Equilibrium

I saw this movie a few hours ago, I thought it would be very similair to the matrix when actually it wasnt at all.

In the matrix the special effects are mainly in combat between two people(or more) with no weapons, but this movie was all about advanced techniques in using guns.

The story is amazing unlike most action films that have bad stories and mainly rely on special effects to make the movie good.

I have to say that my favorite part in the movie was when he killed the sweep team in the nethar.

Anyway for those of you who saw it what are your veiws on it?

a brilliant movie (look at my avi and my sig) ;) Actually, I almost think it's better than the matrix. In fact, there isn't really a relationship between Equilibrium and The Matrix. I dunno why everyone keeps saying that. But I believe it is strongly inspired by 1984 and Fahrenheit 451. I loved Christian Bale's performance and the other actors did a good job aswell. Also, the fight scenes were great. I loved 'em. They actually were a part of the story and the fight between DuPont and Preston was not too long and it looked great. This is one of my favourite movies.

It's more 'Brave New World' than '1984'...pretty good movie though... although the gun violence was a bit gratuitous!

In the futur after world war 3 the goverment or whatever authority decide to eliminate human emotian to stop people from commiting crimes ect. The hero (4got his name) insted of taking the dose which stops feelings, stops taking them and so on, you have to see it to understand it.

The main characters name is Preston. Equilibrium, which I watched for the first time last night, was an AWESOME MOVIE. Im not going to say any spoilers, so that everyone who wants to see it, can do so without knowing a thing about it.

Based on statistics, a cleric is able to dodge bullets, and survive a potentially lethal situation.

This not only allows him to kill people in the dark, since it's all statistics, but also allows for some pretty nifty combat.

Luckily, everyone has forgotten about any form of martial arts, and very luckily the swat members don't even know how to escape from a simple finger lock.

At least the Matrix gave an excuse to why Neo had supernatural powers....

Bad storyline, amusing special effects. Like the gun, Love the suit.

The sweep team cant use martial arts because of slow reaction timing due to decrease in emotions which leads to unthinkable responses.

What do you call the nifty gun-skills the clerics use then!?!? Let me answer my own question here...There is an actual name for it...'gun-kata'. I thought that part of the movie was fun to watch, but it's by no way a great movie...

It kind of reeks of a belief that it is more important and worthy than it actually is...

I know the clerics performed their gun kata, I was talking about everyone else. None of the rebels or "swat" guys seemed to know anything about martial arts, but just stood there like some cheap kung fu movie. At least the Matrix gave an excuse why no body was fast enough.. Neo could move supernatural because the world wasn't real.

The Clerics can move because the movie isn't real... They should have given a more decent explanation for it....

Obviusly the matrix is better otherwise we wouldnt be on the this site but this movie was good not better but good. Just compare it to Jet Lee's movie 'The One'.

but of everything i readed about the movie they all say it's a matrix rip off ?

Its very different from the matrix, this movie is all about cool gun movements but the matrix is more like fighting and special effects. Its not better but its good.

i have just heard that it comes on pay-per-view soon, so i might order it, tape it, then that will be it!
