joetrix what martial art do you practice and what did u think of martial arts with the matrix? NeoRunner Well I´ve done Capoeira for a few months, but I quit, t was great, and about the matrix fighting.... never saw something like that, amazing! Yakov Karate/Wrestling/Kickboxing untill I was 15, then basketball, soccer upto 17, now internet... joetrix Originally posted by BiggStankDogg Except for maybe Kjer, who has posted some pretty decent stuff on this site. He's got the skills, baby! whoah i think i know that kjer guy u speak of. my friend said that he was ok at doin moves. if can , can u psot a link to whereu saw his skills? thanks MacLeod What is this? Every part of the poll is a general "the movies' choreaography is far from great"...what's the point? I think they rock, but there isn't anywhere for me to vote that. I don't take martial arts, but I have an interest in choreagraphy, dissecting any good ones I find, and so far the matrix ones are the most entertaining. That fit the bill? Jetfire I've done Karate, Ju Jitsu, Judo, Tae-Boxing, Kick-Boxing before and now do Tae-Kwon-Do... :) smith_fan I've done Aikido.:) Jetfire I've done that before too... KJER im a freestyletricker or what ever you wanna call it ..LOL and i do a little bit of wing tjun 4 about 7 years.. http:www.streettrickz.com/ man..my site is a little bit messed up to much geocities but it is ounder construction..;) your name comes fomiliar to me joeytrix.. youre on club 540.com or bilang.com? joetrix Originally posted by MacLeod What is this? Twin01 I used to do Tae Kwon Do but quit when I got to black belt first degree.I've competed in lotsa tournaments usually got second place though.I think the martial arts in the matrix were cool.I always like watching the fighting scenes to see wat moves they do. RemiX Judo: 2nd Degree Black Belt Tae Kwon Do: 1st Degree BB A little Akido, and getting into some nice relaxing Tai Chi. All the fighting in Matrix ruled! Tobus I used to do Tae Kwon Do and I got up to a green belt. I then quit and now I am in Shoalin Kenpo. I just barely started so I'm only a yellow belt in that. As for the Kung-Fu in the Matrix, you never really realize how fast they really are (even if it is coreography[sp]). The martial arts are ausome. HomoUniversalis Personally the moves could have been a lot of better. i'm first degree BB judo and I think they really missed that, Judo. Enter the Matrix made it partially up but jui jitsu is really a lot about throwing techniques and I really missed those. And come on, it's not like they do they impossible (except for the crouching tiger and wall-walking): I have to be able to most of their moves for my next jui jitsu exam (in fact I should be training :D). Still missed the trows though. phaz0r i do Kimura Shukokai, and i thought the martial arts used within the matrix was pretty amazing!! but there were a few points i could have picked on, but all in all pretty rapid!! Freddy Krueger i haven't done any martial arts in a long wile. but 3 years ago i did kempo for 1.5 years kempo is mostly karate, jui-jitsu and kai-twan do and then combined i can still do some of the 'tricks' but i coudn't beat the matrix martial arts The arkitect I used to do Tae Kwon Do but it didnt appeal to me. I wouldn't mind doing Ju Jitsu, now thats the Martial arts i want to do but there isn't antwhere near where i live to do it. Servo Well the title says it all. Post pictures links experiance tips and more on this thread. I'll start it of with a Pic. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v439/Jacynth/IMG_1063.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v439/Jacynth/ExtremeSamurai.jpg Neix Nice Katanas :D I own one, but i rarely get it out. I just got a Naginata, and I must say, a very KOOL weapon. Neix Servo Actually only one is a Katana. the other is a straight Ninja Sword. Its a weird combination but i was practicing the 2 sword technique practiced by Mioto Musashi. Unfortunatly i only had one katana so i had to kinda try to adapt to a diffrent weapon. ( Hey. Mabey i might invent my very own martial arts!) Anyway i'd like to see a pic of this Naginata. I'm really found of those weapons! Neix Yeah, the pic was kinda hard to tell from. But thats pretty kool. What is the name of the art u practice? or are u like me and just collect stuff and mess around? lol. I have 14 swords now, as my new 3 set of samurai weapons came in a few days ago. They're relly kool and They're one of my fav. I still like my first katana, because it looks kooler. Sorry, I'm rambling. I'll try and get a good pic one of these days of my Naginata. Nice to see swords on the forum!!! Simply, Neix ichi_ban1 :) Sweet swords, both of them. The only weapon I have is a set of nunchaku, they're cool though, at least i think so Triality I've got my first Ju Jitsu grading tomorrow night! And I've hurt my goddamned toe. Stupid