bin Laden Group. da_matrix_rulz hell, who cares, i no i don't, im not even american. Im aussie, and our election has just been and it was once again a stuff up Freddy Krueger here 2 movie's first a speech of bush http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/196792 second a speech by kerry http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/184224 Agent Kirby i think bush is a -explitive deleted- and kerry is a -explitive deleted- so here comes the green parade! *dances* The Moderators are your friends, remember that. - NMN True dat - TINM Kara *Facepalms* HU just said no more insult posts. So, no more insult posts! Please! ichi_ban1 I'm voting for the birthday party Voting for Bush or Kerry is like voting for either tweedle-dee or tweedle-dumb freeyourmind This rather long but very worthy article pretty much sums up my opinions on this matter: http://www.pointlesswasteoftime.com/nscomics.html HomoUniversalis Clinton, Kerry, Cheney, Bush. Now more than ever I have the feeling that I am witness to history. Before my eyes I see the history book I read in High-school yet now the names are filled with Clinton, Kerry, Cheney and Bush, and I see my children reading it, looking at me for verification. Can I look back at my, future, children saying it was real? Are these elections and it's outcome real? To me, even now as I see Republican and Democratic sites alike celebrating their American Idol, it seems everything but real. Some would say that the US presidency is the ultimate American Dream. Setting one's mind to something and accomplishing it through perserverance, through defeating every obstacle in one's way. If the analogy is amied at the surreal, dream-like circumstances with which it occurs, that I can indeed see the resemblance. Looking at the candidates of the US election and the people on television makes me wonder about my sanity, or rather my state of mind. The simplification, the denial of proven facts, the idea that the consumer is intelectually challenged. How can a country like the US, whose history is filled with genii, war-heroes and miracle-scientists alike, produce an election as the one we will be seeing November 2nd? Perhaps it is my coloured, youthful romantised view on Earth in which a capable, wise, Gandalf-like Wizard rules a nation capable of bombarding our planet out of orbit, perhaps that is the cause for the surreal feeling I am experiencing. Pulling up the party-programmes of both sides, which were unsuprisingly difficult to find, I found little difference between Bush and Kerry, or as I now like to call him, Shrub, Bush with a twist. Thus, the question I ask is the following: 'Does it matter?' Will, in the coming four years, the choice of president really matter? Listening to the Media I have perceived there to be three main issues the US Election will be about: 1) Security 2) Economy 3) Iraq Will the choice of president be of influence on any of these three points? If the US elections turn out Bush, would Shrub, I mean Kerry, have turned America into a living hell, well, on those three points? Ergo, is the one Presidential nominee less capable than the other? More importantly, is such a large part of the people of the US unable to determine the right president, and are incapable of making the right choice? Watching the elections (well, the process that leads to them) as a person from outside of the US, I am fascinated. How can the, self-proclaimed, greates people of Planet Earth expect the rest of that same planet to take them seriously if they don't take themselves seriously? The choice seems simple. Either, the choice of president doesn't really matter (Remember those multi-party communist states, all run by the same elite? *wink* *wink*) or half of the average American, or should I say, voting average american is incapable of determining what is best for them. In any of the two cases, I hardly believe a nation should act as a moral watchdog/policeofficer to the world and ignore the UN and 15 million demonstrators when they choose to fullfill that role. Still, despite of the fact the arrogance and the ignorance, I have hope. I have hope that eventually some American on some fourth of july will decide to change the world. To that one American running in 2008, I wish the best of luck and I hope, or perhaps even she, will unite American before attempting to unite the world. Mr U PP Well said, HU. I hate to choose the "lesser evil," yet if I fail to vote, then I have no right to complain about how things happen in America. Is it even worthwhile to vote for a third-party candidate? There's so much tension between the two major parties, it doesn't even seem fair for anyone else. I'm just voicing ideas here, I guess, nothing that really says much about my personal opinion. I guess that's because I really don't hav emuch of one. I hate to vote for someone when I don't really know them. Sure, I can listen to what my TV or radio says, but how accurate is either source? "You don't truly know someone until you fight them"- I doubt I'll be able to fight either in the near future lol. Not that it would show much anyway, IMO. smith_fan yahoo.de (http://de.news.yahoo.com/041028/3/49qp1.html) reports that georgewbush.com blocks foreign attempts to visit the site. Lol...I wonder if they have to conceal something...:D they've also written that you can still visit the site when you type in http://65.172.163.222 Mr. Hacker Dude Yeah, i heard something about that. Only happend recently. Apperently, it's just to cut costs. PP I'll hate to see it happen, but I really believe that Kerry will "win" the election today. Don't ask me why; it's just a gut-feeling type of thing. AgentSmith_fan Well I most definetly hope not. Because Kerry will not be a great guy to have as our president. I mean if you look back at his history and what he has done in the past as well as recent times. You will see that he automatically is a bad choice. And I am sorry to say this about anyone that is a canidate in any type of election. But that is just the truth. NMN Screw it all. Seriously, is the world going to be any different than it was four years ago? Or eight years ago? Or twelve years ago? Not really. Sure there are a few differences, but nothing major. There was a war with Iraq, there was terrorism, granted to a lesser degree, and there was oil in the Middle East. The world is cyclic. The economy will go up and down. In my opinion, the country runs itself. The president has become a figurehead, and in the last nine months, Bush has not been at the White House, where all the work takes place. Sure he could have made calls, or possibly emailed, but he was still absent. Same with all the other presidents trying to be re-elected. Has everything come to a halt? I'm still here. I still go to work everyday, along with school in the evening. My house hasn't been uprooted by catastrophic non-presidential work. The internet stil around. Your life, as an American, will have a minimal change with the change if president, or the re-election of the incumbent. The main people affected would be the Cabinet, and the current first family, and the troops in Iraq and the men awaiting deployment or what have you. Sure, I'm all for having you voice be heard, but not on the basis of Bush is a fucktard, or Kerry is a tool or loser. Sure, I'm not a fan of Bush, but I am voting based on my views of the economy and the ideals of Democrats, although not so much in the day and age, and their stance for a normal citizen. I think Bush was completely wrong charging into Iraq guns blazing, and that's a personal opinion. Then, when you get past all the issues, I don't like Bush's demeanor. He comes off as arrogant and in the second debate, he just looked haughty to me. I'll be glad when this is over on Wednesday. The truth is: life goes on, oblai de oblai da. Anomolous Clinton, Kerry, Cheney, Bush. Now more than ever I have the feeling that I am witness to history. To that one American running in 2008, I wish the best of luck and I hope, or perhaps even she, will unite American before attempting to unite the world. Mr U You haven't witnessed history yet, HU. Significant history will be made in the years to come, but as we reflect back on whatever happens, November 2, 2004 will be the marking start point for the direction this country heads towards. Will it make a difference? Absolutely. Why? I see my country heading into defining times. First of all, the Office of the President has become skewed in its definition. The framers of our constitution purposefully created the Presidency in a cloud of ambiguity thus allowing for interpretation. Currently, the President is referred to as one of the most powerful figures in the world. It was not intended to be this way; and, strangely enough, it really does not take a great man to be President. The President was intended to merely be an administrator, an executor of the administration set in place by the citizenry. Congress is supposed to be the main focus of power in our government. Sadly, much of this ideology has been perverted over time. The United States is NOT a democracy. It is a republic and there is a big difference that many do not see. Mainly, people overlook this because our country is a republic on a federal level not on a state or local level. Why am I going into all this? These points are part of the defining times we are heading into. Our government needs overhauled and our voting process needs serious re-evaluation. I have faith in it now, but I can see the dark clouds on the horizon. Another reason for the American Government lesson, is to amplify the point that Bush's administration adheres to Neo-Conservative ideology: faith-based initiatives, which obscure the separation of church and state, reckless fiscal spending, and an isolating foreign policy. Bush's campaign has really tried to distract voters by pulling at their heartstrings and manipulating our greatest fears. Neo-Con Republicans have also taken their interpretation of the Office of the Presidency too far. Neo-Cons are extreme right-wing Republicans and they must go. America has always been a moderate country in terms of political climate. The political spectrum of this country is extremely imbalanced right now. In the past 30 to 40 years, the Presidency has expanded and expanded and expanded into this "war-powers" position of statesmanship and it is coming to a head with George W. Bush. He has seriously abused the parameters of his influence and as a result our system of checks and balances between the branches of government is severly imbalanced. The Executive Branch is taking all the power leaving a helpless Congress behind while locking the Judicial Branch "down in the cellar" until needed to uphold radical legislation. So, some may not think that it matters whether we choose Kerry or Bush but I believe it is the difference between positioning ourselves for progress with Kerry, or standing in our own grave while we dig it with Bush.