What Neo really is

Myself and a friend were talking about this. What is Neo's truthfull purpose? Yes, he is the "one". But technically all he is is a simple anti-virus. his main purpose (we think) is to defeat the virus(smith). But, this is another of those "ideas" with no answer...

The way I see it, Neo had two "purposes" - one defined by the machines, the other defined by himself and his own choices.

The machines' purpose for him, as the sixth anomaly, was merely to reload the Matrix.

However, Neo became the first One to transcend this system, discovering his own true purpose - the harbringer of the Revolution. What Neo learned through the course of Reloaded and Revolutions was that no one side was guilty and no one side was innocent. Both man and machine had sinned. Both man and machine were tired of the war. The Oracle had set everything up so that he was in a position to end it, atone for both sides, and give both worlds a second chance. But she left the ultimate choice up to him. "...in your hands..." And of course, we know what Neo chose.

So, IMO, Neo's true purpose was to end the reloading cycle once and for all. After all, the term 'revolution' means 'a radical change', or 'to overthrow'.

if you remember in M2 the archatect says that the purpose of the one is to rebuild zion. saying to take ten male twelve female i think.anyway that is what he stated the one's purpose was.

All of the post all had something that Neo was but we also failed to mention "gifted lover", because I'm sure as we were able to see Trinity was well plesured during the Zion orgy scene.