thing. *hits toe* Must be all that typing with mi toes I've been doing.... :p I just hope it'll fade off before tomorrow so I can get my red belt! :D ichi_ban1 Ju Jitsu huh? sweet. I do Tae Kwon Do PP Grading? Is that a test to advance on to the next belt? What's the rank order at your dojo? CliveTheBum I do Taekwondo... Did A bit of Judo (which is practically useless in some cases) and karate which ruled, but didn't have the time too keep it up. I wanna get into Jeet Kune Do... Thats a really good martial art. And not because Bruce Lee did it either... It is a good sport, I know. ichi_ban1 i did Karate for a while but settled on Tae Kwon Do because i didn't have the time to do both. i'd love to have weapons training (preferably Katana) Triality wahey i got the belt! I am now a red :D luvvly... It goes white, red, yellow, orange, green, blue, purple, brown, black in ju jitsu by the way PP! PP Thanks for the info and congrats!!! How long did your test take? (sorry- I'm all sorts of curious about other people's schools, styles, etc...) I take Taekwon-do. I wish we had a local place that taught Shotokan, but we don't. I've done a bit of Tai-Chi, but not enough to really amount to anything. A nice relaxation style, though. neoizcool I started a thread awhile ago about Shu Do Kan, but it died. So I'll write about my martial art here. Hey, I do Shu Do Kan. Anyone else? Free Your Minds. -neoizcool sicroendo8 i've done kung fu, shotokan, wrestling, jeet kun do, and karate i also made a fighting style called long chi ichi_ban1 I do Tae Kwon Do and I did Karate for a while, but I had to drop one cuz it took too much time to do both! :) DPD I got mad skills at drunken boxing. PP minus the boxing part, right? I do Tae Kwon Do and have dabbled a bit in Drunken Boxing and Shoto-kan (sorry if I misspelled it) Omega Ascendant I learnt wushu, its been so long and my skills have decrease, of coz those movies do better than me...lol UT -Thread moved to Recreation- DPD minus the boxing part, right? I do Tae Kwon Do and have dabbled a bit in Drunken Boxing and Shoto-kan (sorry if I misspelled it) fuck you, eh? there's no blood in my alcohol stream, so we can take this outside and throw down. PP bring it, bitch. DPD Oh it's already been b-ROUGHT-en!!! For the motherland!!!! PP for the clubhouse! DPD For the good of the clubhouse, perhaps we should set our petty differences aside... Omega Ascendant Hey hey, stop it right there. I declare peace, please don't fight. *suddenly DPD and PP punched and whacked OA* OA: OoOOOOOOOOOOOWwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww! DPD I won't hit a woman, don't get me on that shit. I'll shake the shit outta one though. PP Shake? or did you do a typo again... shake, shag, same thing... Now, OA, don't worry. Although I already punched the shit out of a tree outside (my knuckles can vouch for that), I won't be hitting any people today.. too pissed off to... Omega Ascendant Ok, that is good to hear some peace going on. ANyways, martial arts is fun and its cool! CliveTheBum I am known as Clive The Bum and have learnt the art of busking mixed with some crap dancing... I call it the WazzaWuzzu but others call it "cool". You see, this aint no amateurs thing here, you really got to master this. You really gotta know people and make yourself heard, even if it involves being drunk and running down the street in a bikini and thong.... ichi_ban1 I love martial arts because its a different way to exercise instead of running or lifting weights or something like that. Neo 23 I used to take kenpo when I was younger now I have the urge to take karate again but this time im gunna do kung fu, has anyone ever takin it before if so do u have any advice for me to help me out? j/w Raj Against The Machine I do Wing Chun. its really cool and straight to the point. bruce lee started off with wing chun before he invented jeet kune do. Raj Against The Machine i've done wing chun for almost a year now. i did used to do capoeria and some kick boxing. the matrix kung fu was really kl! renegade-agent if you are willing to learn,i can teach you the ways of the HUT OF FALLING POTATOES very wise and powerful masters of making french fries suicide blond if you are willing to learn,i can teach you the ways of the HUT OF FALLING POTATOES very wise and powerful masters of making french fries now this is why we should take the vets advice and spay and neuter.spam at its worst.it pained me to read it.if you have any skills whatsoever please state them or move on. clean up on isle 10 bob. iv'e dabbled a bit in the drunken boxing DPD so colorfully talked about and a bit in kick boxing but i am now more interested in getting into more indepth aspects of the martial arts.power and a mean frontkick is sometimes not enough to get the job done so i will look on this thread as an intersting tool to gets some more insite into the