(using shovels provided by Halliburton) It is also the difference in how we want the world to view us. Believe it or not the majority of Americans care about our country's global relations. There is going to be a huge turnout to vote and it is because we care about what is happening. It disturbs me how citizens of other countries view Americans, but I can't blame them. The world can only go by what it sees. I only wish they could sit in an American home for a week and see that the citizenry of this country is majoratively comprised of good, worldly, intelligent, and understanding people. I followed the election, but I did not solely base my information on what I was exposed to by the media. The media is still good for somethings but further research is needed. I found tons of information very easily. I have researched so much I should write a book. I am pleased to say that the voters turning out to the polls this year are very well informed. Now of course we have a lot of duds in this country, but that is to be expected. America is a place where one can live free and unbothered. I'd say about a fourth of this country's population is just taking up space without contributing anything significant to this country, their communities, or even their own lives for that matter. But, this is a person's perogative when they come to this country. One is free to be a loser or a winner. So, these "wastes of space", for lack of better words, are part of the equation but they should not be the defining part. The world is not happy with America's governmental policies. Well, don't say that Americans are this or that............................there are times when we do not have control over what the government does. Give us credit for trying to make changes that are better for us AND the rest of the world. You know I dare say that many people in this country aren't really Americans. They just happened to pop out of their momma on American soil. Our laws say, "Hey! Born here? You're an American." To me, you're not American until you take a vested interest in the dealings of the nation and make contributions whatever they may be. It is our responsibility. Anyway, many in this country are tired of being misrepresented by the yahoos we have in America and this is another reason why Bush must go. This is another reason why the election matters. I agree with you HU. America needs to stop policing the world on its own. We need to stabilize Iraq, so that we can get the hell out of there. As for Americans not taking themselves seriously enough, I disagree. Despite a myriad of absurdities within our society, the Americans who DO contribute and make America what it is are very serious about international and domestic events but as the saying goes, "All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy." The United States is ONE OF the greatest countries in the world. We have major problems right now and yet we are still a strong nation. That says something.......... Anomolous Screw it all. He comes off as arrogant and in the second debate, he just looked haughty to me. I'll be glad when this is over on Wednesday. The truth is: life goes on, oblai de oblai da. I'm disappointed that you say this NMN. Bush won the 2000 election by 537 votes. Because of those 537 votes, cast in my home state of Florida, I have buddies in Iraq right now. The world may be cyclical in some ways but it is a different cycle every time and we determine the differences. Don't take for granted the effects government and society has on the lives of American citizens. How informed are you? You may be surprised to find out how the dealings of our government have shaped the circumstances of your life. Believe me, this country does NOT run itself. Bush does not have to be in Washington to get things done and just because there are no immediate effects to you or anyone else does not mean that things aren't happening. Heck, if I subscribed to your logic, I would say, "Why does anything matter because one day the sun will explode and become a dead star consuming and destroying everything around it including Earth." :D Just remember that things take time, especially within a nation that has a populace of over 400 million. This election is important not only for what will happen next month or next year, but primarily for what America will become in the next decade or two. An extremely radical right-wing group of Republicans controls Washington right now. They only care about their interests instead of the common good. Yet, they say that