this means you will have AOL Messenger whether you like it or not, if you want to play MxO. I'm generally anti-AOL. You do need to have a way to communicate with others during the game, but does it have to be AOL?

How bout this link?
How is AIM used in MxO?
You will be able to use AOL Instant Messenger within the Matrix Online game, and also to instant message to AIM users who are not playing the game. In the Matrix Online, AIM messages will have a different look than other messages.
Something like MSN, I've never used it before but it shouldn't be a problem I guess.
I'm on it now SF. Best bet guys is to go to downloads.com and get a free version of Intergrity messenger. It intergrates all IMs into one. Very user friendly and as far as I can see a lot safer than trillian (another combined IM program).
You can configure Intergrity to run AOL, MSN, Yahoo and ICQ. Also it's a built-in mIRC program so you just hit connect and the channel you want and you're there. Here's the link..
www.download.com (http://www.download.com/)
EDIT: Update! Go to www.aim.com and hit the aim express button. No download involved. Just type in your username (or create one in 2 mins) and then chat with whoever you want in a java window. Easy as pie, no installs involved and it's damn fast to set up. I give it 2 thumbs up!