arts and pick out what i want to study in.thanks peeps. Raj Against The Machine wing chun is cool if u believe that power isn't everything. it depends on you being relaxed in order to do anything. it teaches you not how to win but how not to lose. suicide blond thanks for the tip raj.i definately could use some lessons in restraint.i am usually flying off the handle when i get pissed or feel threatened and just see red and go balls out.maybe if i try this i could learn how to just take it easy and let life or certain situations come to me.then i can deal with them accordingly.i appreciate the advice. ;) PP I mentioned earlier that I do Tae Kwon Do. I love it due to the excellent workout my instructor provides, but as of late, I've realized that my dojo is like so many others out there- they teach crap that's good for tournaments, but not for real life. If you want something showy that'll help you stay in shape, TKD is a good choice. Otherwise, go with something else (Shotokan, perhaps? ;) ) renegade-agent are there any people who study drunken boxing in here? if so can you please tell me what it's all about? thanks suicide blond I mentioned earlier that I do Tae Kwon Do. I love it due to the excellent workout my instructor provides, but as of late, I've realized that my dojo is like so many others out there- they teach crap that's good for tournaments, but not for real life. If you want something showy that'll help you stay in shape, TKD is a good choice. Otherwise, go with something else (Shotokan, perhaps? ;) ) Cool pp.I'll have to do some checking on Shotokan. It sounds interesting. As for the TKD,I would like it for the keeping in shape factor but i am not about show so i will look into the other you mentioned. Thanks for the tip. RA-Drunken boxing is not the best form of entertainment you can have.DPD is much more qualified to let you in on that one than i am.I have only had a couple of bouts with it myself.I got really drunk one night and my ex and i got into it and well,I am sure you can imagine what happened next.I dont play the victim role very well so i fought back with a couple right hooks and an uppercut or two.I am sure DPD's experience will be more colorful than mine so ask him hon. DPD I've never actually drunken boxed...people tend to back down when you're as boisterous as I am when I'm drunk. My last two near-fights when drunk: At a house party when some girl tried to play country. Twice. In my friend's room on his computer, after taking out my CD. I said something about it and she stepped up a few feet away from me. I stepped up to her face with clenched fists and told her I'd get on her head if she wanted to start some shit. She said, "Fine, swing, I'll fight you." Whereupon I promptly replied, "If you're man enough to swing, I'm bitch enough to fight back." Stupid whore. Anyway, she didn't want none of me, cuz I'd have headbutted her fat ass in the mouth. The next time some guy thought he'd be badass and tell someone in the group I was in to shut the fuck up because he thought she was walking alone. I damn near cracked a half-empty bottle of Hennessey over his head, but he was wise enough not to come downstairs from his dorm room. I don't really remember what was said or transpired, because I was pretty damn fucked up that night. But he looks like a pussy, and I still might have to kick his ass the next time I go up to that town. suicide blond It is amazing some of the shit we can encounter when we are drunk isn't it DPD. I am glad you didn't waist that bottle though man, Hennessey is some expensive stuff. No use in waistin good booze on assholes with power drinkin kicks. I think we all have some bad memories while being 3 sheets to the wind but i am sure we all have had some good times as well. Thanks for sharin yours with us. ;) renegade-agent you all seem to be experts on martial arts, which one is best for a begginer? and is there any other way of training and learning martial arts then going to one of those training schools or clubs?(tried that did't end well) thanks PP There is no "best" form- each style offers different things. You figure out exactly what you're looking for in martial arts, then find the style that fits your needs. Raj Against The Machine is there any other way of training and learning martial arts then going to one of those training schools or clubs?