Harry Potter

Who here likes Harry Potter? I'm just as obsessed with Harry Potter as I am with the Matrix. My favorite book is the 4th book. My favorite character is Sirius wahhhh.

I dont like harry potter that much, though i have read all the books the fifth one in just over 28 hours lol, the fourth one comes in second while taking 3 days to read L :D

I like it but it's not exactly my favorite thing in the world(cometo think ofit i don't think i have a favorite anything) but it's ok, I like the movies(even if everyone sayes thier crap) and I really liked the third book

thats like 225 pages an hour i think i could do that, 4 hours though thats impressive, have you ever taken one of those words per minute teast?

the 4th book has 734 pgs. 734/4=183.5or approx. 3 pgs per minute. Never taken one of those tests and I doubt that I could go that fast again. It was on a long, boring cartrip and I got really into the story.

ohh my mistake it was another book i was reading that had 900 pages, it was the same here i was on a long car trip but i slept most of the way :D, i hope the bools continue to get longer though i'd like to have something to read that last more than a few days

I know!!! it always seems like whenever you find something good to read you already finished it! It annoys me so much! I read too fast!:(;)

curse this light speed reading, i wish they would stop making the movies til all the rest of the books came out because its taking too long because j.k rowling is i think helping direct the movies (you know making sure they are the same as the books)

You guys beat me. The shortest it took me to read the books was 5 days

Hmmm. Doesn't Sirius die? Anyhow, the English version, was to me, very boring. I thought she over-described everything. The Dutch book I read had about 50 less pages and was a less boring read. Pretty strange..

I hope JK ain't losing her touch...

hmm i think sirus is dead, i think it is just assumed he is dead he falls into that one "area" it never quite says he is dead, I went to a harry potter thread the other day and a lot of the people seem to think that he will come back in book 6 or 7

It's nearly impossible to write good scifi/fantasy without copying (to some degree) these 2 great writers. But Rowling is better than most.

well I dare you to read Alastair Reynold's books "Revelation Space", "Chasm City", and "Redemtion Ark" not one peice of the book to mook to my knowledge has any sort of copying whatsoever, no stupid warp drive, supreme miracle drugs that cure everything, the world hasn't united into this peacful Utopian like civilazation this is a truly original sci-fi Universe

Ok first of all, if you don't like Harry Potter, why should we care? Also I do believe, unfortanately, that Sirius is dead. Everything Rowling writes in the books are there for a reason. Take Rita Skeeter for instance. In the fourth book, we hated her. In the fifth book, she was very helpful. So I think the death is going to be important in future books.

B) Harry Potter is gay. I agree with Ou Be Low on that one. I think Tolkien is one of the greatest writers ever.