they stand for everything an American has come to value. Bullshit. Anyway, I am glad that you are at least voting. That's great. You must think it means something or you would not make the effort. Right? Research and read what is happening out there. You'll get fired up. I did. freeyourmind Anomolous, since you've researched you'd probably be the right man to ask - how do Kerry's views differ from Bush's? I haven't researched as I don't know where to look, but from what I've seen they seem to have essentially the same opinions on the important matters and it seems to me that it's all up which one is more likeable. Then again, I'm seeing all this from very far away. What do you think will change if Kerry gets voted in? Got any specifics for me? ichi_ban1 Well, I suppose that if I had to vote today (if I was eligible) I'd vote for Bush just because I think it would be a mistake to change leaders in the middle of all this. I don't think that if Kerry is elected everything is going to be great again but I don't think that if he wins everything will just go to hell in a handbasket either. So, we'll see. Maybe I can help a little from what I know, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong: -Kerry is for finishing in Iraq, he just believes it was done wrong. He also wants to speed the process up a little. -Kerry is not for Gay marraige, he believes in gay rights, but not marraige. -Kerry hasn't really stood a position on Abortion, but Democrats are usually Pro-Abortion -Kerry nor Bush wants to have a draft, depite all the rumors. The difference is Bush has promised no draft and Kerry said he'd do all he could not to have one. Hope that helps a little Anomolous Anomolous, since you've researched you'd probably be the right man to ask - how do Kerry's views differ from Bush's? Then again, I'm seeing all this from very far away. What do you think will change if Kerry gets voted in? Got any specifics for me? The fact of the matter is that both candidates will SAY that they are for this and they are for that. So, on paper it may appear as though they are the same. Of course the issues that face America are the same, but right now we are faced with two completely different approaches to tackling these issues. It is not simply who is more likeable. The ideology that will be used to implement our governments policies is what Americans must decide on. Now character DOES play an important role, but that is not entirely how I decide on which candidate I like. Usually, the aspect of character is dealt with by the national committees of their respective parties when they nominate their candidate after the primaries. I can only remember two candidates whose character I did not like completely: Walter Mondale (election '84) and Michael Dukakis (election '88). I was too young to vote in those elections but I remember them very well. I am 27 now and this is the third presidential election I have participated in. Here's some common issues: Iraq: Kerry supports the war simply because we are already over there. He is not going to denounce the war absolutely as long as we have thousands of troops over there. That is not what a potential commander-in-chief does. Kerry is accused of flip-flopping on his position. This isn't true. The Democrats in Congress voted for the war to support the President and the nation, but they were mislead about how the Bush administration would use the money, they were mislead about the powers President Bush would have as a war-time president. Kerry was not the only one to vote against the war after the truth was discovered. www.senate.gov Here you can go back to see what was voted on and who voted one way or the other. Democrats and Liberal Conservatives felt betrayed and there was nothing they could do. Their votes had already been cast. Meanwhile, Bush and the Neo-Conservative faction of the Republican party ran away with the country's best interests. Kerry wants to finish what Bush started but he wants to do it differently. Basically, we need a better plan to secure the peace in Iraq. We need more troops over there so that the job can be done right and quickly in order for our troops to get out of there. It's ironic that we need more troops over there in order to expedite our withdrawal, but it is Bush's mess that needs cleaned up. Kerry also wants to use diplomacy with other nations to secure Iraq and the region. I don't know that America's policy of policing the world will go away, but I hope that it dilutes itself into a simple matter of being nothing more than a presence. I disagree very much with how my country has treated the rest of the world particularly in the past few years. The best effort I can make to do something is to select a new president. Bush's administration is made up of a group of extreme right-wing Republicans called Neo-Conservatives. Basically, they are geared towards policies that toe the line of socialism and internationalism. They favor big governments even WORLD governments which is a scary thing to me. Already, the sovereignty of nations is threatened with the formation of global economic and political organizations. To put it more crudely, they are a