(tried that did't end well) thanks there are online courses and books but they're are useless because they don't tell you if ur doing it wrong, some schools offer private lessons but they normally cost an arm and a leg. what happen to put u off training schools and clubs???? Niobe 16 Well I have a black belt in teakwondo. I think that the martial arts in the film were great...it used lots of different variations. I think that martial arts is like an extention of that person who is studying it.....they have to choose the style that best suits them...teakwondo is fast...uses more kicks then anything and uses style to perform some of the more difficult moves. I think that all martial art is great...you just have to find the right one for you HomoUniversalis Niobe 16, how long have you been training in TKD? Just out of interest. RA, it all depends on what you want to do. There is a large variety of different kinds of arts, depening on your demands. Though I probably shouldn't say this, but martial arts movies offer a good insight in what every sport has to offer. Steven Seagal and his aikido is a lot of circle motion, without need for fysical strength. Kung Fu focuses on the learning of katas and the application of those katas in reality, combined with rigorous exercises to increase speed, strength and flexibility. Jiu Jitsu is a combination of a lot of japanese martial arts. Just get yourself straight on what you are expecting from martial arts, and than you can make a decision. In any case, you can't learn from books or from videos. Someone with a large amount of experience may be able to interpret fotos to take on a specific stance, or a specific move, but you can't learn a whole art. The real power behind martial arts lie in proper breathing, proper timing, et cetera. They are things that can only be taught by a master. Mr U FoolOnTheHill I can eat sushi real fast and wave my chop-sticks in a threatening manner lol. And I admire people who actually take the time to do some martial art ;-) I'm more busy in music... renegade-agent hey you guys, can someone please tell me what the most aggressive form of martial arts is? Niobe 16 I have studied TKD for 5 years now...keeps me in hspae and is great for mental practice. 4g3nt i studied boxing and russian-wrestling, both for 2-3 years... then i`ve trained jiu-jitsu for 5 years, now i study my pc... HomoUniversalis Most aggressive? Kendo. You'll learn how to kill people with swords. I have studied TKD for 5 years now...keeps me in hspae and is great for mental practice. Impressive. I presume you must be quite ahead of most other students than, having obtained your black belt in 5 years.. Mr U 4g3nt it exist a hawaian style, i dont know its name... but martials with this style kill people before they fall on the ground!! the other side of medal, u must learn it for 12 years, then u can start proffesional... its aggressive, too... sorry for my english, i promis u my german is better.... Niobe 16 It's all about the deadication of the person..I am completly deadicated and so was able to obtain my black belt...it should take an average person around 4 to 5 years....I have held my blace belt for nearly 2...I help with training sessions now when I am not on duty. DonDaddy Wow. That just seems a lot easier then it should be. Seriously. Thats much quicker than anything else I have heard about. HomoUniversalis Yup. Took me 8 years to get my first black belt in judo, and I got some angry glances from a couple of people who thought I got it too fast, or wasn't good enough yet. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is worse though. They give belts to family members there like it's no tomorrow. And the sad thing is, they can't do squat. The only stuff they can do is roll over on the ground and pin you down. And even than, a well-trained judoka will still whoop their asses. It's downright sad. Mr U Niobe 16 I just love it....and it does not really matter how long it takes you...that fact that you have it is all that matters HomoUniversalis A black belt degree seperates the students. It is intented to be a seperation of experience and skill, black belts being superior martial artists who can, in many cases, be trusted upon to teach others. I have been doing jiu jitsu for three years now, and if I did the BB exam, I would probably pass it. However, I do not want to do the exam. I want to wait and learn more of the beauties the art has to offer me. Walking around with an undeserved belt is never a good thing. Now, I'm not saying that you don't deserve your belt. I'm just saying that three years to a black belt is pretty darn fast and that that probably says more about your club that it says about you. Mr U DonDaddy Oh snap! HU is calling you out! Saying his martial arts are better than your martial arts. You gonna take that from him? HomoUniversalis Oh snap! HU is calling you out! Saying his martial arts are better than your martial arts. You gonna take that from him? Motherfucka.. Yeah, yeah. Point taken. Sometimes I'm too politically correct :D. Mr U Zyren13 I think it was pretty good...yea...i liked it! ZeroOne I know Shotokan karate, but would like to learn Ju Jitsu and Jeet Kune Do. Serapheon Hey Raj Against The Machine, I train Ving Tchun too. I have also trained Ju Jutsu, Karate, TaeKwonDo, Escrima and Boxing. Now I train Ving Tchun. How long have you trained Wing Chun? Edit=SB