Intresting theory...

I just wandered if there was actually an Equilibrium between The amount of love and hate between people in the world....as if there is some sort of balance that keeps an equal amount of both, and if this balance is broken thats when some disaster happens something like judgment day.....just a theory....so just tell me if you think this sounds alright or its crazy
Helios

I think there is, if there is too much hate in the world its obvious we would wipe ourselves out very quickly like a nuclear winter, and if there is too much love in the world nothing might happen we would be so busy being in love or whatever that civilazation might crumble

I also think that there is an equilibrium of love and hate inside every person, like me if I hated just a little more, the nerxt time someone annoys me i might just kill them, but luckily its balanced out :D

What? I don't think that makes sense. I mean, has anyone ever annoyed you? Of course they have. Have you ever killed cette person? It would be so easy to unbalance this. It can't exsist inside of someone...

Not the One, AnotherOne

no actually its not easy to upset this balance other wise it wouldnt be equillibrium, and not every one has this perfect or imperfect balance

because if i hated someone enough and they annoyed me i might kill them (hate tends to make you evil)
TheRealOne

I'm not sure if there is an equilibrium, but there is certainly a trade-off. For example, you cannot "like" something, unless you know what you "don't like." This thread reminds me of the Yin-Yang concept.
Alfredo

there is not always "equilibrium" but one cannot exist without the other. It does, as was mentioned, have much to do without the other. You take the existence of black for granted if there is no white to compare it to.

Can you love someone and hate them at the same time?(parents)
HomoUniversalis

You don't hate your parents. It is a simple, natural instinct that is supposed to drive you away from your parents, and to start your own family.

Each and every "emotion" we feel is simply a natural drive or instinct. Fear, for example, is the response to a situation, either a traumatic one (when you have been in the same situation before, and got hurt), or a instict one (your gut tells you not to jump off a cliff).

"Love" is a gathering name for many different instincts. For one, there is loving your parents, which makes sure you don't leave them before you are ready to leave (if you leave early, you could die prematurely). Love for the opposite sex is a simple process to make you mate.

We think we are so highly evolved, yet we are machines of our own instincts. I bet dogs have awareness too, and that they think they rule the world too. Yet, they too are driven by instincts, like us...

if every emotion is a natural drive of some sort where does hate come from?
Alfredo

if you interfere with my chances of survival then I will kill you. Of course, it's gotten more cultered over time, but thta's the root.

Hate comes from anger, from feeling of revenge, dissapointment ect...
Helios

thats contructive Hate, there are some that hate for no reason at all, almost like they were born to hate but then no one is born evil or are they...
HomoUniversalis

No one hates everyone. That's rubbish. However, as I stated, it is possible to hate a specific trait, becausef of a traumatic experience.

If a man wore a tie each time he hit a child, the child will start identifying the tie with the hitting, and hate ties.

Hate, or any other emotion or action of a person is never ilogical. There is always something bringing a person to do it...

Hate for everything is impossible, like loving everything is impossible as well...

Wyatt Earp: What makes a man like Ringo, Doc?
Doc Holliday: A man like Ringo has got a great big hole, right in the middle of himself. And he can never steal enough, or kill enough, or cause enough pain to fill it up. And so he walks the earth, forever seeking retribution...
Wyatt Earp: For what?
Doc Holliday: Being born.