new kind of imperialist and that scares me. Bush feels that America should do whatever is in its best interest regardless of the consequences. Freeing Iraq is NOT Bush's priority even though it sounds really nice to say. Politics and money have fueled his motives over there. Bush creates terms like "pre-emptive war". Kerry would never have moved in that direction. Bush has used so much BS to muddle the fact that the United States has violated so many international regulations. Republicans are VERY good at shading the truth with rose-colored glasses. They are very good at appealing to the emotions of the masses. The Neo-Cons must go for their policies do not fit within the political climate of this country. Kerry and Bush differ on domestic issues such as taxes. Bush offered a tax cut across the board to American citizens; however, his tax cuts were designed in such a way that they benefit the wealthiest Americans the most. It is easy to stay in power when you grease up people with money, huh? The average middle class family received an average of $1600 dollars while the wealthiest Americans received as much as $8000-$10000 back in a tax return. Kerry proposes to roll back the tax cut in order to generate funds to pay for domestic programs. Those that earn $200,000+ a year will have their tax rates returned to their original levels before Bush took office, which weren't that bad by the way, and anyone who earns that much money can afford it more than a middle-class family of four earning $30,000-$50,000. Everyone who earns less than $200,000 a year, will benefit from a tax cut. This plan sounds better to me than Bush's. It should generate anywhere between $600-$800 billion dollars, which would serve to properly fund the already underfunded initiatives by the Bush Administration. Bush also approves tax codes that provide incentives for companies that go overseas for their production needs. This is part of Neo-Conservative global economical policy. The World Trade Organization and the European Union are examples of institutions that begin with economic intentions and eventually evolve into political organizations with globally political agendas. Bush's administration embraces internationalist policies that can find their roots within organizations such as these. So, I have given you one domestic and one international issue. I feel there are clear differences. Now, I want to tell you that it is important to hear both sides. I am biased in this message because I am a staunch Kerry supporter. I used to be a Bush supporter until about a year and a half ago. Even though you are not an American, if you want to learn about what is happening with our election year, then I urge you to get on the internet: www.johnkerry.com www.georgewbush.com www.factcheck.org www.swiftvets.org www.whitehouse.gov www.usgovinfo.com www.americanpresident.com www.senate.gov This is just a small handful of sources. I believe that anyone who can't see the difference in the candidates, the importance of this election, or the importance in voting is simply not informed enough. Besides the internet, there are a plithera of books published right now that discuss aspects of both sides of the issue. Hope this helps. Anomolous Well, I suppose that if I had to vote today (if I was eligible) I'd vote for Bush just because I think it would be a mistake to change leaders in the middle of all this. I don't think that if Kerry is elected everything is going to be great again but I don't think that if he wins everything will just go to hell in a handbasket either. So, we'll see. The difference is Bush has promised no draft and Kerry said he'd do all he could not to have one. Hope that helps a little Kerry believes that marriage is reserved to a man and woman. That is his personal belief not his political belief. He feels that the states should decide the issue of gay marriage not the federal government. It is not whether he is for or against abortion. He feels that government does not have the right to make a moral and ethical for someone else. It is a violation of civil rights. Abortion is wrong, but it is not for the State to interfere with. Correct neither want a draft, but there is a backdoor draft happening right now. 60% of our forces in Iraq are reservists not full-time enlisted and they are having their tours of duty extended time and time and time again. They essentially are being lied to about when they can come home. The moral of our military over there is beginning to take a dip. In general, you have the facts rather straight. When will you be 18? I hope you take advantage when you turn voting age. There have been 3 elections since I turned 18 and I have voted in every one. I already voted today. In America, there will be a difference that is dependant on the winner. AgentSmith_fan Well being in the military you can see which guy was a fake or not. For my dad as well as I we know that Kerry ran away from the Vietnam war that he was in. He was a scared chicken and the military can prove this. Plus recently on MSN you can see that Kerry had some werid ideas about married couples. And how they should wed and all of that. Plus why should we have