Governor McGreevey has been one of the best Governor's that New Jersey has had, n I am sad to see that he is resigning.
I'm very sad for his family because he's married n has children, n I can't imagine how they feel about this. Especially having it out on the open. I guess that must be one of the reasons why he is resigning, besides having his name dragged threw the floor.

I'm not sure if he's gay, but I don't think that was the real reason for his resignation. I think it might have had something to do with blackmail and perhaps even Mafia ties.
Girl he is gay, lol.
But I know about him stepping off as Governor has nothing to do with him being gay. I guess because the affair he had was with a guy named "Golan Cipel, an Israeli poet who worked briefly for the governor as a homeland security adviser despite having no security experience."
That maybe why he is resigning. He put his lover in office who lacked experienced.

When I was at the dentist today, they had on some ultraconservative radio talk show host making this guy out to be the end of the world and shit. He's resigning, so they might as well just get their shit back together, and people can quit bitching about it, not that people in this thread are actually bitching about it, but in general. Was it a fucked up thing to do? Shit yes it was, he cheated on his wife and possibly put the state's security in jeopardy. He did do the right thing in owning up to it before the situation got any worse, so get a new ball rolling in NJ before taking his head. Media...irritating.
The media is a terrible thing. They make the bad look horrible, the worst look tragic. Anything they can get there hands on, they'll get it.
What got me was that he gave this guy a job that he did not have enough experience. He put us all in jeopardy. Think with ur head, not with whats in ur pants.....
Yeah, I keep hearing the talking heads saying things about how three months is too long to wait to kick his butt out of office. I would agree, it seems his record is shady. And it's not so often I agree with Republicans, but on this instance I do. However, I really don't care because I don't live in New Jersey (isn't that sad!). My mother was born and raised there, and I've been there to visit family members. I actually like NJ, but since I don't live there I could care less what happens. I think I might just be living in a Republican state, but the rent's cheap so I'm not complaining.
Amazing how a country that values it's freedom above all has such hatred for the media, which are one of the most powerful instruments of freedom.
That put aside, I don't find this all to interesting, viewing this in the 'gay marriage'-pov. Although you always have gay-activists shouting up when they hear the word gay, you have the same feminists making a racket when they hear a woman has been fired. Personally, I think these kinds of things are blown out of proportion when the real gay issues, problems at school because of sexuality are barely discussed. Instead we talk about something as menial as Gay Marriage. Sure, it might be a large step in acknowledging the fact that gay is legal (if that step even needs to be taken in the United States of Freedom), but to the individual it means little. Their love will still remain whether or not they can marry. What also won't change is the attitude from people towards homosexual, as I am sad to say that many people around the world are still homophobic.
Mr U
Well, the advisor thing puts a whole new spin on it. In that case the reason he felt he had to resign was not necessarily because he was gay - Not even becuase of the affair - but because of screwing up with the job. I dunno, if you ask me this is a really non-news event. Though probably the reason this is made a big deal out of is becuase of the homosexuality...
I just can't figure this one out exactly. Help me here. Golan Cipel was suing or filing a lawsuit against McGreevey for what exactly? And right after they 'settled' the matter, according to Cipel's laywer, McGreevey resignes while announcing publicly that he had a love affair. Not saying who he committed adultry with, but just announcing that he did, leaving speculation that it was Cipel. Cipel then says that the affair wasn't concentual, it was actually harrassment. So... what's going on? Did they actually have an affair, but Cipel wanted to end it after his lover put him in a good job, and then McGreevey got back at him while sabotaging his own carreer?
