In the beginning of the first movie, Neo is told to follow the white rabbit....
I've thought alot about that and it reminds me alot of the easter and the easter bunny.....sounds kind of silly.....
But if it somehow is conected to the easter bunny its conected to the resurrection....
So it would mean that in someway it represents life......
I just wanted to know if someone else has thought about the white rabbit and in that case what are your thoughts?.....
I think, am almost covinced in fact, that the white rabbit thing is alluding to the story of Alice in Wonderland. Unfortunately, I can't for the life of me remember how that story went. If anybody remembers the general idea, that's probably where all this is coming from.
There was also an allusion to Alice I think in Neo's extraction scene. Something about Through the Looking Glass - whoa, wait, parallel worlds... alteregos... something's on there that I've just realised. I need to think about that. And if anyone remembers the story of Alice that could be very helpful ;)
Unfortunatley no one can be told what the matrix was exactally about. The movie had signs of Alice in Wonderland as well as the bible, but because there was signs of two different things that is what makes it hard to decide. In my opinion I thought the white rabbit as FYM said represented Alice in Wonderland because fo what morpheus said. All the things about the rabbit hole and the white rabbit where all things from that movie witch can be put together to conclude it was probley showing Alice in Wonderland.
I have never seen Alice in Wonderland....(probably should) but I kind of know what its about...
I still wonder what the white rabbit represent in the movie?
Its kind of a important part of the movie......
what i remember from alice is, that she follows the white rabbit to the rabit hole. when she is in, she finds a mirror (the looking glas) the walks into it. and discovers the other word :p
I know about Alice what Freddy just said. I think it's pretty easy to see how this is similar... Neo goes into a mysterious parallel universe. But there's probably more to it. I was wondering if there was anyone who'd actually read the book and can summarise it all for us...
AO, the question wasn't what was this movie influenced by the most, but how it was influenced by all these sources... the Alice connection is to me and apparantely Ignorance pretty vague since we don't know the story all that well...
i still remember alice in wonderland pretty good (lol i still remember cartoons i watched when i whas a kid)
hehe mabey you can compare people from alice with people from the matrix
the queen of hearts = smith
alice = neo
the cat = morpheus
lol don't know more
I have only seen the movie once becuase I didn't think it was all that good, but after hearing all this talk I watched it again and truth is it was all put together like for the matrix films. Or thats the way I felt with the stroy of the movie only without all the action.:D:mf:

just the talking.
(never played it. because then i didn't have a PC at that time)
there whas a action game of alice (but a very f*cked up version of it) but there you could kill the people in wonderland.
i belief the title whas something like: american Mc'gee's Alice (or something like that)
Man never heard of that game do you know when it came out? It sounds fun to play and go around killing people in wonderland just for that part becuase it would be funny.
It's called 'American McGee's Alice', AO. Here are some links to the awesome games info. :)

Alice in Wonderland, starts of with alice dreaming beside the tree (neo was asleep by his computer)
She awakes, to see a little white rabbit, jump down the hole underneath a tree stump
(neo being pulled from his little jelly-filled capusle thingy-majig)
She lands, and walks into another world.
The Queen is the Oracle, not just because of the resembling names, but because the Queen, in the movie, predicts what happens, before it happens. In AIW, she starts to cry, alice ask's her what is wrong, and she replies with "I am going to prick my finger, when the wind blows, and the pin on my jacket comes loose" and soon enough, the wind blows, the pin comes loose, and she pricks her finger.

Alice through the looking glass was actually the second book in the serie, and wasn't proberly explained in the movie, the third part in the serie was called "the wasp in a wig".
Here's a whole thread I wrote about it, which no-one bothered to read ;) http://www.matrixmania.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=10844&highlight=alice+in+wonderland
in my theory the rabbit is only a path to follow. only to keep up with the "rabbit". there for it has no connection to easter though that is my theory... if you all may think of theories to follow up until then "let the reaper be the sleeper of the day and stalker of the night" :neo:
I wonder if the wachowskis just finished the series when they got the idea for the matrix :) but as you say if was gonna happen nothing youor me say or do is going to change it.
wow...suddenly I wish I'd stumbled upon this thread earlier... *smackes herself upside the head for getting in the habit of skipping the "matrix" threads*
Excellent theory, Ignorance. Surely things like the white rabbit could have multiple meanings. That's one I hadn't heard of yet. Like Stalin said quite well, it was probably primarily meant to allude to Alice following the white rabbit. (must go back and re-read "Through the Looking Glass"- I'd forgotten some of that stuff).
As far as the game goes, it's pretty interesting. The game's fairly twisted (and fun) but gets monotonous at times and ends quickly. However, I found my copy for $10 (it came out a few years ago, perhaps 2000?), so it's not a total waste of $ either ;)
but really why serch for answers in a book and not travel the world and look for them... for all you know the answer minght be in your back yard waiting for you in a hole...maybe in a ribbit form? or possibly in whit fur :neo: :mf:
No offence, but i dont know why none have you have seen it or al least remember it. It was a very awesome movie and Better book. Sorry but i think that it is a way to explain to the people of the Matrix without confusing them.
I don't think anyone would be offended NS. Actually we all should see it as it's a brilliant movie. There are also so many wonderful versions out there now for everyones taste. I highly recommend it. ;)
passegas are good i just read the book and i get it thanks all!!! :o :mf: oops! :neo:
its crazy how the directors put one thing in and people can write novels on it, like tatoos that a girl has on her back of a white rabbit, and some one can right a novel on how the directors were forshadowing to the ressurection...then they would probably go into how neo was god.......BLAH
Yeah sometimes people do write novels about the movies that they have seen and compare it to other things that they believe in or that they support. But I just hate it when people compare Neo to be like god. I mean what the hell is wrong with that. I cant believe how ignorant people can be just because they watch a certain movie. So they just have to compare that person to be unstoppable just like god is.
well i understand that poeple relate jesus to neo, or vise versa, because jesus was supposidly the creator of heaven and earth and will liberate us in the after life, and that is also the nature of the one, in a previous lifetime neo was the one and freed or liberated people and therefore people refer to the common abilities and so on...

I also feel that the matrix is related to alice in wonder land due to all of the evidence. The rabbit, the twins, neo asleep, and all the other things. But i don't really see how morpheus is the catepillar. :)
i think the orical is the catapiller becouse the catapiller seems to know everything.
and he can make letters in smoke but thats got nothing to do with it its just kl

Think your right, I think it has to do with 2 different things.
Alice in Wonderland, and Resurrection. I never thought of it in the way of easter. Thats a good way to think of it. I just thought of wonderland and then never looked into anymore. Awesome.

I agree with UT on this one.......wow good thinking.
I thought it was just a clever write in that referred to Alice in Wonderland
View Full Version : Neo follows the white rabbit.....