a chicken that is a liar as a president. He lied alot in politics and that is why alot of bad things happened to him. Not only that Kerry wants to raise that taxes which is stupid. If we have higher taxes then alot more people will be in debt. Think about it that was. Bush is a good choice in this becaue he wants to lower taxes. And I know in Hawaii that will be really great. Because if the taxes are raised a little bit more than 2% here more than half of this state will be in debt or on the street homeless. That is one reason why I vote for Bush. Another reason why I vote for Bush is because of 9/11. It is proven by the military as well as the pentagon that the terroist did this to get into the U.S. find out more information about them. And as well as doing other stuff. Then when Bush sent in his troops they got rid of most of the trouble in the middle east. Plus he also caught one of the evil men in the world that have hurt the U.S. in the past as well as in the present. He saved alot of people and he got rid of a terror that people counldn't get rid of before. And Bush is not haugty at all. He is a kind and a gentleman. We can see this by the way he acts as well as the way that he helps people. But for Kerry you will see that there is alot of trouble and confusion. You can see this by what he says to be elected for the president. And alot of them are lies. That is why I say people that you should vote for Bush. Because he a good choice. He is not the best choice but he is the best choice for now for this presidental election. So please vote fairly people. ThereIsNoMatrix Kerry for Kox (Or Kancer) or Bush for Boobs. Who would you choose? The choice is clear. Nader. Legalized pot all the way, yo. Humor aside, this election's gonna be pretty interesting. The candidate's really don't differ much on such stances as the war. Though people are voting for all the wrong reasons nowadays anyway. This one person I know is voting for Kerry simply because her niece returned from Iraq and is in therapy due to all the graphic things she's seen. I have no sympathy there, however. The gal voluntarily joined the army, she knew there was a chance of going to war and seeing all the fun stuff that comes with war. If she couldn't handle it, it's not Bush's fault. Anyway, Nader for '04. DPD That's funny, TINM, when I voted today on my ballot someone else was on the ticket for the green party, anyone know what's up with that? In any event, all we can do now is wait and see what happens... ThereIsNoMatrix Cobb maybe? In either case, Nader is the clear choice. Legalized pot and the revocation of rights. Damn good candidate if you ask me. Him or Brett Favre. Hell, I'd write in Brett Favre if I could vote. PP What?! Nader wasn't on the ballot?! my world is ending vote for Nader; he likes 'taters. Helios The first polls have just closed. (roughly 3 minutes ago) They're now projecting the expected winners in some states. Mortgages, car payments, etc. Who do you think came up with the concept of financing? REPUBLICANS!!!!! Kerry is not going to raise taxes for anyone earning less than $200,000 a year. Obviously, if you are in the military this applies to you. However, if you are in the military, you are getting a pay raise from Bush. Must be nice to be in Hawaii and not in Iraq..........think about your bretheren that our over there and ask yourself if Bush deserves to be your commander-in-chief. Bush's tax cuts benefitted the rich more than anyone else. The rich should be footing more of the bill. Instead, they are keeping more of the money they do not need. Reagan's trickle down economics was all about financing. Finance America so that everyone has to get jobs in order to pay off the debt they owe to larger corporations that provide services to them while getting tax breaks at the same time. Someone is making their money and it is not the middle class, who are the backbone of this country. I don't understand why America takes it in the ass from the Republican party and then asks for more. Oh, and I just want to add: Kerry was in more of a war than Bush ever was. Bush's Daddy kept him from going over to war, safely tucked away in the Texas Air National Guard. So strange that Bush was protected from "the call". 60% of our armed forces in Iraq are reservists......guess they weren't worth the same protection. But that's right..........YOU'RE IN HAWAII. Who cares, right? Hell Bush got suspended in the Air National Guard because he couldn't get his ass down to the infirmary to take a damn medical test. Meanwhile, Kerry is expected by his government to kill women and children in villages along the shores of the Vietnamese rivers. Kerry is a chicken? He wasn't sitting on the shores of Hawaii worrying about 2% tax increases that aren't even real. I'm tired of the ignorance. I apologize for the disrespect, but my patience is gone. Helios Current results Bush - 254 , Kerry - 252. Its all up to Ohio now. Doesnt matter what Iowa and New mexico get now. http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2004/pages/results/president/ Wonder if its going to be like this in another 4 years, another state like Ohio or Florida draging