I edited your post here and deleted the other one. I merged the two martial arts threads together. There need only be one and you said the same thing in both. Thank ye. Smith's fan Well, i've done Karate for 2 years, and now im practiceing Aikidio. Im pretty good at it to. :D fateofzanzibar I practice Zenketsugo. it is really a mix of a lot of diffrent styles. I also practice karate. The martial arts in the movie were a lot better than i can do thats for sure. Novus 3 years isn't pretty darn fast. In my style (shu do kan) you can get to obtaining a black belt in a year and a half. Then you train for a year and earn the first degree black belt. Then you steadily go up in degrees until you reach the tenth (which is impossible to attain, since the only a tenth degree can bestow a tenth degree, short of a decree from the emperor of Japan.) And by first degree black belt, you can kill someone easily. PP I'm sorry, but I've got to disagree with you here. Unless you train with your sensai for hours every day, a black belt in less than three years is ridiculous. So many places just hand out black belts to appease whoever's paying the $ to recieve the lessons, it's insane. I've met people who were granted BB status in two years, and they couldn't fight for crap, couldn't even defend themselves. A lot of these McDojos will just have students learn a kata or two, then bump them up to the next belt without even making the students prove themselves. For a while, I practiced at a place that would make you test, and the tests were pretty tough, but no matter how poorly you did they still passed you on provided you pay the $80 testing fee. It's not fair to the students, because they think they're prepared when they're not. There's so much to train your body to do instinctively, you can't possibly learn it all in three years using the generalized Western martial arts places. Novus The point of being a black belt is not to learn everything. Geez, if you think you can learn everything you're down right wacko. In my style, Shu Do Kan, you can advance to black belt full fledged black belt (meaning first degree) in two and a half years, maybe three and a half. And it's not a, as you call it, McDojo. Geez, get off your high horse. They don't dish out belts to people who pay. Often they will keep a student back when they are not ready to advance. Maybe some dojos do, but not ours. In our dojo, when you get your black belt, you have earned it, and let me tell you, we have some hella good black belts at our school. So no, earning a black belt in less than three years is not ridiculous. Geez my knees. Stop talking about things which you have no clue. PP This isn't the blitz, Novus. If you wish to go after personal blows, I suggest you take it there. This is your final warning. A person would be insane to think they can learn everything, but the point of being black belt means you're ready to go out on your own, that you've learned enough to truly be a teacher yourself. I'm sorry, but from all that I've seen, achieving such a status so quickly is ridiculous. Those who I've met and sparred with who've achieved a BB status in less than three years don't really deserve it, IMO. DPD Stop talking about things which you have no clue. Obviously, PP has had martial arts experience and has also been around martial arts for quite some time, so saying she doesn't have a clue really gives your argument no leverage. Just because she doesn't agree doesn't make her less intelligent, it makes things different at the dojos she's practiced in. And from what I've seen, getting a black belt in three years would be pretty intensive training, especially where I grew up, since there are some extremely talented martial artists from the area, as well as a legendary fighting school not far away run by the Gracie's of UFC and Pride fame. Not saying it can't be done and that it wouldn't be legit, but it'd be on some Pai Mei shit. Novus I know someone who got his black belt in less than three years, and he is the best black belt I know. And the point of a black belt is not necessarily to be able to be a teacher yourself. THAT varies from style to style. If you are a black belt, you should be able to defend yourself, yes, but not necessarily teach it yourself. Everyone here who has spoke against receiving a black belt in less than 3 years have spoken from personal experience, meeting with black belts who achieved that status in less than 3 years. Well, I have breaking news - the world is not limited to your experiences. Simply because you have met with BBs who don't deserve it doesn't mean that they're the only ones out there. They are out there, duh. But speaking from the other side of the fence, there are plenty out there who do deserve it who earn it in less than 3 years. Don't over-generalize. suicide blond So, in other words Novus my dear, You are going to agree