Linkin Park Concert

Haxxor

Last night, I went to a Linkin Park concert with three of my friends. It was me, my friend James, his brother Tristan, and our friend Matthew. It was down in Portland, Oregon. It featured four groups. StoryOfTheYear was the first group, Hoobastank was the second, P.O.D. was the third, and of course, the last was Linkin Park. My friends and I were in the center, back in the second balcony, with a perfect view of the stage. StoryOfTheYear was a new group that I had never heard. They played a homage to one of Mettalica's song (Im not sure what one it was, but I knew the words), and everyone went nuts. This guy next to me, hits me on the shoulder, and he is all like, "C'mon man, jump up and jame out." So I did. Hoobastank came out and played a bunch of their songs. The one thing that was the most hilarious about them, was that the lead singer was like, "We are now going to sing the best song of all time from music history." They sang the "Girls just want to have fun" song. Me and Tristan were busting up laughing. A girl down in the mosh pit was flashing the singer. P.O.D came out, and all four of us were on our feet, yelling along with the crowd. The lead singer of P.O.D. was like, "We cant hear you." We all yelled as loud as we could. He was then like, "Im still not hearing you." We yelled louder. He was then like, "Ahh, I can hear all of you, now I want that same energy for the next song." They then sang "Youth of a Nation." When Linkin Park came out, I thought the roof was going to fall on us, cause of all the noise. Everyone in that Colleseum was on their feet, the entire time for Linkin Park. Adrenaline was pumping in me the whole time. Linkin Park played "In the End" as there last song for the night, and left. That was what they wanted the fans to think. They came back out again, around 5 minutes later, because of the fans that were still cheering, and Mike Shinoda said, "Hey they really like us, maybe we can play a few more." The crowd went nuts. Their actuall last song was "One Step Closer". For the final part of the song, they brought out the lead singers of StoryOfTheYear, Hoobastank, and P.O.D. The place went nuts. That was the best night I have had in a very long time. I will never forget that night. That concert has also done antother thing for me. It has helped me closed the door emotionally on the best relationship I ever had.

That sounds killer man! Was there people chucking stuff such as water bottles? I know there was at Sum 41 concert I went to a while ago. But there is always some chick flashing the band :p

They practicallt played from all their CD's. There was alot of flashing going on. Although I never saw any of it. I wasn't near the pit. All the bands were chucking stuff out into the floor only.

This is called an 'encore' - it happens at most gigs...

Live music is the best way to experience any band...as long as they have energy and a certain 'je ne sais quoi'.

The best gigs I've been to are either Blur at Mile End in London in 1996(I think...) at the peak of the Brit Pop years...or Beastie Boys at a Tibetan Freedom Concert last year in Taipei, Taiwan...Mix Master Mike is a freakin genius and those boys got skills to pay their bills...

As for intimate affairs...David Gray played at a wine bar I worked at when I was at uni...there were only about 50 people there and it was just before he released 'White Ladder', ie. no-one really knew who he was...that guy has a voice like a honey-coated Bob Dylan...so damn smoooooooooooooooooth.

Before I saw the LP Live in Texas DVD, I didn't know Mike sang so much in the songs. It caught me off guard really. I heard that everytime you headbang, you lose 10 brain cells. How much am I going to lose at the concert........in an excess of a billion. Mfuah!
