Cannabalism

I recently heard of a man in Germany that ate a man that he met over the internet that was looking for someone to eat him. This morning in the paper the man was sentenced to 8.5 years in prison for manslaughter since there was no German law that prohibited cannabalism. No offense to smith_fan, but all this weird stuff comes from either Germany or Florida, as a local radio broadcaster states every night where I am.

I was wondering what your views on Cannabalism are and if you truely believe all the weitrd stories comes from Germany or Florida.

well, the story with Armin Weiwes - "Cannibal" is indeed true. And because there was simply no law that deals with this kind of crime - he could only be sentenced to 8 years, unfortunately.

the guy who got eaten probably said 'Bite me'.

Are you people insane? Who the hell would agree to people being eaten by other people (cannibalism)... I'm all against it... So should everyone else. Theres no "wee bit on the wrong side", personally, this german freak should be shot... I'll do it. What a freak.

The guy said he wanted to commit suicide, and that was his reason for letting Weiwes eat him. The prosecution kept saying he was "fulfilling a sexual desire" and he agreed to eat him over the internet, because that is where they met in a chat room

Come to think of it, aren't there a lot of weird stories about Germans in Florida? Or was it that a lot of Germans were being killed in Florida? Oh, heck, I don't remember.... it was something about Germans & Florida though.

In Germany, during the war years whenever familes saw a fat/large man walking down the street, they were always afraid, because of the war no meat supplies were able to reach certain villages... so they knew that he had eaten human flesh, it was quite common around those areas.

I dont think that cannabilism in wrong. It is just perceived as being it, because no-one has ever thought about eating another.

i think it has something to do with mammals. no other mammals eat their own kind.
other phylums do, like arachnids.

Actually, plenty of mammals eat their own. As just one example, it is a natural behavior of many small animal species to eat their own babies if they become endangered rather than let a predator eat them.... those babies cost precious resources to produce, and nature is distinctly efficient at conserving resources. ;)

ironic isnt it humans are a result of nature and are completely opposite

like smith said in M1 the human race is like a virus consuming resources then moving on to the next area, slowly draining this world of life

To be honest, I think it's saddening & unfortunate that humans have stepped so far away from nature.... although in many ways we are still very much controlled by our instincts, though we don't recognize it. That's a totally separate discussion, I s'pose.

Smith's analogy can definitely be considered apropos. Though I would not say it is the only representative perspective.

How can it be 'murder' if it is consenting? 'Murder' has connotations of malice. He had 'just cause' because he was hungry and liked the taste of human flesh... the other guy obliged, so...who are we to judge?!?!?! You also stated 'this german freak should be shot...I'll do it' - I'd be more worried about meeting a nut like you, than a nut whose only intention is to dine on a CONSENTING adult.

Well, I just releived this census taker out of his suffering, but I'm afraid he didn't quite agree :D.

Anyhow, I don't see what's wrong with eating a person, and aiding him in suicide. However, if the german government finds that an offense to it's legal system, than it should be punished. I do not claim to know more about their system than the judges, so I won't get involved.

Let's not try to judge too much, m'kay Jet and Ou Be Low Hoo, let's keep it nice and clean :)

I agree with this 100%. Some people are miserable, and nothing we can or could do would help them. Why should we force people who don't want to keep living to keep living? Who are we to judge their quality of life and say it should be acceptable for them? Why do we fear death so much?

We have a problem with this kind of thing (the assisted suicide & eating thing) because we can't understand it, because we would never do it. But why does that make something wrong?

that's wrong because it's not catholic. Somehow most countries make a big fuss about funerals and other related after death activities. Looks like some persons have trouble to differenciate a soul from a pack of bones.

I don't really care. If peeps want to eat each others, that's fine with me. Even monkeys do practise cannibalism, a contrario from what was believed even recently.