to disagree here and let EVERYONE have their own opinion. Correct? PP And the point of a black belt is not necessarily to be able to be a teacher yourself. THAT varies from style to style. If you are a black belt, you should be able to defend yourself, yes, but not necessarily teach it yourself. I've never heard of any style making someone a black belt that isn't intended to teach. Look back historically- one's belt turns black from years (emphasis here on years) of practice, through which the durt turns it black. Once the belt is blackened, it shows the person is a master, ready to train others because their belt cannot grow darker. In your opinion, Novus, what is exactly the point of having a black belt? Bragging rights? DPD I know someone who got his black belt in less than three years, and he is the best black belt I know. Well, I have breaking news - the world is not limited to your experiences. Chew. goddamn buns Novus The ultimate aim of the martial arts lies not in victory or defeat. Instead it lies in the perfection of those who participate. It's a quote on a poster in my dojo. I forget exactly who said it. The point of martial arts is not to achieve a black belt. The point of martial arts is to perfect your mind and body. Along the way you receive belts, but that is not the goal. The belts are a reflection of your skill in the arts, not the point of it. So, by asking the point of a black belt, you're missing the point. And even if teaching has been done historically, that does not necessarily mean that it has to be done so now. Times change, as do traditions. You say you've never heard of a style that the point is not to make teachers? Well, Shu Do Kan is one. There ya go. And on the belt thing, well, that may be, but belts also grow worn and light over time, and eventually go all the way back to white. What does that say? And DPD, nice throwback, except you missed the point. I was pointing out a person a personal experience to show that there are black belts out there who deserve a bb in less than 3 years. I am not denying that there are plenty of undeserving black belts out there. The difference between PP's argument and mine is that she is claiming a universal that one must train for at least 3 years to deserve a black belt. Forgive me, PP, if I misunderstood you here. I, on the other hand, am claiming that there are some people out there who can deserve a bb in 3 years or less. And SB, of course everyone is entitled to their opinion. This is a debate, where people throw arguments back and forth. Just because I disagree with people doesn't meant that I think they should be shot for having their opinions. I have mine, they have theirs, and we're debating. suicide blond Geez, if you think you can learn everything you're down right wacko. Geez, get off your high horse. Geez my knees. Stop talking about things which you have no clue. That is not debating Novus and you know where I stand on that. Now debate away if you really want to but respect eachother's opinions and leave the sarcastic remarks out please. I only say that once and you know that. Thank you. alkazapper I know someone who got his black belt in less than three years, and he is the best black belt I know. They are out there, duh. But speaking from the other side of the fence, there are plenty out there who do deserve it who earn it in less than 3 years. Don't over-generalize. You do have a point there. But one such yourself should know getting a Black Belt isn't everything in martial art practice. It about the art itself. And understanding it purpose. Yes it is true that perhaps anyone can learn a martial arts, and get a BB within less or in 3 years. But keep in mind; a quality training comes from a quality master, and masterful skills comes from a very high degree concentration in training. it is all about the passion in the arts you've chosen to learn. I know a yellow belt students in Tae Kwon Do who totally humiliated a Black Belt student in just 2 round of sparring. And they are no even from the same Dojo. I learnt Tae Kwon Do lastime when I was still in high school. The Chinese master who told me, until i properly perfected all my Tiger moves, I will never obtain a Green Belt. It took me 2 years to get my Green Belts. After then I decide to quit because the training requires a lot of my time and concentration, and I wanted to further my studies back then. However, I am a proud owner of Black Belt in Silat Betawi Jawa. But again, i would like to emphasize here that obtaining a BB is absolutely not everything. It is the skill, the perfection and passion of the arts itself that makes you an "owner of a Black Belt" . Not just what it symbolizes. PP The ultimate aim of the martial arts lies not in victory or defeat. Instead it lies in the perfection of those who participate. So, you can achieve perfection? Or at least become close enough