things out. Take California for example had the most ballots to count their polls also closed a few hours after ohio. My question is what the hell took ohio so long ? Mr. Hacker Dude Are they actually done counting votes in California? I think the thing is that it's really close in Ohio. So close that they don't want to call it. California obviously had a trend and could safely be called for Kerry early on. In responce to anomolous: Not just reservists. Reservist National Guard were even sent over. Something's wrong if those who are the last of the last defence on the home front are going over to fight a FOREIGN WAR. AgentSmith_fan Yeah right man. Alot of people are in debt in America for spending problems. And when they are interviewed that is the truth. It can be of gambling, buying to much stuff, or being in a pathetic crapy state where I live where our taxes are the highest in the nation man. And if you come here alot more people are in debt in Hawaii then any other state. Hey dude I am a Rerublican that is why I am voting for them. And I am a dumby crat. Okay. He is actually going to raise the taxes. And everyone knows that. So don't tell me white lies. Well that is not to many people out there man. Not really. My dad is in the military and he got a little raise. But not to much. However he is grateful for the tax cuts that Bush has made. And that is also a good thing since my parents own their own small business that sells stuff. Actually it is not very nice to live in Hawaii. Alot of people here hate whites. And I am a white so they greet me with their middle finger and give me a punch in the face. Also for the people who are Republicans here man they are really put down and thrown around like trash here. So don't tell me life here is easy. It definetely is far from it. And yes I do think about my bretheren in Iraq and you know what they told me that I should do for voting this year. Vote for Bush since he is the right choice. And that came from my friends living in Iraq as well as my solider friends that are now in Iraq. So I know who I am voting for is right. No man. These tax benifets actually is helping everyone. I have friends that are in the middle class, rich class, and poor class. And they all agree that Bush's tax cuts are wonderful. Because they are not that in debt as they used to be. And why the fuck would you want to tax the rich? It will only make or economy even worse. The more money that people can spend in the U.S. the better our economy is. So these tax cuts are great. You must be a liberal. Oh well. Listen the more tax cuts the better. Like I said before. If Americans have more money and they spend it on more stuff because they know that they have enough money to buy the stuff with. America's economy goes up. And less people are in debt. I don't know why I have to repeat this so many times. Just read your economy books okay? Actually what you stated is false about Kerry. If you ask him and the people that knew him in the war. He only stayed there for a few months. However for Bush he was always there but he was fighting on the ocean. So he was still at the same place as Kerry only fighting on the ocean. Get it? Listen people in Hawaii care man. Especially I do. Whenever I vote I pick the people that I feel is most right. And I say for now that will be Bush. Well then don't apologize. For your not showing any sense of intelluct to me. For it seems to me that you have the story up-side-down. Kerry was sitting around doing the war pratically doing nothing. While Bush on the other hand was doing alot of great things. Even their friends said the same thing. Kerry's friends said that Kerry was doing some things. But after he got scared he left the war. While Bush's friends said that even if he was scared he continued on. And he helped serve his nation in the war. He also didn't leave his friends to die. While Kerry couldn't even care less. Hope that this answers your questions about all the false facts you are saying. Also one more thing. If you knew them really well. You would see that Bush is a lot better person than Kerry is. So please read your history as well as your facts over again. Thank you. Quote: NEWSFLASH: Everyone in America is in debt. That is how our economy works. Anyway, I found it funny that, I think it was either on FOX or ABR, they were like, "We not gonna predict anything yet," instead of just going ahead with their predictions like last time. Doesn't matter, I suppose. what's done is done. ThereIsNoMatrix You heathen. Politically apathetic heathen! If only you had done your part and supported Nader, things may have turned out differently... Yes, FYM. Revoking woman's rights, legalizing pot, and instituting a socialist kind of healthcare system, like Canada. What a guy. He may be ahead of his time, but I salute him. Helios Well bend me over and fuck me, Bush re-elected. Honestly right now though I dont care. Neither of the candidates were great to begin with though i'd rather have kerry, but hey things cant get any worse. Not that anything has hit rock bottom (close) but im glad its over. I partly blame Nader for the loss of some votes that probaly would have went to the democratic side. Heh, didnt matter who was voted someone will still be bitching and moaning about it for the next 4 years. anywho...