do you believe in the devil. i'm not talking about the red dude, i'm talking about the big, tall mucsly dude with the black goats head. i heard of a woman who suffered from sleep paralysis and her hair turned white because she thought the devil licked her neck.
scarey
That`s just a whole bunch of lies, like big part`s of the bible and other holy books is.... (My opininon, remember that) The only satan`s i know about is Agent Smith...and Osama Bin Laden...
osama binladen thats true
Dont start this Osama bin Laden thing here, and yes there is a Satan.........:o .......
I believe in the devil as a sort of opposite to conscience. I find it difficult to believe that he exists in a physical form - that he runs around beating the shit out of people - it just sounds wrong...
but the devil doesn't do that. he tempts people and stuff
heads up to those of you who say you dont belive in the devil. "if you dont belive in the devil you dont belive in god." ok i will answer to your question. yes i do belive in the devil but i try not to think about him\her or what ever the devil is.
Heads up for those who don't believe in God: I don't believe in God! lol.
A lot of people here are from different religious backgrounds, and not everyone has to be Christian, or Iew (I always wanted to spell it like that :p Long live Shakespeare!). There are all sorts of religious figures here, so try to keep generalisations to a minimum.
I myself do not believe in the devil, or anything supernatural for that manner. I 'believe' that everything can be explained through biological, psychological, chemical, physical and logical reasoning.
Mr U
fair enough. i like hearing other peoples' opinions on religious stuff.
I believe that the devil is out there, but he doesn't have to influence too many people now a days. What with drugs and stuff to screw people up. I believe in god and the devil, but I think that people help the devil more than god, even if they don't want to they do on accident. When was the last time you planted a tree, or helped make a plant grow. A lot of people don't and they destroy the world more than create it.

Here's a great quote from the comic Calvin and Hobbes which expresses my opinion on the matter
<Calvin> Do you belive in the devil? You know a supreme evil being dedicated to the Temptation, Corruption, and Destruction of man?
<Hobbes> I'm not sure Man needs the Help
so to the question, my awnser is No

The devil was invented by humans for two reasons:
1) They couldn't believe that "god" would allow bad things to happen; and,
2) They couldn't take personal responsibility for their owns choices and actions.
G.A.O.T.U.
Either that, or he is a deceased Babylonian King. Hmm.. I thought conspiracy theorists invented the Illuminati so they wouldn't have to take personal responsibility. I guess they are all the same... Not the Will zur Macht, but the Will zur Cowardice..
It's good to see you again, G.A.O.T.U. . I must say I quite enjoyed reading Principia Discordia. Rule five particulary :).

I suppose that is my point. Many want to find a "Them" to blame for everything that they think is wrong with their lives when the blame rests mostly within.
It is an unpleasant realization that it is our own ego, laziness or lack of conviction that causes most of our problems. None of us is immune from this fact. However, some choose to accept this and work through it while others prefer to find a scapegoat - preferably a weak one (or one that doesn't exist).

I am glad you liked it. It is one of the stupidest and most important books I have ever read.

G.A.O.T.U.
By the way, what's the deal with the bunny?
But is God himself not also that scapegoat? After all "God works in mysterious ways".. People literally move their responsibility to a deity to deny responsibility for what is happening.
I'm not sure that happens with conspiracy theorits, though. I believe I can success in life, despite of the Illuminati. Even if they govern the world, that does not mean I can not govern with them :). By the way, does principia discordia not also mention the bavarian Illuminati, and how to apply to them? I did find the entrace fee to be quite absurd though.
And, does G.A.O.T.U not refer to a free-masonic deity, but also the deity used in the, perhaps non-existant, Illuminati, if we are to believe the rumours spread by many conspiracy sites? And if this link is according to you non-existant, what do you think about the orginisation 'Skull and bones'? Whose existance is not only proven by the existance of documents from that same orginisation, but also from video-footage from an interview with Senator Kerry in which he implicitely states that he is a member.
The bunny is taken from www.treefriends.tk . A site dedicated to enjoying people by brutally murdering fluffy animals, flash-animation style. It's rather amusing.

To be honest with you,I never completely figured out if the Bible means the Devil as a real person,or more as a weakness of God's creations.I think it's the first though...
'The Devil' is the stuff the Church and other out-dated forms of social control want you NOT to do...you lot really think it's some dude with horns and red skin!?!?!?!?!?!

The guy with red skins and horns is a visual portrayment. He is horned and looks like a goat as a reference to the creation of the statue of God below the mountain where Mozes got the ten commandments, also it was chosen as a goat to make sure no one would follow the Olympian Gods (Pan).
Oh, and was it not 'The Beast' what the church and other out-dated forms of social control did not want us to do? Anyway, I think you have gotten some of your religions clogged up...