to it to be considered perfect in three years? Ah! I finally understand! I've been so foolish all these years! It's a quote on a poster in my dojo. I forget exactly who said it. The point of martial arts is not to achieve a black belt. The point of martial arts is to perfect your mind and body. Along the way you receive belts, but that is not the goal. Perhaps, but at what point should a person be granted a BB? And even if teaching has been done historically, that does not necessarily mean that it has to be done so now. Times change, as do traditions. You say you've never heard of a style that the point is not to make teachers? Well, Shu Do Kan is one. There ya go. Sorry, but my friend next door who's a third degree BB in Shudo Kan disagrees. I'll take what she says over you. Sorry. And on the belt thing, well, that may be, but belts also grow worn and light over time, and eventually go all the way back to white. What does that say? That says that we use dyed belts, which can only fade instead of growing darker. If you work out in a dojo, it's highly unlikely your belt will become dirty. If you practice outdoors (as traditionally done), your belt will only grow darker from the dust. The difference between PP's argument and mine is that she is claiming a universal that one must train for at least 3 years to deserve a black belt. Forgive me, PP, if I misunderstood you here. I, on the other hand, am claiming that there are some people out there who can deserve a bb in 3 years or less. No, you're selectively reading again. I'm stating that unless you actually are saturated in practice, as done traditionally, the liklihood of actually deserving a BB in so few years is minuscule. 0Silence1 My favorite kung fu that I do is Northern Shoalin Kung Fu with a mix of Karate and Drunken boxing. You should see me do it its amazing. While I'm doing it I use brass knuckles and steel toe boots. Its the coolest combo. Jack Bauer CTU The martial arts in the Matrix are very good in my book and the martial art i do is called Kuk Sool Won P.S if you want to find out about Kuk Sool Won go on www.kuksoolwon.com Kid "I going to learn Ju-Jutsu" I know Ju-Jutsu(brazilian), Wing Khun(i dont know how to spell it) Splinter How could you know two forms of martial arts, but not how they are spelled? freeyourmind Let's see you say that to him face to face. Splinter I can do that. And then I could tell him to his face how they are spelled. arajigar I think the spirit of a martial art it's not it's physic extern aspects but it's spititual side. I've practiced TaeKwon Do, Karate Do Shotokan, and taken some basic knowledge of Thai Boxing , Capoeira , Wing Chun and JuDo. I will admit that I forget to practice the DO aspects of the first two, because I focus all my efforts in their "combat" aspects ( in which I was good even to fight with "higher" belts ) which I tried to upgrade learnig the theory and training bases of Thai, etc... With the passing of the years, and after four years of standing still with martial arts,I've learned that I´d better learned the authentic martial art instead of a couple of gymnastic movements, learn the authentic DO of the martial art, so, instead of jumping and doing the full split, the true martial artist put his feet on earth and study the forms, kata, kuen, poomse, etc, of his-her beloved martial art and take it as a way of understanding the ineer and outher aspects of his-her internal ego. 8: Now I want to learn Tai-Chi and practice Chi-Kung,that I think will be a good way to not stopping to grow as a martial artist even when I left the path so long ago. :( PS: I can still do the "meia lua", the "tuio furio chagi", and the double "tuio furio chagi". :) Lotus Jet Well I´ve done Capoeira for a few months, but I quit, t was great, and about the matrix fighting.... never saw something like that, amazing! Although its been over 3 years, I'm just wondering if you've gone back to it. I've been doing Capoeira since last September, and have come to love and admire every aspect of it. I'm currently a yellow-natural cord level (I'm in the school called ABADÁ). Raj Against The Machine I'm a ninja!!!! i started ninjutsu a few weeks ago and it is awesome!!!! i did capoeria for a while but i didn't like the guy that taught it. But i guess thats what you gotta go through to become t3h h4x ninja.. Helethel The karate in the Matrix is awesome "Movie Fighting" But Its not very good for actual fighting though But still its awesome expert hi fellas. This is my first post! The 100% matrix martial art I think and I believe is the Wing Chun Kung Fu. Does anybody does wing chun? Raj Against The Machine @ Helethel : there is no Karate in the matirx. the martial arts choreographer: Yuen Woo-Ping does Wushu Kungfu. @expert: welcome to matrixmania. i have practised wing chun and it is not nearly flashy enough to be a "matrix martial art".