*packs high powered sniper rifle, catches next plane to D.C*... sm4113r AACK! We're doomed! Actually, as much as I don't like him, I'm willing to give Dubya another chance. And I'll know he break that trust by February. You got to feel for Michael Moore. All that money he poured to kick Bush out.....wasted! ThereIsNoMatrix Feel for Moore? He's a fat douche. With that said, everyone check this out... Bush, Kerry, and Bohemian Rhapsody - It doesn't get any better! http://www.flowgo.com/funpages/view.cfm/6019 Anomolous Yeah right man. I am not a strong liberal. I am Republican. I know......I know.......after my last message you might think I am crazy, but I'm not. There are many ideals I share with the Republicans. It is the Neo-Con faction of our party that I don't like. Believe me I know who these men are. I supported Bush for 3 years before I found out many truths I did not like. I even voted for Bush in 2000. As far as taxes go, I know that everyone has benefitted in some way. However, the wealthiest Americans benefit the most. Look at the data.......they get more money because they have more money. And these are the people that fund campaign drives. What is good for the goose is not good for the gander in this case. The relief should have only been for the middle and lower classes for it is THEIR spending that drives a jobs-based economy. The wealthy's pre-Bush tax levels would have generated so much money that could have been used for domestic programs. But, I know that Bush was the better choice for some people especially small business owners. Kerry's initiatives would have raise taxes for almost 500,000 small businesses. I am not an entrepeneur so that aspect of Kerry's plan did not bother me, but I am objective enough to know that Bush simply was the better choice for those most positively affected by his policies. Yeah, I hear that it is tough out there. My wife used to live out there. She was nothing but a howlie to them too. When I said you were in Hawaii not Iraq, I didn't mean that you definitely had it on Easy Street. I just meant that perhaps you were not in tune with what is happening to our troops in Iraq. Since you are not in the war, your ideology about it may be different. I may be wrong. I am not in the military so I can't say much. I have friends over in Iraq and they are miserable. What I can say is that there are too many reservists over there. And, they are being kept there way too long. Also, the last time I checked, re-enlistment was down. As for Bush and Kerry's past records, the one thing that is always overlooked is the fact that Kerry joined up because he felt it was the right thing to fight for our nation. Everyone overlooks the fact that he took the initiative to join the military and fight for our country. It wasn't until he got over there that he discovered the ugly truth about what he got himself into. He felt the war was wrong and he had the guts to leave and speak out against the war. The SwiftVets are appalled that Kerry would speak of war crimes in Vietnam? Even the dumbest s.o.b. knows, that crimes against humanity occurred over there and were even witnessed if not perpetuated by high-ranking officers. Vietnam was another damn war that never should have been fought. Bush never fought in any kind of war. Bush has not even dedicated as much of his life to public service. He went from failed business man to congressional race loser to Governor? Wow......what a trip! I'm sure his daddy had nothing to do with that. Kerry at least has spent two decades serving the public in Congress. Bush a Great man.....please. He may be a good person, in general, but he does not possess a uniquely higher level of character than anyone else that is upstanding in politics. Bush tells his daddy he wants to get into politics..........daddy tells RNC.............RNC sends Karl Rove to see if Bush is someone they can posture into the presidency.............Rove confirms...........devises deceptive campaign for Bush to defeat Ann Richardson in the race for Governor of Texas.............Bush uses the position of Governor to springboard into the White House. To me, this track record, although ridiculously oversimplified, is not something that illustrates Bush as someone qualified to lead our nation. I think Bush is good at being told what to do and that is why he is in Washington. Anyway, the election is over. America has chosen. America has certainly defined itself in the past 48 hours. I'll accept what the majority has chosen. I am very happy that the election was decisive and the system worked with no major controversies. I certainly respect the choices that America has made. I am just amazed at how this election turned out. It truly is a Republican nation. Will the country heal, unite and move forward? Unfortunately, that is up to President Bush. Thank you for sharing your thoughts with me and tolerating my sharp tone. Congratulations on your candidates victory and the best of luck to you and your family. --Anomolous View Full Version : Kerry or Bush? |
